Alright. Went Nestorian to dodge the crusade, got my four queendoms, and killed a bunch of landed fools. Still only have 8/80 Dynasty members. Anybody got any cool ideas/goals to keep myself occupied while I wait for my peeps to breed?

seduce everyone

I ended up seducing all my siblings because they didn't have enough children with their husbands

I didn't find the crusade that hard to beat, I even lost a 20k stack and went to -50 warscore but crusaders petered off after a while since they start getting revolts and random wars and such. Eventually they get very depleted and you can will pretty smoothly.

Found a really cute bug:

1. went miaphysite (can't divorce husband yet, -5, bad traits)
2. crusade goes after Anatolia instead of Egypt
3. my sunni husband joined Rum against the crusade
4. -1000 can't divorce my husband because he's fighting in a crusade

gg paradox

Hey guys - im actually trying myself as the stammerer.

Maybe I did a nice mistake, but im not sure. My run is actually quite good, i already have the kills and the +65 thingy. But today i formed a "new" empire "West-Francia". Can I still do the challenge or did i bug myself and need to do a new run (playing Ironman).

Currently I only own De-Jure Aqui, but up to now not De-Jure France.

Could anyone say?

You mean you made the custom empire of West Francia? Because you need to create the empire of Francia, you'll find it under the de-jure empire map. You also need all the de jure land of West Francia (note that if West Francia is owned by a king not of the Karling dynasty it's renamed France). Remember that to create the empire of Francia, beside the normal requirements for creating an empire, you need to create a kingdom different from Aquitaine, West Francia, Brittany, and Burgundy. Your run should be safe

How can I find it now there to create it? Until i created my custom empire, I was able to select the empire title from my kingdom title -> show de-jure and then the title above. But now my West-Fancia got the de-jure empire for my kingdoms (the other three), so... how / where can I create the Francia/Frace title now?
Under the de-jure map I can see only my empire "west-francia" and France to the east of me.
Ah wait... while writing... I need to go for burgundy (+ one extra kingdom) because Burgundy is the last left de-jure kingdom from France / Francia? If needed I could look for screenshots later.

When you created your custom empire, all your held kingdom titles should have passed De jure to your new empire, so you should be able to find the empire of Francia by clicking on burgundy. You can also look at De jure empire map and see the de jure empires there. But even if there is no longer any land under the empire of Francia you can still create it if you hold Paris. So, if burgundy is still part de jure Francia you nned that + that other kingdom, and if Francia has no de jure kingdom under it, you need to control Paris + that other kingdom

- Join jihad for jerusalem
- Win Jihad
- Convert to Christianity off the province you obtained to avoid crusade. Vassalize knights templar by decision.
- Join crusade and win it

Question though, can anyone tell me why this marriage produced a lowborn child?

Cool!! I tried to do just that but the Crusade started before I could win the Jihad for Jerusalem. Also, weird about the kid born through a matrilineal marriage being lowborn... Maybe she's a bastard?

She is my daughter. She might be illegitimate. I was, uh, trying hard for an heir, as they say. But I dunno how that can lead to lowborn. Like, the father knew she was illegitimate but decided to accept her anyway, getting her to adopt his dynasty?

My later son and daughter ended up with my dynasty, so all is well. Son is a genius too. Just strange about the lowborn.

This happened to me yesterday in my Slavic Union game. I found out my concubine had been messing around with my Scholar-Bureaucrat, and decided to cover it up instead. Lo and behold, the child became a lowborn bastard with no father listed (although she did have the han chinese child portrait, hmmmmmmm...). My guess is that the attempt to cover it up might be a bit buggy atm.

Definitely a very nice run. Didn't get to form the Outremer Empire as I wanted but hopefully I can press my wife's claim on the Ilkhanate. Time to get to some serious baby making.

Incidentally is this a known bug with the dynasty tree display? Seems that since the Queen and her brother didn't share a father/mother that the tree bugs out and displays all of the descendants of the brother as unrelated characters.

Is there a bug with the new challenge? You start out as both a vassal and a tributary state of Hungary. Since the duke of Bosnia is a tributary of Hungary, as a vassal you cannot attack him.

So looks like the current strategy would be to gain independence and then free yourself from tributary status? Or I suppose just becoming the king of Hungary would be easier...

There is something interesting about the great work achievement....you just need to start 3 great works....no need to actually finish any, just let them pause there.

It is a really weird start. You are a vassal of Hungary and a tributary state of both Hungary and Serbia.

You start at a fairly advanced age (33), and need to do a good amount of conquering off a relatively powerful kingdom with few troops of your own. Landing a bunch of brothers and sons isn't a difficult goal, just get to breeding. Taking over Serbia before dying looks tough though. It's all owned by the King of Serbia at start and he's only 1 over his demense, so you're not going to get claimant opportunities for a while. He's Orthodox so no popeclaims. I'm sure its possible to get lucky and both live long enough and fabricate fast enough to get it done with just your chancellor working 24/7, but that's really uninteresting.

Given the relative weakness of Orthodox, maybe the best solution is to convert to Sunni and do a holy war? You can marry your siblings and children around beforehand and get alliances, as long as you keep good relations you can still have them after converting. There's enough marriages to go around to get the HRE/France/Iberia/etc all involved on your side no problem. With that fighting even a few extra orthodox that would join Serbia in a holy war is possible. Trouble with this is you need to both get independent and conquer a Sunni province. Independence isn't too difficult since, again, you can just call your allies, but the sunni province requires a claim. Karaman or the Shiekh of Manurqa look like a good target to fabricate immediately on. Winning the Crusade would obviously be the ideal way to do it but I definitely can't do it myself with the resources I have at game start.

Anyone else have any interesting ideas?

It's very easy to push the Venetians out of Croatia. Just ally with the HRE and attack as soon as you have the prestige for the duchy conquest. Bonus if the Venetians are attacking somewhere else. The last battle with the Venetians is over Ragusa which will be easy since you've now got more land just need to save up some resources. There are a lot of prestigious bachelors and bachelorettes such as the titular Latin Empire claimants that will marry any of their family for your benefit.

Taking out the non-dynast vassals is paramount. Plot to revoke the Frankopans in Veglia is an early choice. Save your primary heir for marriage to a Serbian claimant. Firstly free yourself from tributary status then press claim, all when Serbia is weakened by religious uprisings and or Bulgarian de jure wars. Making Split feudal would be ideal so plot to revoke and build a castle. You can land your former republic vassal as the mayor of Split and give the county to a dynasty (two birds one stone).

Marry another dynast to a Bosnia claimant and press their claim when you have Serbia in control. Continue to rely on HRE and other stronger powers in the neighbourhood for dealing with Hungary if necessary.

Then just wait for the cash to roll in. Expand as you want. Maybe build more cities for extra profit and then start saving for the wonders. AS previously mentioned, only starting the wonders is enough to have them register as a win.
