Cool, I was hoping for some expansion features along those lines.

More effective brainwashing of kids? Exactly what we need!
crusader_kings_ii_conclave_16.jpg
That's the coat of arms of Toulouse, right? I wonder if that starts agnatic-cognatic and if Vuldretrada has any chance of outliving her five brothers before they have kids and becoming the most timid, affectionate duchess of them all.

Also note that she's only 4 and is getting a focus this early. I hope, particularly as a Muslim who has to micro educating every kid on the planet, this can only be done for nuclear family or something. Even if it's just family at court, there's gonna be a lot of insignificant clicking going on in the Ummah if this new feature isn't carefully implemented.

It's not so much a problem with other religions; I don't mind a couple extra clicks in any case. But don't the independent rulers in Islam still have all say on male dynasty members' education? .... You know what; never mind. As well they should, as maybe I'd be willing to invest in that extra clicking if only to avoid Decadent and the still cataclysmic Decadence wars.

Nice, keep the good work.... Are you also planning to update map in this expansion? Accuracy of rivers and provinces and province names? For instance Carpathia is completely off.

Great. Because it needs to be harder to manage your idiot vassals. If it works how I think it's going to work then once you get to either High Crown Authority or Empire Government it needs to transition to being easier to manage your empire, as a means of rewarding you for slogging through their inane requests and predictable disloyalty.

Surprised no one has mentioned this detail in one of the screenshots yet:

Looks like Byzantium is gonna get some imperial love.

Revised education, traits and a new diplomatic system sound awesome.
I'm very excited for kid focuses, and the way you seem to be changing laws.

And honestly I can't help but think "Really? Even with all the other combat variables combat already seems pretty heavily dependent on morale."

But I really hope that this giving councilors more power doesn't stack with factions. And how will this be effected by opinion? I feel like the implication is if a duke on the council wants to lower crown authority and I don't hes going to start factioning in general or for that specifically? That's fine so long as I can still bribe or improve relations him down.

If this is going to be powerful councilors with opinions of 100 still joining factions because hurf durf they want one specific thing that I don't, that isn't going to be fun.

And despite how utterly horrible the current regency system is. I still groaned at the words "During the regency the council votes on all issues, even those normally outside their purview" in that one screenshot.

Yes because regencies needed more power. Because a council of non royal people being able to do things that the royal won't be able to do even when he reaches age, yea that makes sense.

I realize the complexities of balancing a game of this size. Game balance, historicity, general fun factor the list goes on of things that need to be considered. But regencies should not be able to undue centuries of law buildup in 5 minutes. And to give them more power? How about we start with addressing the fact that the AI is singularly obsesed with lowering crown authority.

This already exists though since Charlemagne and the vice-royalties, as far as I remember.

Wait, why is there no intrigue focus for the child? How am I to train future plot masterminds?

Awesome; I've been waiting for some sort of legislature or council for a long time. This is fantastic.

You know, I wonder if Obligations is where the tax and levy laws are now placed and Inheritance deals with gender and succession (which seems like it would be a paltry menu). ... But that leaves us with mysterious council laws. Sounds exciting.

At a guess:

Heart: Either loyalists, or just nice people.
Fruit: The hardest to interpret - the economic party? Gluttonous don't-care-about-politics party?
Star: Decentralisation (opposite of the liege who is shown with a gold star on black background). These are the dicks who will keep voting to lower crown authority.
Hands: Obviously the religious party.
Thumbs down: Bastards and troublemakers. Not necessarily opposed to the liege, I think, though it would often work out that way.

Seen in other screenshot (vote on Holy War against a Slav):
Gold star: Liege. So the liege does get a vote in these meetings.
White hand: IDK, maybe it means you bribed them to vote with you? That would explain why it's not in the above list, and the hand looks vaguely like the icon for when you can bribe people into your plot.

At the moment my biggest question is whether councils can sometimes propose laws on their own, or if they're just restricted to voting on your proposals? And if so, will it be more interesting than "Lower Crown Authority"x1000?

Will it be compatible with existing ironman games? Or not like Horse Lords.

I'll understand if it isn't. It would just be useful to know that more ahead a time so I don't get invested in anything.

Isn't Imperial Administration just what we already had (i.e. lets you appoint viceroys)?

But what the hell's "Late"? Are we finally going to get some Late Middle Ages content?
