DAIM for Doomsday Metathread - Information and discussions

After hard work now its done.
DAIM for Doomsday is ready.

Some things for release
  • DAIM for Doomsday won't support the new 1945 scenario
  • We still will support DAIM for HOI2 1.3b
  • AI for England was completely reworked
  • Improved AI fir Italy and Japan
  • adapted AI's for USA, China, Germany and the Sovjetunion
  • Version from 10.5.06

I'd like to thank Spocky for his commitment for DAIM as the new version is his work exclusively. I haven't played HoI lately as I'm disappointed with the Doomsday expansion in its current state. That's why there was little incentive for me to mod the AI to my liking.

You mean a changelog to Vanilla DD ? Or a changelog to DAIM for 1.3b ?
A changelog to DD 1.1 is impossible because I used the sources of DAIM 1.3b to make the DD DAIM. So I have no idea how the Vanila DD AI works.

I can post some screenies if you are interrested and you can ask concrete questions ;)

Some SS would be nice. Also, if you've played vanilla DD, what are the main differencies?

Also, I'll go and look at a 1.3b changelog...
 
cool thing. Now i'd like to know exactly what you changed. ONly building priorities (give Italy and Japan the ability to finally create some IC on their own, even Sweden increases its IC. The SU is giving me a hard time already, am i going to get steamrolled?

Build priorities haven been changed , but these to countries won't extend their IC because they don't get enough ressources for their ICs.
Different slider and minister Ai , different wargoal behaviour, ...

The screenies are from a USA game on hard/aggressive I had to abandon because it was to difficult :rolleyes:

Japan is kompenasating its carrier losses.
8 carrier build by japan + 11 build by Germany + 4 Japanese + 3 German + 1 Vichy make 26 in 1944 if I can't do anything against it.

very cool. Question though, what about that china setup? nOt vanilla, isn't it? and not SMEP related either. explanation? pleeeease :)
 
DAIM has a few customized events to prevent the AI from failing.
One problem was the chinese BP when japanese supplyconvois now transporting tons of supplies to china. The AI doesn't cancel these convoys and you can imagine , what the japanese industries says when every day over 100 tons of suppliy are shipped to china.

So the easiest way fro preventing this was giving the whole coast to japan in the peace

ah thank you. I believe you had that in your previous versions as well, didn't you? and that very supply problem proved to be a major game breaker for japan. Thank you, i will use this next game. And while i am at it, should i back up the whole game? or does the mod automatically backup the things? I remember something like this in your previous versions...

You have an updated backup and an updated DAIM unistaller with the new version ;)
 
US AI 36 build up is much better then in vanilla DD 1.1. It build infantry at once to defend country and IC. IN vanilla US mainland is long time without units what is very silly.

Some thing have to be fixed

1. Hungary at once access to Axis what is totally a historically. In pure DD it's better done and they go to Axis in 40' decade. To prevent it probably in vanilla DD aus_1936.ai is higher neutrality value:
neutrality = 150

in DAIM file is:
neutrality = 120

Event id = 29025 "Hungary lowers neutrality to join Axis: changes it to 50 and they go to AXIS when Germany is in war or with SOV or with Yugo.

2. in DD sov_1936.ai file is:
claim_acceptance = -49

and you can't for example get your core provinces from Russia playing Poland
without this value you still can - what is very wrong.

DD files compare to hoi2 have more such better changes. These 2 points are only a example. I think you cannot rely on old hoi2 DAIM-ed files copied to DD. You have to make changes on DD files. Take a deeper look at sov_1936.ai file. Original has 19730 B. Daimed only 7854 B. And a lot data is missing in it.There is no such values as: resistance = , province_priorities has less data, there is no ignore provinces values and others. There is not at all "air_marshal = {" values. I think these more data makes game better. Why to loose them ?

Kristof73, we made the experience that more isn't automatically better. ;)

We can't and won't restart our mod every time a new AI version comes out, even when this rate has gone down. We try to identify the tweaks that are useful for us, but this usually takes some time and version numbers. ;)
We take your suggestions serious though and will make adaptions.
