Hey folks!

With EU2 and Victoria gearing up for another round of OscAARs, I thought it time that Crusader Kings joined the party. I talked with Coz1 about it and he agreed.

For those of you who haven't been to the other games, this award looks at all completed AARs in a given time frame. I'll post a list of the eligible entries, and you nominate them. We'll then ask the moderators to set up a poll for the five with the most nominations. Whoever does best in the poll wins the OscAAR.

The first thing we need to decide is what to call this award. Do we just call it the "CK OscAAR" or would you rather call it something else? Victoria's, for example, is called the "VictAARian Cross" which fits them much better.

What do you think?

How about, the Crusader's Chalice? or the Crusader Sword? maybe the Holy Lance?

Golden Spur?

Anyways, are there really that many compelted CK AARs in a given timeframe? it tends to be a very slow-moving game.. just a thought.

VERRRY COOL! :D

Crusader's Lance?

The Golden Lance? And Silver, and Bronze Lance?

The Lance Awards... Gold, Silver and Bronze?

Hmm...

I honestly don't know. I find it hard to believe all xx pages of CK AARs are still active though. :) If there aren't enough finished AARs for say...the first half of 2006, then we can always push the date back until we have enough AARs to talk about.

That's actually a good idea... Otherwise, people get missed. Would it be practical to go back to the first half-year with finished AARs?

Was there one for last year? Because there's a little-known AAR that ended in the last quarter of 2005 that I'd like to nominate, if possible.

Let me start throwing together the master lists so I can answer these questions intelligently.

Off the top of my head, my thought was to start by mimicking the others: January-June 2006. Then, if there was interest, we could start backtracking. I can start putting together how many AARs ended when, and see what exactly we're looking at.

But for now, back to finding a name. BeAARtified is amusing. CrusadAAR's Lance/Sword has definite appeal.

King/Duke/Count of CK AARland?

And anonymous4401, what AAR are you talking about?

Nice idea, but I have been following the CK AAR forum for a while now and in the last half year not many AAR's have been 'finished' they mostly are either abondoned or are still ongoing.

Or does abondoned also count as finished ? I don't know the exact rules for that.

So in order to have a meaningfull selection I would suggest to go back at least a year.

Abandoned AARs MIGHT be legal. Here's what Coz1 wrote about it in the EU2 forum:

The way I run it is this: I will list the completed works in EUII from January to June of this year. You will then have one vote. You may either nominate an AAR from the eligable list, or use your vote to second, third, etc. The top five AARs will then be included in a poll.....

....A note on what is eligible .... I tried to call completed work thusly: It was truly completed, it was ended from a technical error and good faith was made to end, it was abandoned but a sufficient ending was put in place during the eligible period.

I'm sure there are a few that will be 'borderline', but we'll muddle through those. The above will be the ideal :)

Names: Okay, here's what we have:

CK OscAARs
{The chosen AARs are} "BeAARtified"
The Crusader's Chalice
The Crusader Sword
The Holy Lance
The Golden Spur
The Crusader's Lance
The Lance Awards

Any seconds? New ideas? Looks like something to do with lances might be leading.

I quite like "The Crusader's Chalice" myself, but of course with the customary "AAR" inserted, ie "The CrusadAAR's Chalice" ;)

Ain't OscAARs and AARland Choice Awaards a bit of an overkill for one month? Wouldn't it be better to do it somewhere late August or early September (when I have started my own CK AAR ;) (did I say that? )) :p

Of course, that would be CrusadAARs Chalice. ;)

Great work so far, CatKnight, and good to see this up and running. I've tried to think of some other names but none seem to jump out at me. I'll keep thinking. :D

This will take a little time to organize anyway. For example the Vicky and EU2 OscAARs aren't planning to be done until September. Plus, a new CK AAR wouldn't be eligible anyway - this is for completed ones.

Go ahead and start yours though, maybe it'll be up for next time!

---------------------

Okay, as I read it the name 'election' breaks down as follows:

(2.25) The CrusadAAR's Chalice
(Fiftypence, Veld, Alhazen 1/4)

(1.25) The CrusadAAR's Lance
(Renns, Alhazen 1/4 - suggested 'Holy')

(1) BeAARtified:
(Specialist)

(1) King/Duke/Count:
(Shy Kid)

(.25) CrusadAAR's Sword:
(Alhazen 1/4)

(.25) Golden Spur:
(Alhazen 1/4)

Personally I like having the word 'crusader' in there, spelled 'CrusadAAR'. It makes a lot of sense for this award.

So let's vote through say....Friday evening. At that point we'll go with most votes, and hit the next step - nominations!

Ditto to CrusadAAR's Chalice.
