Is the Remastered version free?
  • Yes, if you already own the Base Game or any DLCs, the Remastered version of those products will be available to you without any additional cost. Please note that this only applies to digital purchases, scroll down for more information.
Will I be able to play with all my DLCs?
  • Currently, all DLCs until the 2023 release of "Airports" are Remastered. We are currently working on the remastered versions of the remaining DLCs (Plazas & Promenades, Financial Districts and all Content Creator Packs and Radio Stations released fall 2023) They will be available soon!
Is cross saves between the versions possible?
  • No, unfortunately not. The saves will only be available on the version you used when saving your City.
Will I be able to unlock all 25 tiles?
  • Yes!
Is the Remastered only available on PS5 and Xbox X|S
  • Yes
Will PS4 and Xbox One also get remastered?
  • No, unfortunately, the Remastered versions will only be available on PS5 and Xbox X|S. One of the main features we wanted to add was 25 tiles to build onto and sadly the older hardware of the PS4 and Xbox One would not be able to handle the simulation scale.
When will I get access to the new features?
  • Release of Cities: Skylines remastered is February 15th!
Can I still play my old Cities: Skylines Saves?
  • Yes, you can still play the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Cities: Skylines, there you have access to your old saves.
If I buy any of the New DLCs that are not remastered yet, will I get them later?
  • Yes, any content purchased for either version will give you a free copy of the Remastered version once that piece of content becomes available.
Will remastered be available for PC?
  • This is a Console-only update. The PC version of the game already has similar features that have not been accessible to the Console community - until now!
Will I have access to the remastered version automatically?
  • You need to download the remastered version of the base game and your DLCs manually, but they will be available without any additional cost automatically.
Why can't we have cross-saves?
  • The architecture of Cities: Skylines Remastered is different from its predecessor, to be able to accommodate Higher graphic quality, increased buildable tiles and overall better performance. Because of the technical limitations of old-gen consoles, we could not apply the same changes to that version, meaning it's two different code bases for the games - hence cross saves are not possible.
Can I upgrade my current Cities to the Remastered version?
  • See the answer above regarding save games and cross saves.
I can't access Remastered in Japan!
  • The release of Remastered on PS5 in the Japanese store is slightly delayed, it will be available soon!

I have a physical copy of Cities: Skylines, am I eligible for a free upgrade to Remastered?
  • Currently, only digital purchases are eligible for a free upgrade to Remastered.

I have a PS Plus version of Cities: Skylines. Why can't I access Remastered for free?
  • If you own a PS Plus version of Cities: Skylines that you claimed from the 2020 giveaway of the game on PS Plus, you will not be able to access Remastered for free. You will have to buy the game to own it & get a free upgrade for Remastered.
i have purchased large amounts of dlc for this game, via the ultimate content bundle as well as individual packs. In regards to the new remastered edition none of them are recognised as being owned by the new install. Ihave deleted all content and reinstalled several times and all parts of the content bundles are not recognised as being installed by the new version. Very disapointed. Itseems in order to use the upgrades i own iwill need to buy all of them again individually. Ihop you can fix this issue asap.

From what I understand, it's only the DLCs that will be available: Snow fall, After Dark (includes base game), Mass Transit, Natural Disasters, Green Cities, Park Life, Industries, Campus, Sunset Harbour and Airports.
The other DCL's:
Plazas & Promenades, Financial Districts, remaining to be updated in the future.
As well as all Content Creator Packs: Skyscrapers, Mid-Century, Seaside, Train Stations, Bridges & Piers, Vehicles of the World, Modern City Center, European Suburbia, Modern Japan, University City.
I don't think the radio ones will work either.

About achievements, I don't know.
Do we know what day we'll get the plaza dlc etc.?

I bought Cities Skylines Premium Edition, digitally, for Xbox back in 2018, and the Remaster wants me to buy it again. I can get it on Gamepass if I want, but I have to buy it again to actually own it?

I took screenshots of all my purchases of Cities Skylines items, and anything I originally purchased in bundles won't show as owned on their own in the Remaster.

It's a bug. Seems to be an issue if you purchased the game and/or DLC in packs. They are working with Xbox to address this issue.

Quite unfortunately, it appears that the best DLCs and CCPs aren't available in Remastered (yet I hope). Initially I also saw my DLCs were missing (purchased every single one), so went to the PS Store and was able to download them free again...and was so unpleasantly surprised to see that Plazas & Promenades, Skyscrapers, Heart of Korea, Financial Districts and Mid-Century Modern aren't there. I was so excited Initially, despite the fact that saves couldn't be transferred (expected and understandable) but to be honest, I am now more so thinking, what's the point of having 25 tiles to build on, with a LOT less assets to actually use. Paradox, please guys, give us everything, it's bad enough you kept us playing with 9 tiles on current gen for 2 years and now this low blow...Still love you though, guys

We are checking this now. It's possible that bundles are indeed causing a bit of a headache for the ownership checks and the Cities team have reached out to MS to get some help. I'd advise against buying DLC you already own as you are supposed to get the remastered edition for free!
What’s the ETA on this fix? It’s not just that. It’s also Xbox One Editions or versions that included DLC too it appears. I have I believe of base game that included DLC, season passes and recent smaller bundles. I got airports to load and basically nothing else when I own everything but a few radio stations that weren’t in bundles for some reason.

There has been a problem in the MS store where some of the DLCs you own are not available to the Remaster programme. Unfortunately their cache only refreshes every 24 hours so there may be a bit of a wait before this is resolved.

Sorry about that!

Will 25 tiles open under normal play? Otherwise; this is lame. We have to unlock all the buildings via achievements again, and we can’t even use the biggest feature which is rhe 25 tiles.
If it unlocks under normal play; we need better info in menus.

and for the love of god; y’all need to incorporate your DLC better so that base game and everything works better. Either condense base game to include everything released up to Airports or when you add DLC; add a free template using the new system. Example; incorporate City Park into base game, add golf course assets to replace it as 4th park in DLC; then improve all parks to work properly so they can be placed on paths. If need be; add a park maintenance building as first building that acts as pedestrian type garbage and good dump point that they can teleport junk.

so frustrating.

Since some played most of the day did anyone get 25 tile achievement like normal or you definitely need cheats to do it and don’t get achievement?
I did start a game with the unlimited money and milestone unlock cheats enabled. The milestone unlock cheat should give you you max tile unlocks instantly and it seems like we'll still be limited to only 9 tiles without the 25 tile cheat enabled.

Interesting so no matter what without cheats you’re stuck at 9 tiles with achievements but with 25 tile cheats and no achievement that’s very odd. Well looks like I’ll start normal and get achievements again and when it’s all done then i can do 25 tiles oh well.

It affects everything that came as a bundle so there's quite a few things that needs sorting. We got an update from MS late last night and we hope to have this solved by end of day today (Thursday) or Friday. There are quite a few things that needs to be looked at which is why we're a bit unsure if everything can be sorted in a single day or not. We're working on it though and as soon as it's all sorted I'll make a post in this thread.

Dear Paradox! I bought Citis Skylines Premium Edition on XboxLive in January 2018. Since then I've bought almost all the DLC and recently switched from Xbox One X to XboxSeries X. I also installed the ONE version with all the DLC on the new machine. However, the system indicates the Remastered version as available for purchase in the Xbox Store. So how is it now?

Please see my post above yours. The Premium Edition is a bundle so most likely it's affected by the issue I explained before. We're working on it and hope to have it solved by end of day.

Dear Paradox devs. In your FAQ regarding the remastered console version it states that you get the upgrade for free "if you already own the Base Game or any DLCs". I've got the base game with PS-plus, but I bought nearly all the DLC myself. Does this entitle me to a free upgrade to the Remastered version? I understand that the update isn't free for PS-plus versions of the game but you state that it is free if you have bought "any DLC". I have bought pretty much all the DLC but I don't see a way to download the remastered version for free. Thanks a lot for your reply.

Why are disc players being excluded? I bought the game in 2015 when online version wasn't even available to buy, so obviously hd no reason to buy a digital copy, yet im excluded from the remastered edition!

I have also bought many DLC and was going to buy more but not now. People who've bought DLC's are obviously long term players who don't lend or sell their games, no one is going to buy multiple DLC's unless they actively play the game and own it outright. I have had this game since release and have played it on Xbox One ever since just got a series X and you won't let me play, disgusting way to treat those who invest in your games.

Really doesn't pay to play with discs anymore you just get excluded from everything. MAKE IT AVAILABLE FOR US.

From the FAQ on page 1:

I have a PS Plus version of Cities: Skylines. Why can't I access Remastered for free?
  • If you own a PS Plus version of Cities: Skylines that you claimed from the 2020 giveaway of the game on PS Plus, you will not be able to access Remastered for free. You will have to buy the game to own it & get a free upgrade for Remastered.
The DLC you bought are indeed free but as you got the game through PS+ you need to buy the remastered version.
