Still doesnt work, tried reinstall the game as well... Any ideas? I dont think I need to remove my mod folder from Documents...

Welp, I guess I'm no longer the target demographic. I hate this to a totally unreasonable degree. Thank god the screenshots I've seen so far also turn me off. Otherwise I'd be tempte to do what they tell me and play this bugridden game in Iron Man. *shudders

Seriously this really annoyed me. I know it shouldn't. But boy does it ever. I'll go for a walk now.

My main wonder on this is does one need to fully complete each challenge? If its only 7 challenges with 18 points each, which is the bare minimum, then that's 126 points which has a little excess but not a ton, but if they end up with 10 or 12 challenges, one needs to worry much less about trying to get gold in every category

Points carry over - this was confirmed in another thread by a dev. So the 10 points you have earned stay earned and in a restart game you can't add points for a gold level you've already finished. However, the objective tallies from the previous game don't carry over... If you had enough sons to get Bronze and earn 2 points in a previous game, you don't get silver level just for having a couple of sons in a later one - the sons in the current game need to reach the target required to get a particular level.

Apologies for the delay in response. Do you or anyone have a link to that thread? I've read the 3.3 patch notes on the wiki, which are brief; I would have thought all the information about Monarch's Journey would be here, in the Monarch's Journey thread.

I see people calculating the number of challenge points we need to do against the number of weeks we have until the estimated release of CK III but surely until the release date is announced, we have no idea how many points we need each fortnight to get all the cosmetics.

I just started playing the challenge and it's great! :)

And it's not like things like that are only seen in MMOs or mobile games, more and more single player games do similar time limited community challenges. You can nowadays find them in X-com and even Euro Truck Simulator :)

The only thing I was afraid of, was that they would require a very "gamey", hyper-optimized approach. I'm rather a role player that likes to do immersive stuff, that most of the time isn't very optimal when it comes to "winning" or map paining, but I was able to do silver without much problem by just playing the game like I like, great!

I'm just curious what the plan for the other challenges is. I have most of the DLC and I would LOVE for Paradox to add challenges in less popular places and cultures, that I haven't tried out before. But at the same time this would alienate people that don't have the DLC and make them feel like they are forced into buying additional stuff :( It will get kind of boring if those will be only European Catholic rulers. No idea how to solve it :/ Maybe two rulers, one vanilla, and one exotic DLC one?

Dear developers, have you considered it? :)

You can see the cosmetic items and how many points you need for each in ck2. It's stuff like facial hair that you can use on your character
So far it's all hairstyles (some male, some female) and one beard. These may be all of the things that will be available, but there's no reason for them not to add to it. 18 points being the maximum from the first challenge and each item costs 10 points.

As currently presented, I don't think there's any need to get gold level on everything. But we don't really know how long the mode will run, or if they will add items to the list.

On the other hand, if it does later become apparent that points will be tight, we have been asurred that old challenges will remain available.

I do expect this mode to remain in place indefinitely, as it makes no sense to get rid of what is essentially a tutorial mode for CK2 that encourages people to try CK3. Since adding new scenarios would require very minimal effort (it uses existing assets in CK2 and the rewards are part of the CK3 development anyway) it wouldn't surprise me if it keeps getting new challenges post CK3 release.

The smart thing to do would be to continue to seed free DLC, as they did with Old Gods for anyone who signed up for CK3 news, and put up scenarios for those. Since the actual rewards are going to require a CK3 purchase anyway it would not be unreasonable to require something like that given away to CK3 signup or pre-purchase players.

For that reason, I'm expecting at some point that Old Gods will be required for one of these. As well, if there are sufficient scenarios accessible to vanilla players to allow all rewards to be bought, they can justify throwing in a few that require specific DLC as both a reward for veterans/signup players and a carrot for people to finally buy them.

This feature was actually play tested via limited launch for about a year before this with a few characters being shown. One of them was Arwa al-Sulayhi I believe. A Queen of Yemen and someone I've seen compared to Matilda of Tuscany. You shouldn't need to worry about having characters in unique circumstances.

downvote me to heck, but, seriously?? cosmetic awards?? this is what paradox is doing now??
Well, for those like me who will not play the Monarch (or at least won't play it in the short term) the fact it's only cosmetic and not substantial awards is a relief. And I guess that's exactly the reason why PDX made them cosmetic only: to leave the choice to play it or not instead of "forcing" you to play it.

I can confirm that what mrinku said is correct. If you complete each challenge in a separate play through you will earn the same amount of points as someone who completes all three in one game. However, to reach gold in a challenge you must meet the requirements in a single game. E.g. you won't get gold in Konan's sons challenge ("Gloves Come Off!") by playing one game where you have three sons and another where you have two.

yo is there much point making bug reports about this. not trying to trash talk but if you guys are winding down on ck2 itd be fair to just forget about hotfixing goofy stuff that happens

i only ask because the monarchs journey score has been acting weird for me. it says i have zero points until i check the goals and it awards me all of them again
i also suddenly had them just stop counting midgame once and default to zero which i thought was because my trash internet dropped again since they were reawarded once i quit and relaunched, but now that its happening on the main menu while my internet is actively fine im thinking it might be something else

its possible the portrait mods im running are causing this somehow but itd be weird if they were

edit: i figured it out, its the checksum. when you first launch the game and its building the checksum, you get slammed to zero until its finished building and you check the goals. if youve been playing a game and you return to the main menu, the checksum gets a little weird and your points get revoked. it probably was the disconnected internet when it happened while i was playing. sure hope that doesnt make any weird shit happen with the unlocks
