Apparently it's because if you were to let other people borrow/use the disc they would be granted the remaster game for free, and thus would be used to give an unlimited number of people the game for free.
PS5 digital upgrades from PS4 disc editions always require the PS4 disc edition to be in the drive to open the game, so only whoever had the physical disc would be able to use it

I still paid for the game this is ridiculous and i got it when the disk version of games were purchased more than digital downloads so for me being a long time fan of over 10 years of cities games im punished wow

Thank you very much for doing this helpful Q&A.

I have a few more questions, if that's okay.

1. Will the Xbox versions support Quick Resume?

2. Can we still use the standard version of all the Fall 2023 DLCs & CCPs with the Remastered game for the time being?

3. Is the node limit still the same? Or did you increase it?

4. Is the tree limit still the same? Or did you increase it?

5. We can move the game to an external HHD on Xbox & still be able to play it? Like say, The Crew2 or does it have to stored on an SSD in order to can play it?

6. Is the Map Editor the same one from the PC version?

Thank you.
Playing the PS5 version now. Some questions answered:
2. No, they're not available
4. 250k trees in the map editor, assume same for regular gameplay
5. XSX/XSS versions of games need to be either on internal storage or the expansion cards. Can't be used from USB storage
6. Seems cut down - following is available: terraforming (same as in game), water source placement, sea level adjustment, resource painting, tree painting (enlarged brushes available), roads (highways only), rail (normal, one way, CCP rail bridges), ship, plane path drawing, limited scenery placing (only ruins etc, rocks, trees)

well done team... just what we, (as dedicated players ) wanted, a quick query how "big" (GB) is this upgrade/remastered version ? As it is a separate "version" will I have two loads on my console ( original & remastered ) just asking in case I need to er.. get rid of a couple of games I dont play often... to have enough "space" on my console to d/load it... (TIA)
~9GB on PS5, seperate installs
Can I use the remaining unremastered DLCs in the remastered version?
No, only DLC up to and including Airports

FAQ says "currently digital only" which implies disc version upgrade will follow at a later date

Dos annyone know how dos this effect the Trophy's on console? specialy since i stil need the 1001 nights one :D
New trophy set, no carry over (Not looked in detail but I assume the trophies are the same though)
Do you say "Map Editor", so can I upload heightmaps? The heightmap of my real city?!!!
No, can only create new maps that are completely flat when you start, also cannot import maps that come with the game

So excited to hear about this! Will there be access to more mods than what we had access to in the last gen version? Or will we be able to download other players custom maps?
No mods or map downloads on PS5
Will achievements/trophy's and unlocked unique buildings reset when we upgrade to the remastered version?
No trophy carryover at all

Brilliant news, can’t wait.
I have a few questions though which are:-

1. Do you know when Airports, Plaza’s and Africa in Miniture Expansions will be released on the Remastered Version of the game?

2. In the landscaping tool will there be an option for placing water and raising water levels (I really want to build lakes, streams, waterfalls..etc)?

3. What will be the new Cim’s and Nodes limitations be?

4. Can we turn off road parking? (very annoying when a car is parked on a roundabout)

5. Is there a new and improved traffic management system added to this version? (like the advance traffic management mod that’s available by the community).

6. Can we add more inbound and outbound connections to maps already built by yourselves?

7. If we create a map will trophy’s and upgrade unlockables still be earned?

Thank you so much for the update, so excited about this.
1. Airports is included
2. Yes
6. 4 road, 4 rail, 4 boat, 4 ship connections permitted on map editor

I got city skylines on PlayStation plus will I still be able to upgrade over since I have a PS5?
No
Will road and vehicle updates be included in your remastered version?
No (as of the initial release, I expect they will be added around when P&P becomes available)

Hi I have a few questions:

1. Will the PlayStation edition receive the mod browser we have been missing?
2. What time on feb 15TH will it release
1. No
I see no mention if our unlocks carry over, please tell me we dont have to unlock everything again. Also please add a cheat option that unlocks all buildings instead of having to play scenario's to unlock since most of us are into the sandbox part of the game. We been asking for this for many years. On PC they can use mods but on console we cant so please add this option
No carryover at all. Only new unlock option is 25 tiles immediately available
Also can anyone tell me what DLC all of you have? Do you have plazas and promenades and skyscrapers etc.
All DLC owned, everything up to and including Airports is available. On PS5 you have to "buy" them again in the store, but if you own them for PS4 ver they are free

One thing to say about map editor; the entire map is available to terraform and place objects/roads etc. You are not confined to the inner 25 tile area. Obviously when you load the map to play on, you can't change anything outside the 25 tile area

You can also select the starting tile within the map editor, can't be done in regular game mode

Thanks for the remaster - very exciting to have new features in the console edition!

Quick question - I understand that the PS Plus free edition of Cities Skylines is not eligible for a free upgrade to the remaster. Is that likely to change at all? I am keen to get the Remastered edition as soon as possible but not if a free upgrade will be eligible at some point in the future for those who got the game free as part of the Monthly Games on PS Plus.

Thanks!

Hello, I got the base game from PS Plus EXTRA (not Essential), am I eligible for a free Remastered upgrade or do I have to buy the game?
