Hi ! On first, sorry for my bad english.

I'm a console player with disc since couple of years. You said us that "currently", the new version is just for digital and nothing more for disc version.

Can we have more news ? Are you working on ? Any idea how long to wait (hours, days, weeks, months) ?

It's really frustrating not knowing. Thanks for your reply.

From the FAQ on page 1:

I have a PS Plus version of Cities: Skylines. Why can't I access Remastered for free?
  • If you own a PS Plus version of Cities: Skylines that you claimed from the 2020 giveaway of the game on PS Plus, you will not be able to access Remastered for free. You will have to buy the game to own it & get a free upgrade for Remastered.
The DLC you bought are indeed free but as you got the game through PS+ you need to buy the remastered version.
What about Xbox One users, I bought the game on release in 2017 on disc? you said 'all owners of the game' would get remastered for free?
Now on Xbox Series X I have to buy again. I highly doubt anyone would go through the trouble of lending friends their xbox one version of their game so they can install and play on xbox one and then buy a next gen console to get the remastered game. Besides most new players just buy a digital bundle with DLC, why are original disc players being excluded? I have bought DLC held and played the game for 6 years and can't access the remastered, but someone who bought a digital copy on 14/02/23 on old gen can boot up a new gen console today and get it for free.

That kind of sucks. I've paid more for all the dlc than people paid for the base game. But everyone who bought the base game for a few bucks now get it for free. It would be honorable of Paradox to give me the base game since I've spent more than €50,- on dlc. Oh well, guess I'll just have to wait for a sale on the remastered version because paying €40,- for the upgrade feels like I'm being scammed after all that spending on dlc.

Im in the same boat but for some time have just been playing the game pass version because installing of an optical disc is so painful compared to download speeds. I will play the remastered version of game pass too once all the dlc have been sorted

It's irrelevant I'm afraid ><. Physical owners will not be able to get the remastered for free. I know this sucks, I really do, but there's unfortunately no way for this to be solved.

Hello everyone, because of this problem with the Xbox platform, even the loading of the game is impaired, I watched some videos on the PlayStation 5 and the loading does not take long, apart from this problem with the DLC, should I contact Microsoft support? I really didn't expect this from you guys!

The game needs to say that in order to get access to 25 tiles you have to enable cheats and as such all triumphs, trophies and unique buildings (that require win condition’s to unlock will be forfeit) thus any saves on that file will not give you any achievements (basically future DLC’s/Expansions on that save file will feel pointless unless you just want to make the map look pretty).

25 tiles should/need to be unlocked via milestones not via a cheat and water placement should be allowed during normal gameplay not just in Map Editor.

If you read the description of the PS5 remastered version of the game it mentions the 25 tiles but not as only accessible via a cheat.

This is very misleading

It could be solved by letting us play, and then spend more money on future DLC's or those we don't already own, I know it's not your fault but Paradox won't be getting another penny from me now, theres no way I'm buying the same game twice when others got it for free when I should too. Messed up big time. Hope no one buys the game again. Also lied to us seen as they said every current owner will get it, didn't mention anything about digital only, it was all very vague on the subject.

Thank you very much for doing this helpful Q&A.

I have a few more questions, if that's okay.

1. Will the Xbox versions support Quick Resume?

2. Can we still use the standard version of all the Fall 2023 DLCs & CCPs with the Remastered game for the time being?

3. Is the node limit still the same? Or did you increase it?

4. Is the tree limit still the same? Or did you increase it?

5. We can move the game to an external HHD on Xbox & still be able to play it? Like say, The Crew2 or does it have to stored on an SSD in order to can play it?

6. Is the Map Editor the same one from the PC version?

Thank you.
Thank you!

Here are some answers I've been able to fetch from the devs so far!
  1. Yes! (So this is a hardware ability all games that use GDK 2021 and after have built in capability
    3. The node limit is the same
    4. The Tree Limit is the same
    5. Technically yes. On the Xbox Series S/X only one External drive can be used to play from 'Seagate 1TB Storage Expansion Card for Xbox Series X/S' All other External drives used with the Xbox can be installed to but not play from. So if the you have one of these drive then yes you can play from it.
    6. The Map editor is essentially the same as the one from the PC version besides a couple of slight changes to UI.

Is there an issue with DLC?

In 2019 I bought the 'Cities: Skylines - Season Pass' but all of the included DLC now says I have to buy it for the Remastered version.

I thought DLC carried over?
There is an issue right now where DLC that was purchased as part of a bundle is not being recognised as owned. They are working with Microsoft to have this resolved as soon as possible. They're hoping it will be resolved within the next day or 2 but with multiple bundles to work through it may take a bit of time. Once it's resolved you will be able to download the affected DLC for free.

Would it not be possible to work with Microsoft to enable smart delivery for those with disc versions who play on series consoles. I'm currently using the Gamepass version but none of my DLC is recognised which from reading here I understand will be fixed

is there way they can make Physical copy on disc for city skylines you can buy and or can take the disc version of the game and make it digital so can new free verstion game
Technically with Xbox that shouldn't be needed, going by other releases if it includes smart delivery users with a disc version of the Xbox one game once that is put in the series x it would install the series x version regardless of it being an Xbox one disc. It's down to developers to allow smart delivery but there may be a technical reason why it wasn't used here

What's the node and tree limit? Can we see it in game somehow?

After reaching it you just can't build anything even if the map is half empty?

I had the same issue when Tropico 6 was remastered. I had the disk and didn’t get the free next gen upgrade on Xbox. You win some and you lose some.

seriously, chill bro. Non of us are entitled to a remastered version. The team tried to do something nice and unfortunately you made a bad investment on a disk version you probably got on sale or even used. We’ve all made bad investments, move on and grow up.
