Here a screenshot of the italians units. When will finaly came the renders?
Thank you very much.
Details about the unit packs on the Steam page are rather.....lackluster.
Is there a chance that you could take a pic of some Germanic units? :)

I apreciate the Suebian Knot on the german light Infentery! Maybe are Franks a bit more merovingian than carolingian in disign, in comparaison with the early western generic, but hey, WTWSMS is my favorite mod and play the migrations with those units is gonna be delicious!

(Note that I do their publicity for free. Still waiting renders, Paradox!)

Again, much appreciated!
Yes, those German light infantry units look sweet. ;)

Can anyone post the roman unit renders?

The new Frankish heavy infantry sprite is wearing an early imperial Roman helmet.

What, you mean they are wearing the 2nd century Galea helmet?

Oh goodness I just noticed they are wearing dark-age Gallic helmets too. And they have the horsehair-plume over some helmets that were used only by the Mediterranean powers like Romans, Greeks, Carthaginians and others. I think no one other than Eastern Roman Empire/Byzantines should have them, and even they dropped that fashion by this time.

But these models are awesome no matter what. Much better than older ones. :)

Apparently, the "horsehaire plume" isn't on a helmet, but is frankish warrior haircut.

The one of the Franks in your own screenshot above have the horse-hair plume on the helmet, mate. :)

Ah! X) I've thinked you talked about the pikman and light infentery guys!

Well, like late varangian armor with axe as byzantine heavy infentery, paradox artists seems to favorise the most impressive sources over the most generals. I will have prefered the same helmet than heavy cavalry, but it Still look more frankish than anything anyway.

Its appearing in the CM start date as well.

Turkish culture is using the "Early Muslim" pack as well, in CM, which seems really odd. Is this a bug?

Not bugs, just simple strange errors from Paradox. Dark ages Italia, Iberian and celts will be better using generic early units, and turkish and persian using their uniques units, but in fact they just arn't made to be like that... o_O

Portrait also are badly setted for the early system: Spaniards and Andalusians must logicaly use respectivly early western and early muslim clothes with southern face, but in fact we need to mod the portrait ourself to merge dlc...

Thanks for the reply, its a great shame. The turkish models are one of my favourites, and my turkish holdings kept sprouting early muslim horsemen and it was confusing.

Is that a falx that the Frankish light infantry is wielding?

I did want to buy this, but the units look like they're more from late antiquity than early medieval. It would've perhaps been acceptable except for the Frankish heavy infantry helmet. :(

I have to agree with the sentiment that the Frankish heavy infantry unit's helmet does look a bit anachronistic. It does look like a Gallic helmet, or some kind of fusion of a Gallic and Roman legionary helmet. I'd be very interested in finding out what the artist's source was on that.

I personally think the old ones look more historically accurate than these. Luckily we still got them, I managed to mod them back.

There is a screenshot on the previous page of this thread. It's not unique for the Roman culture though, as it is intended for Italian and Lombard cultures as well.
Lombard culture uses the German sprites. The only reason you sometimes see the Italian units used by Lombards is the fact that they are raising troops from Italian provinces.

I personally love the new Italian, early Germanic and Mongol models. Not a fan of the Frankish ones though.

The new italian units are awesome, I feel so confident now going on crusades.
Also, the frankish heavy infranty looks too awesome... it should be put to better places like the roman culture. Ahh I am getting ahead of my self, It's soo cool.
The new mongol units look much better, they actually change colour according to you Coat of arms and dynasty shield.
