What positive effects does Cruel have?
Not much, but it is probably the easiest trait to get rid of (for example, cruel gives you a 0.5 modifier for pillage events, which then give the possibility to get rid of cruel -> as there are several pillage events, one of them is bound to fire in even remotely prolonged conflict if you have Cruel). Giving 1 point for something that is a) very easy to get rid off b) is not very bad to start with, is not ok IMO.

Reckless makes you 50% more likely to be killed or wounded in battle. That may count for something.
Still, the chance for that is low, much more probable are the events for heroism etc. Reckless+Valorous is in fact one of the easiest way to boost Prestige income for beginning characters (continuous prestige boost every month plus the very likely (mtth ~40 days) +10 prestige during war, so if valorous is +1 and Reckless -1 then it is a very good combo indeed.

Again, if characters made with the rules avoid some trait, then the point-cost can be adjusted simply because of that (as was the case with Coward) :)

I've been thinking how we could avoid this tendency of placing a lot of points in one attribute and ignoring one or more of the others. What about if the attributes were instead seen as levels, and it costs that many points to rise from one level to another. Ie a player wants his character to have level 9 in Stewardship, it'd thus "cost" 1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8+9=45 points.

Of course there should then be a bit more points available for the attributes than the 40 points now :p As taking four level sevens and two level sixes would cost with this system 154 points I'd suggest 150 or 160 points for a nice round number :)

First post edited. Added 2nd method to choose the attributes.

Good job all of you, I'm currently using Solmyr's Smack, Byakhiam's Many Kingdoms, and these char creation rules for my gaming, livens it up considerably, thanks!

We exist to serve and please :p

It is always good to hear people like ones projects :) Any correcting feedback is also more than welcome!

With the new importance of Intrigue and the effects of Intrigue skills (what are the btw?), is there need to adjust any costs? Comments please :)

Is anyone thinking of starting up a new CK MP game, especially within the pioneer group (Patrucio, Byak, Jark, Solmyr, Hyzhenhok, and myself)? This just seems to be the place all those from the old group would check with new posts in it. I've been thinking of getting back into CK MP, what with the new betas and all and so is Hyzhenhok, I believe. Saturday night is still the best time for me, any interest in starting up a new game?

Well then what time would be good for you, Byak? I can't play except for the weekend.

I tend to avoid weekends for gaming now unfortunately. Maybe you should start a new thread about weekend CK MP game? I think you can gather interested parties better that way.

If you mean, how to do the characters into appearing in the game, try this sticky in Scenarios & Modifications subforum: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=160364

thanks so much, i actually found that a few after my other post. figured itd be in the modding forum but wasnt sure what the keyword to find it would be. I usually always try searching before asking a question, as all of them have been asked before im sure..... :p

thanks again....

Just curious - if the idea is to create individualized characters, shouldn't there be randomness thrown in? or do the monarchs stay consistantly good to provide an equilibrium for MP?

jay.

The character is bound to change immediatly after the game starts. The randomness comes from that. And while you create the first character, the heir will get attributes and traits *based* on your first character. So lets say you make a character with crappy martial skill -> his heirs in 3rd or 4th (etc) generation will most likely have crappy martial too.

With the latest beta several trait costs need to be tweaked IMO (valorous and coward jump to mind as the obvious examples). Any suggestions?
