I have some mixed feelings from what I saw... on one hand there are pretty neat improvements like upgradable buildings and lane based networks, on the other hand, from the roadmap, it looks like the overall map sizes stay the same but with more smaller city tiles but which allow you to build close to the borders by default. Also the look don't catch me by now compared to my all modded C:S1 with more natural colors...

I think I'll wait until more information is available which allows a more technical judgement on what it actually means if I decide to build metropolis with 10M inmates ;)

I just noticed this... Notice the arrows on the ground pointing in the direction of the smoke? Is that wind and air pollution?

Would be nice to expand on what the minimum and recommended spec mean, especially considering recommended spec is pretty high:

Is minimum a "It will run" or a "you can expect stable 1080p60 at the low settings"? And same for recommended, is it 1080p/High, 1440p/high? This information might influence purchasing decisions over the summer for some people...
That's pretty hefty recommended graphics specs - well above a lot of 2023 AAA games, from what I can see. Which I do not recall being the case with CS1 in 2015, compared to the games of that time. Let's hope that's because the recommended specs are for really smooth long range graphics.

As it states on Steam:
Well it said "build luxurious beach housing areas, opening new possibilities for customization of your city." Not sure this description convinced me that the actual beach can build in CS2 because it said more 'housing areas' so I think we will be wait and see. Hopefully this asset pack will actually have a tool to make real useable beach for the residents.

There are some nice graphical and QoL improvements but so far it seems that (other than building upgrades and seasons) it looks like CS1 with mods. This doesn't mean it will be a bad game, but I definitely expected some revolution like completely new zoning system - buildings are unfortunately still coffined to squares. This is a flaw that I'm afraid may stay forever (unless CO will decide to revamp the system at one point but this will almost certainly break earlier savegames and many people will be furious).
I will definitely try CS2 in Gamepass but the game haven't got me sold so far :|

That's the same level of detail you get in Steam on any of our, and in general other, games, I'm afraid!

Minimum means the game is supported and tested on that hardware, and bug reports will be accepted on it - good performance not guaranteed though. Recommended should have good performance as well.

The game may well run on hardware under the minimum, but that's a matter of luck and may change with any game patch (as happened with eg CK3).

I too am very interested to know whether we can expect the continuation of multiplatform support or if things are heading back from the progressive towards the dark times of Microsoft only oriented gaming. Unfortunately it has been brought to my attention that one recent game under Paradox Interactive (Age of Wonders 4) has only been released for Windows (and the same set of consoles as those confirmed for C:S2). Which seems to indicate a change of thinking.

Now that pre-orders are open, can you please confirm whether Linux (and macOS for those on Apple) is going to be supported so that we can know what to expect? I've been very excited over C:S and now C:S2 but I don't want to keep my hopes up and then be disappointed after seeing all these beautiful images and videos.

And if you are indeed killing Linux support despite having experience with it's support would you mind elaborating on that a bit. Why and if the decision is hard fixed? Or if perhaps you'd be open for some crowdfunding or anything that could help persuading you otherwise? As I for one would indeed be happy to help crowdfund a Linux support and perhaps there would be enough people making it worth your time.

Thank you!

Some developers have recently been presenting a more detailed "system requirements" specsheets (for example TLOUp1), personally I would love something similar from Paradox especially if games going forward will be heavier. Just something to consider for the publishing team IMHO!

1:16. 25 people living in a 6 story complex? Oh no. Looks like the biggest flaw in cs1 is still present. Please let me be wrong.

Is it a flaw or is it just necessary scaling?

The game runs much quicker than real time so how would you represent 100 people going in and out of that every building every day or 50,000 leaving the stadium at the end of a game?

I'm OK with it so long as they get the balance right with workplaces - it was way off in CS1.

No Mac version? Is it planed? Will it work with the new porting toolkit by apple?

Is adding Linux support planned? I would preorder, but no way am I pre-ordering without knowing this. In fact I won't even buy the game if it's Windows only.
At this time Cities: Skylines II is confirmed for Windows PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
