What does the average paradoxian love even more than building cities? Shaping history!

I am not a very experienced modder, nor a great coder but I have a vision and i believe that we can achieve this vision by cooperation and teamwork. :)

Cities: Medieval (name might change)

Build your own medieval settlement, from small hamlet to big city - everything is possible.

These are my ideas:

  • different zoning types
    • rural
    • urban
    • industrial (ore, forest, fish, etc.), castle (maybe)
    • ...
  • farmland ... greater extend compared to vanilla's agricultural industry
    • rural building "spread" farmland
    • I imagine farmland to be "spread" like pollution in vanilla
    • atleast a texture change should be possible (don't know if we can actually add weat, barley, etc.
  • townwalls and castle walls, maybe moats/dykes
    • walls can be placed like train tracks
    • road/wall intersection become gates
    • gate size depends on road type (maybe)
  • marketsquares
    • as building or maybe zoning or roads
    • if realized as a zone, growable market stalls could be possible
  • castle buildings
    • buildings can be placed on walls (compare trainstations)
    • towers
    • palace parts
    • garnisons
    • stables
  • and many more things!

I firmly believe that such a large project is possible with such a fantastic game!

Hopefully this sounds intetessting to you guys and girls out there!

I have already been working on Castle parts, currently they meant for Modular assembly. I was planning a similar thing, and then saw someone making buildings. But I do plan later to make even lower class housing types, unless some one beats me to it :)

I have Tower, Wall, and parts for roads as seen in pic below. They need tweaking still, as need to account for lights at intersections, so many varieties of this model to suit different road types. But you can see in middle Tower Arch 1 side is different, as currently tweaking that model, then have to go back and a just others.

Just wish there was a way to easily release a packaged set, like we can with singular things. There is ways too, just not as easy for people to install as currently, maybe something they should look at.

Zoning
-Housing (Low) (Peasants)
-Housing (Medium) (Commoners)
-Housing (High) (Nobles)
-Agriculture (Creates jobs for Peasants. Farms, Ranches, Fisheries, etc.)
-Industry (Creates jobs for Commoners. Bakers, Blacksmiths, etc.)
-Artisans (Creates jobs for Nobles. Goldsmiths, Banks, Jewelers, etc.)

Defense
-Need to defend your land from Barbarians/Bandits/Brigands instead of Crime, construct Barracks and such to create areas of defense.

I hope some one can come up with a mod or Dev's make it so we can supress non-custom content. This way if we want just this stuff to span only, this would be cool. Would open up total conversions, for this and Sci-Fi builds and more.

Seems as though Image direct placement did not work first time nor URL button, but seems to this time around. Even upload does not work, maybe this is all cause it just came online, but make sure to preview before saving to make sure it shows. But if it don't appear this time, even though preview shows it, I will be mad :)

Also I hate these forums that don't let you edit old messages if some one posts after you.

Fantastic work diamond!

@Shadowclaimer I am not sure if we should seperate between housing and working that much, as most people lived and worked in the same building during the middle ages, but I agree that a split between peasants, commoners and nobles makes sence.

Thanks.

Originally it was created,
  • To make a separation, with place able walls for a castle center peace, and shops surrounding it, with people living out side.
  • Another use was for a stylish way to separate some or all districts if you choose.
  • Another thing I was hoping for originally was another way to create a noise dampener, but have yet to find a way to add that, as does not seem possible yet or ever, by in game or modding.

As for his separation, would be best as a play style to pick when adding mods.
