First time I tried to load the Pompei version (1.1) through steam it crashed with almost immediate message "Paradox crash reporter cannot locate crash file". This consistently repeats every time I try to load the game through steam. Help
i can't load a saved game. i can start a new game, but can't load an old one. it takes forever and then it crashes.
i deleted the game and reinstalled it, but that didn't help either.

If that doesn't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.
Please attach your Documents/Paradox/Imperator/pdx_settings.txt.
From your Documents/Paradox/Imperator/logs/ folder, attach system.log .
Please update that nVidia driver:
https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
And add imperator.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
If they don't help:
Please attach your Documents/Paradox/Imperator/pdx_settings.txt.
From your Documents/Paradox/Imperator/logs/ folder, attach system.log , and any other files in that folder over 0 bytes.
Are there no files in Documents/paradox/IR/logs/ over 0 bytes?
What antivirus app do you use?
You are getting a LOT of errors in that log that i do not see in a vanilla install. Let's make sure we have a good clean installation:
- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-Imperator
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Imperator AND Documents/Paradox/Imperator folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add imperator.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test
In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Stellaris or Documents Imperator locations, before installing again.
Not sure what you mean here , can you clarify?in wndows defender I seem to have two imperator rome files rather than the prior 1 only.

Does your error.log still have all those errors?
Please place the attached file in the Steam IR "games" folder. It should make the game write the settings.txt file and /logs/ folder to there, instead of under Documents.
If that works, there is still an AV app problem here.
No, I meant in Program filesx86/Steam/steamapps/imperatorrome/game/ folder.Placed file in Program filesx86/Steam/steamapps/imperatorrome as well as programfilesx86/steam/games and there were no changes
No, I meant in Program filesx86/Steam/steamapps/imperatorrome/game/ folder.
"It" here being settings.txt and the /logs/ folder? It went into Programfilesx86/steam/steamapps/common/imperatorrome and I got an overwrite message.

There's an early beta of 1.2 now available in the Steam Betas tab for this game - I assume that does not start either?
You put userdir.txt in Programfilesx86/steam/steamapps/common/imperatorrome and got an overwrite message? So it was there already? That could only be if you put it there previously, but in any case it will have no effect there. It MUST go into Program filesx86/Steam/steamapps/imperatorrome/game/ .1. Yes the "it" I refer to is the txt file that is attached to your post #14 above in this thread.
