Ok, so for your original input:
Code:

       global_chinese_nestorians=30.000

I would show you what this looks like but suddenly my eu4 launcher has decided not to support ANY local mods.
Out of the blue.

One reinstall later, for our humble Yuan:

religious mapmode is:

I hope this is fine.

That looks beautiful; a question, though. Does the converter potentially change all provinces held by the ruling Chinese dynasty, or just ones in the China superregion? The variables are for tracking religion in China's offmap provinces; if offmap china was theoretically 100% Jain, but the western protectorate conquered a bunch of Sunni counties before game start, it would be kind of odd if areas that were solidly Sunni at time of conversion suddenly flipped to Jain.

Just offmap, not touching western protectorate. We're only annexing the west into China, as-is.

Hey, so I just finished working on my own conversion mod, but unlike yours its done with the base-game DLC converter, and as such is much more limited. Having seen this, I don't really think releasing my mod makes sense anymore, but I now have a bunch of code and such that might make your lives a little easier if you are interested.
Stuff I did includes:
- Basic fixes for missing provinces/religions/cultures/etc. (Also the random provinces that had their production at 0.)
- Animal cultures are now in their own groups rather than all being a part of Lost Cultures. (Except Bear which gets converted to Jan Mayanese)
- Updated government assigner
- Unique idea set for every Holy Order in the game (except Jomsvikings/Teutonic Order which already had ideas)
- New tags for said Holy Orders
- Special Government reforms assigned at game start based upon situation
- Fetishist cults for all CK2 pagan religions, also events for each of those cults
- Support for unreformed pagans in EU4.
- Personal Deities for the Khurmazta faith. (I also made some for Bon before I realized they couldn't have both Karma and Personal Deity, no art for Bon though)
- Support for Random World/Animal World stuff
- Added sound for each added religion

There's probably other stuff I forgot as well.

I just can't believe that on the day that I was going to release mod I discovered this. I'm both happy that people more competent than I are doing this, but I won't pretend that I'm not slightly frustrated. So glad there'll finally be a proper converter though.

There is absolutely no need to feel frustrated, and I may have misunderstood your post on Steam. What you list here is absolutely useful. We do a lot of data mangling and fixes to mappings are very welcome, same as the rest of the list. I'm sure we can find many useful resources. If you desire to contribute on a more permanent basis, seeing how you are already involved in this type of modding, you're more than welcome to join us.

As for your work so far, feel free to upload whatever you think may be useful, we'll review it and see what can be integrated.

I don't actually know how to script other than the very basics for decisions etc, but as you said to post any suggestions here: the CK2 culture Pomeranian represents modern day Kashubians and not German Pomeranians. I suggest German Pomeranian only appearing when the German superculture is broken up, and for Slavic Pomeranian to become Kashubian or something else. Also as I said elsewhere, for Slovien to be mapped and split into Czech (or Moravian, don't know if EU4 has Moravian culture) and Slovak as it represents a medieval stem culture for both Moravians and Slovaks.

EU4 at this stage doesn't have Kashubian culture so, if they add it in 1.30 we'll remap. We're currently mapping bohemian to czech and slovien to slovak. We're also doing some minor mangling on hungarians and bohemians inside slovakia to create more slovaks. Again, no Moravian culture in eu4, but if that changes we'll do a remap.

Ah, I wasn't aware you were trying to stay within the confines of cultures that currently exist in EU4. That'll make things easier when I have suggestions in the future.

Thanks for all your work, love the mod

Suggestions:
a) A generic decision to abolish the elective monarchy for countries which have it - maybe tied to whatever admin/dip tech feels appropriate
b) Converting even unreformed pagans to their dedicated religions, rather than animists. If controversial, maybe make it toggleable in options/convert them to a 'unreformed' version which is the same but with the boost to hostile conversion that animist/mayan etc get in base EU
c) Remapping the centres of trade alongside development like vanilla converter (unsure as to feasibility)
d) Unlocking peasant republic as a generic reform for republics. Ideally, this could be also be applied to any state with a peasant leader, but that might be infeasible
e) Siberian-style elimination of countries in the saharan passes-in my experience with converted games you'll still get a fair amount of trans-saharan wars, especially if a country owns land on both sides, but it tends to slow down expansion in either direction

a) elective is assigned to those with feudal_elective government system in ck2, and there aren't all that many of those (we're excluding rome, byzantium and hre). Can't they break out of it through reforms anyway?
b) we're already doing something regarding this, it's cooking.
c) not touching those at this stage. I fear we'd do more harm than good as a number of missions rely on those.
d) it's a nice flavor idea I think, I can put it in the ideas list for future.
e) this is a good idea, and I'll see about emptying the pass automatically if not owned by some outside nation.

Nah, unfortunately it's a locked reform that prohibits changing. I suppose that could be altered, but even then it would only be the player who would ever shift - pretty sure the AI doesn't have the functionality to reform out of it/will never take the 10 corruption to switch. I just discovered it when I converted a 1310 start as test for a megacampaign and all the scandavians were elective.

hey all, canadian lemur from steam here, the sons of vinland mod adds new provinces cultures and religions in north america, how can we go about adding support for it?

Assuming you haven't altered any province IDs for vanilla ck2 map and just added new province IDs for north america, you'd first have to integrate those in province_mappings.txt.
Add new cultures in culture_map.txt, same for religions and religions_map. See if you can get a basic conversion going. If it works we can look at details for the rest like governments.

so i got the culture and religion mapping working correctly but the province mapping is proving more difficult, my changes don't seem to make an effect there

Provinces may not be even possible yet as they won't get loaded from mods, but the province mappings file is the crucial first step. Once done I can do the rest from within.

Hey heads up the converter province mapping is missing mappings for provinces added in the 3.2(?, I think) update, where they reworked egypt map in ck2. The ck2 province ids 2001-2007 and 2012-2014 aren't present in the converter.

Not sure what mapping it is to eu4 though, since Paradox didn't update their converter for those additions either lol

Thanx, both egypt and portugal have been updated.
