The Korean War battle scenario is in an early stage right now.

sorry i've been away (i've tried to "improve" my hoi2 install and i kinda over did it... took me some time to get it back running)
skimming the posts i've noticed some talk about the arab-israeli war and hwo to give israel the edge, i'm sorry if anyone said this before, but my idea would be an event which gives israel a org/morale boost for all troops and -org/morale for the arab nations.
the issue is the same as ger vs the allies in '39-'41: on paper uk and france should have been in berlin by october, but due to superior german training and views on how to conduct the war the germans were in paris. And in hoi2 this is simulated by germany having better org/morale

There is a way to give the Israelis an edge through a command

type = disorg_division which = [div id type/-1] value = [div id id] where = X # where = Percent of Max Strength. Negative value is org gain.
This will be done for the newly created Israeli units. Normally when a unit is created through an event it comes in at half of max_org. This is certainly unfair as in reality the Israeli units had begun preparations ahead of time for the expected war.
I'll try this in combination with
1) strong peacetime IC mod values for Arab states
2) a quick separate peace by Lebanon (not really realistic but I think ok for game purposes)
and see if this works
If not may have to go to a backup plan of creating both an Israeli and Palestinian state and having the war between them alone, with the Arab states being given the choice of
1) staying out
2) sending expeditionary forces
3) formally joining the war

I really enjoy your mod. You communicate on the forum well, also. I'm very happy that your mod is one of the most consistently updated mods. It gives me reason to check the forums everyday :)

Thank you all for your support even if I don't mention you by name.
Have decided to release a standalone techtree (no extra scenarios or extra events) for evaluation testing with Armageddon 1.3 BETA. It includes my spy system fixes, which address the #1 complaint on the 1.3 forum. The next update of the full package will nevertheless be based on 1.2, as I wish to try out a solution of the Arab-Israeli War issues on that version. If you wish to see how the tech tree will react with 1.3 then go ahead and install the update and the new package. But if you're a fan of the Cold war or fatherland scenario you'll want to (for the time being) stay on 1.2 or roll back your installation to 1.2. The mod uses files that are structured differently for the 2 versions, and therefore simultaneous compatibility is impossible.

Its funny, with this mod you basically did in a very short time what the entire cold war mod has tried years to put together, I salute you. :D

Hopefully this will help forward efforts to make a late cold war mod as well.

I like this mod and await the next version. :)

I must salute you.
You've done an amazing job with this mod.

One problem though...
I don't know whether its come to your attention or not before, but anyways, I tried to load up a game for the 1936 scenario but it crashed upon one day of play. I noticed that the reason was that no one rules the Middle East. They were empty territories.

Is there any way to fix this? I'm love to play throughout the world war with this wonderful techtree.

Version 0.20 is out! The conversion to Arma 1.3 took less time than expected. To use for Armageddon 1.3, install the 1.2 files with the program and them apply the 1.3 patch. Don't want to give up on 1.2 yet as long as 1.3 is in beta status and also some of you use this techtree with another mod. If the other mod is not ready for 1.3 then you need to stay with 1.2. Otherwise it is your choice.

There are a lot of little fixes. I'm trying first to see if I can slow down the buildup of Arab forces for the 1948 war. Am likely to switch in 0.21 to the backup plan of releasing BOTH Israel and Palestine to fight a civil war, with the Arab states being given the option of
1) staying out (ai_chance 3)
2) sending equipment and volunteers (ai_chance 95)
3) formally entering the war (ai_chance 2)
But for right now I'm just trying to see if the buildup of forces can be slowed through peacetime IC mod values. It is a general problem anyway that will likely cause the game to slow by the mid 1950s if not solved.

Trot,
I was unable to reproduce your problem. can you save the game before it crashes and post a link to the save?

urias03,
1950 scenario is feasible (6-25-50 I presume) if you'd like to help out with an order of battle for the major countries at least. I did not have time to improve the Korean War battlescenario, as the arrival of 1.3 cost me about a week.

Jarno,
I'm doing the tech pictures bit by bit. I added the strike fighters and new escort models this time.

Someone commented earlier about installing an icon pack. I have included a SKIF-patch, so that if you have downloaded the SKIF package, you just overwrite a few entries where I changed the model definition. All this led me to more fully investigate the British and French model names, at least for the airplanes. I've included my opinions in the package, but I'll post it here for commentary. There is a slight factual inaccuracy regarding Model 12_5 for the UK. The Gloster Javelin is not a supersonic plane as called for by the specification, but this was left alone for lack of a better alternative.

EDITED:Notice I changed the Dassault Mirage IV to a level 7 strategic bomber. It's not truly intercontinental, but in my mod with Mach 2 capability model 7 is more appropriate than model 4. It was actually comparable to the B-58 Hustler.

There are a number of small conflicts between the two mods so for right now I'd say "no" but it should be possible to work out an adaptation of Confederate Armageddon.

Known issues:
1) You'd have to delete from CA the models.csv file. I already have the CSA models in my file and if you use CA's you'll undo the tech tree models fix. The only negative is you'll undo CA's Cuban models.
2) In my mod U00 is Catalonia, and in CA U00 is the Sequoyah nation. There are a number of ways to resolve this issue.
3) You'd have to add 1957 and 1963 elections to csa.inc

Continue to use the moddir method of installing CA, because you don't want to change the USA files for a normal game.

This a bit of an old topic to come back to, but anyway.

Just want to ask a few questions, and I'm a complete noob, here, so patience would be appreciated. :) Thanks!

Is there a way of just installing the tech tree mod and nothing else? I've installed the full mod but when I go to play a saved game from a previous 1936 campaign it crashes. I think this has something to do with editing that 1926 campaign...

I'm probably completely wrong. Oh and also I made two campaign panel pictures, if you're interested (one to replace the current Churchill's Nightmare picture and one to replace the 1936 Campaign with original events).

You cannot play a previous savegame. It will crash. The tech tree alone will cause that. You have to start a new game.

Sure post a link to your panels. FYO the original was derived from the idea that the USA drafted a series of Rainbow plans, originally envisioning having to fight the Axis alone, but delaying entry until 1943. The UK's unexpected resolve caused the US to include it as an ally in its strategic planning later.

Okay, I'll post the panels for you to see what you think ASAP. Oh and the panels for the Korean scenario and the Kashmir scenario appear to just show the dummy picture and are blank.

Otherwise this is a great mod, thanks!

The battlescenarios need some work. They are as given to me by Lt Hilsdorf, with only a few fixes, and are early releases just as the main body of this work was a few months ago.
In more detail the mod involves a redefinition of naval brigades in order to give light carriers the ability to carry first helicopters and later VTOL jets. The USA opted for supercarriers but most other nations wanted to shorten the take-off of aircraft from carriers, enabling the use of the cheaper light carrier as a deployment platform. Even the British opted for this approach. That's why savegames made before installing the mod won't work.

You are correct. The panels for the Kashmir and Korean war scenarios got left out and will be in 0.21.
