Spain AAR 1628-1647:
The Great Bankruptcies were still occupying everone's mind in Spain and the soaring inflation was extremely damaging to the Spanish economy. However the Spaniards fought on. The economy is gradually improving, and long term aims are to control inflation whilst also investing heavily in the stagnant economy. More and more colonies are being set up around the globe, mostly in the Americas. So that now gold has no influence on inflation. Thousands of people are also being enlightened with the one true faith, of Catholicism, this opening even more doors in terms of economical advantages in America.
Outside of Spain's borders not much happened, till Austria dowed France, Spain duly viewed this attack and even contemplated siding with France agaisnt the aggressive Austria. However the war was really over before Spain could react and seeing that Austria did by no means destroy France she overlooked this.
Then later on, when the world was anxiously expecting Aus to dow Fra or BB, Aus unexpectedly asked spain if they were interested in a joint attack on England. Austria wanted a sum of money, whilst Spain wanted some colonies in america. Spain was in fear of the English navy however, which spain had no chance of competing with, and so nearly all the initial war effort was focused on NA. A lot of provs were initially taken in NA, though over the years the difficulty in reinforcing armies to far from our borders has resulted in england getting many of them back. Also Spain had expected a short easy war, however the inclusion of BB instantly prolonged matters and the fact that PJL stubbornly rejected all peace treaties, fair or nae, stabhit or nae.
Soon Spain had to start helping vs Eng/BB in northern germany/lowlands too, which took her attention off the colonies. Porto was reasonably successful in acquiring some southern colo's too adding more pressure to eng, tho he held out. And the recent treacherous attack by France, albeit expected, was also a blow to the already weak spain. However the initial onslaught by france was largely beaten by Spain, however fra can keep going much longer than spain, so the future remains uncertain....
