new ai's will not be part of the first release. The only thing that may get in are research preferences. It would be double work if we worked on ai's while making the new tech tree as it would most likely have to be reworked over and over agian to adapt to some og the quite drastic changes planned in the tech section compared to vanilla Hoi2.

Yes, what Ghost_dk said. The Tech Trees and unit model structure are the heart of any HOI2 mod. They are the skeleton that you need to hang on events, OOBs, graphics, AIs, etc.

Tech trees and unit model structure won't make any difference in the fact that a human Germany can conquer from Madrid to Moscow by 1942 by the average player. That doesn't make for an enjoyable game, especially considering that the most fun a German player can have is Barbarossa. At least, thats how it was in HOI1.

You do not understand what we are saying. The schwerpunk for this mod is the tech trees.

Also, as we have been working on CORE2, Lothos has been working on the AI for vanillia HOI2 1.3--he did 99+% of the AIs for 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2. Working on the AI in CORE2 now, would have been wasted effort.

I know the work of Lothos. I know that the CORE team also hated Lothos in HOI1. And I know that, despite Lothos's mod in HOI1 which vastly improved the AI, the AI in 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2 is piss-poor. I've yet to figure that out. In HOI1 fighting an AI Soviet Union was a challenge, especially with his Super AI Mod. In HOI2, the Soviet AI is a piece of shit.

As I've said, I don't understand how someone as talented as Lothos could create such a horrid AI.

Should I not expect many new events with CORE2, then?

Wow deathsai chill out!

There are tons of reasons why the AI has issues in HoI 2 vanilla etc.... and remember you can not compare Super AI Bunlde to Vanilla. In Vanilla I am limited to AI changes and some small in game changes as need be that the rest of the team accepts etc... For example I can not go in and change the vanilla infrastructure etc.... You will have to look at TRP for those kinds of drastic changes.

Now I have to agree with Kevin as he is on the beta team. It is in CORE's best interest to wait for patch 1.3 as the way AI is now coded has been completely changed. Patch 1.3 is going to provide the basis to everyone on a new way and style to code AI and certain types of events. Kevin and the rest of the CORE beta team is aware of this and they are honoring the NDA by waitting till the patch is released before they start implementing this type of coding style.

Now as for some other issues we have with the AI in HoI 2 are things like the AI not able to handle multiple fronts, what I refer to garrison overload and a trading issue. Paradox is aware of these issues and we have some general ideas on how to fix them. I can not promise they will all be fixed in any of the patches for HoI 2 but what I can say is that we are aware of them and we (the betas) are doing our best to push our diplomatic efforts with Paradox to get them fixed.

So in short give the CORE team some slack the reasons are very valid from an internal point of view.

Just a point of clarification. CORE2 is not waiting for 1.3, because of AI development or any other reason. Making changes to the AI is not on our priority list at all right now. 1.3 AIs will be better than 1.2 AIs, which were better than 1.1 AIs, which were better than 1.0 AIs, which were better than prerelease AIs, and I assume someday the 1.4 AIs will be better than 1.3 AIs.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were ZERO events for the first release.

Finally, if anybody thinks CORE2 is taking too long or is not what you will want to play--TOUGH.

I was wondering if there would be new tags used by CORE in the next version. It would be nice to have a tag for Brittany. The National Breton Party, led by Célestin Lainé (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Célestin_Lainé) collaborated with the German occupation army in anticipation of an independent homeland once Great Britain fell.

If this is not the right thread for this, could someone move this to the correct location?

I'm probably a little miffed at you because you never replied to my e-mails or PMs or postings on the forums when you first asked for beat testers for TRP. I might be able to understand if it was some random person, but I thought I'd get a spot, considering I beta-tested most Super AI pack releases.

Well, when can we expect TRP to be released?

I seem to recall claims that the AI would be infinitely better in patch 1.2. That, evidently, wasn't delivered.

Considering that CORE2 doesn't look like it wants to be the complete game adjuster, that provides a new experience in all areas of the game (Like in HOI1), I'd say that people have a right to be leery of this new mod. It clearly doesn't seem to be heading in the same path as CORE1.

I do hope that you aren't going to rely on Paradox to fix all the AI problems for you with their patches. They sure seemed to leave that up to the modders in HOI1.

First of all - wrong forum to ask about the status of TRP.

Second, you will be getting events with CORE2 - just not very many for the first release. You can't compare what we're doing now with the end-product for HoI1 (CORE0.9). What Kevin meant about not focusing on events and AI, but instead on tech trees is meant for first release only. Once we're satisfied (in general terms) with how the tech trees are done (which may be 0.3 or something), we'll jump on other things. We won't stop modding after that. I also doubt highly that each new version will be 7-8 months in the making. :)

I assure you we will look at every aspect of the game and determine if we think we can improve on it. Go to the coremod.org forums and take a look for yourself, or wait for the first release until you pass judgment.

That said - what aspects, specifically, do you feel we're ignoring?

There will be new tags, but I don't think Brittany is one of them at this point. Could be worth looking at if it was at least remotely possible.

Deathsai, all you had to do was ask to be a beta tester. I am not going to go around and twist peoples arms to do something. If they want to do it they will volunteer but at this point it is mute as 0.6 is an open beta.

As for CORE they are taking it in a project management level. They are takling what they feel is the most important piece to them to build the rest of the building blocks around their mod. They are also doing this for free so your patience is warranted and if you don't have any patience then I suggest you stop reading the CORE forum.

Baylox is right, all TRP inquiries should be posted on the TRP forum. I would suggest you move any inquiries over to that forum in regards to TRP before the moderators are forced to take action in this forum.

Last but not least the AI, there are some things I simply can not fix in regards to the AI and must be fixed by Paradox.

P.S. I am not a genius (as you claim but I appreciate your comment), I am just a workhorse that drills at something till it finally looks good to me. Patience is the all mother to situations like this.

Having read this thread, I am compelled to share that I am horrified by the manner in which deathsai is talking to/about modders. I hope he has a personal relationship or has paid you money up front, because if not I cannot imagine why he feels entitled to speak so rudely & abrubtly.

I also commend the modders who have replied for being very agreeable.

If you release something, I shall receive it gratefully & donate to show my appreciation. :)

By the way Deathsai you been on the beta list for TRP for a very long time. No clue why you never checekd the TRP forums to download it.

I recieved no replies to the e-mails and the private message I sent you on the TRP forums when you first asked for beat testers, and I wasn't about to go and start spamming your forums if you had developed a peeve for me for God knows what reason.

Kevins words in the start began all of this, and his "clarification" came quite late, and points to a different direction than what the other people are saying.

Svend, I've been playing HOI and other Paradox games since version 1.02 of HOI. And if you've been "horrified" by what I've said, you should have been around when the CORE team was openly attacking Lothos for "stealing" the work of an open resource exchange mod. Ironic, neh? Obviously, they've kissed and made up, (Or have they?) but I'm not bringing this up in ignorance of that.

Deathsai - if you have a problem with Lothos or Kevin, please talk to them via PM or e-mail. Personal discussions do not belong on a non-Off-topic forum like this one.

If you have any gripes about where the CORE mod is going (which is a reasonable question to ask in this forum), then please respond to my previous inquiry on what you feel we're ignoring. Or better yet, head over to coremod.org and participate in discussions - that way you can help shape the end-product.
