Please explain the issue you experienced in the most condensed way possible
At a certain point, I saved and quit to desktop (A). I resumed playing some time later, and when I had finished, did the same (B). When returning once more, I found that all the progress since (A) had not been saved. I then proceeded to play again, and saved and quit to the main menu (C), but found that all the progress in that time had also been lost, and was reverted back to (A).

Please explain how to reproduce the issue

Is there anything else you think could help us identify/replicate the issue?
My auto save option is a grey shield with a question mark with the 1066 start date (my game hasn't even reached 1066 yet).

Dear @Countess of Bohemia do you have any news on this? Just started a new campaign on ironman only to find out that nothing was saved?!

Just putting this out there that I'm still also having the same problem, no autosave files are created for both Cloud and Local saves and I'm playing on Steam.

I'm on the Steam version and cloud saving between my two PCs worked flawlessly until this week. Now even though I progressed 20 years, the save from my PC simply won't sync to my laptop.

I did notice one thing however: The file name of the synced ironman savegame has stopped changing. The file name on both my PC and my laptop is the same: "Rurikid_1103_08_08", even though on my PC the current year is somewhere around 1135 and on my laptop it's 1115. Between the moment the file name stopped updating I exclusively played on my laptop, but after that I progressed further on my PC.

Maybe this can be of help @Countess of Bohemia ?

I can confirm that the game doesn’t change the filename to reflect the last Ingame save date. So it seems to work for me except for the filename.

Do you mean your issue has been resolved? Or does it still not save (properly) for you too?

After struggling with non saved ironman files for a while, my saved game just completely disappeared. Looked into the proper folder and there are no trace of the saved game.
This is upsetting.
Are you still working on fixing this issue ?

No saving issue with the 'regular' mode ? And doesn't it feel a bit pointless and less fun to not play ironman games ?

Initially losing my iron-man game put me off, I don't think I'll return to the game until Royal Court comes out. But I was able to restore the game as apparently it was saved by the launcher on my other computer ("lastgame.ck3" IIRC), so I could rename it and move it back to the regular cloud ironman save folder. But now I constantly make back-ups of my iron-man saves and sync them through Google Drive. Which 1. Is a lot of hassle for something that should have been working in the first place and 2. Pretty much defeats the limits of an ironman game and thus feels like cheating (which I don't like).

Haven't tried it with a non-ironman playthrough, because yeah I agree. Unless I'm playing with mods, I always play ironman for both the challenge and the achievements.

Same problem. I play, it says it saves-- then I go back a day later and everything is deleted. Soul crushing. Looked online for hours without finding any solution. Steam and Paradox Interactive won't answer support questions. I DO NOT have this problem with any other games.
I really love this game. But, if I can't save anything, WTF!?
So far, I haven't heard any answers to fix this.

This does not only occur to auto savegames in Iron Man Mode but also to manual savegames in normal mode (running on Xbox Game Pass).

Since I tried to start the game again like 30 minutes ago the game crashed at first startup. It's now loading again and I can play the game fine but I can't save at all anymore, the game is only creating corrupted savegames that can't be loaded. This happens with every existing savegame I have so it's pretty much impossible to continue my playthrough. The game worked perfectedly fine until just like 10 hours ago (played for like 8 hours straight) so something must have happend in between.. This is endlessly frustrating and pretty much destroyed my gaming weekend. The latest "patch" seems to be completely fucked up. Thanks, Paradox...

We are actively looking into the issue, in the meantime please make sure to play your Ironman games with local saves or use the workaround posted by @kythlyn!

I've tried everything to solve this problem (hours of troubleshooting). Turned off syncing, cloud saves, turned off Ironman. Yet-- all of my game save files are deleted the next day.
So far, none of the answers in this forum has helped, and I've been working on this for days to fix it.
Can't contact Paradox or Steam to help.
I'm beyond pissed, because I'm giving up on a game I actually love. But, if nothing saves, WTF is the point?
So-- to recap-- I've read all the forums and nothing works. Everybody is just in a forum bitching about something years ago, which still isn't solved. Awesome.
Paradox, it is a simple thing, let your players save their f-ing game.

This does not work for me either. I cannot save a CK3 game at all. Turned of "syncing" on Steam, and iCloud saves. Followed all of the advice.
All of my game saves are deleted the next day.
It's happened enough times, and it becomes SOUL CRUSHING. I can't keep doing this.
Yet, I haven't been able to save a simple game after trouble-shooting for hours. WTF, Paradox, let your players save a simple game, or at least set up some support network to help those that cannot save their game.

I stopped playing few weeks after release because of this issue, came back for the Viking DLC and the same issue again. So I stopped playing again and I wanted to play when the Royal Court releases, hoping that the issue wouldd be resolved by then. I can't believe this is still not fixed more then a year after release. Might as well try to get a refund.

If you can get a refund, go for it ! Because I don't think a fix is coming any time soon...
I keep an eye on this thread just in case, but this feels really hopeless after more than one year of waiting.

And even though the DLCs look awesome, it's just impossible to retry the game knowing the saves might actually not save the games.
I really don't get why they just don't care and/or don't communicate around this critical issue. If they can't fix this issue for this game, what guarantee would we have for their next games to not have the same problem ? I love Paradox but now I just can't buy and play their new games anymore...

Hi, I've been having the exact same issue as others in this thread – is there any update on the fix for it? It was working fine until last night, then the save corrupted and I had to roll back to last_save.ck3 and now it keeps trying to replace my save with the save I rolled back to. I can't believe it's been getting on to 2 years since the issue was first found and there's still no fix.

I'm currently at the year 1397 in an Ironman save, after being at 1410 last night so I'm kinda frustrated about it potentially being a waste ever trying to get to 1453, which was one of the goals of this playthrough.

It’s been 3 years, it’s clear now ck3 will never be fixed. Sadly you have to mourn your game and move on to something else.

I have to say I m still hoping though, which is why I keep an eye on this thread. But surely I ll never be able to buy ck3 or any of the dlc
