A mod inspired by Germany's 1933 scenario and Hearts of Iron 4's a-historical possibilities, using two files (so far).

Designed to promote as much player freedom and fun as possible, this mod adds player decisions to take a completely new path alongside the history of world war 2. Making way for revolutions, the new possibilities that come with them, early decolonisation and more. This all occurs within realistic boundaries of the time period, but you'll have to suspend your disbelief in terms of how they come about.

To ideally be used in the early stages of the 1933 scenario, essentially transforming your start position.

You can play this in multiplayer, but just make sure you and your playmates agree on what you are doing beforehand ;]

Countries included and the level of content so far:

(1.2)
UK's Day of Decision
  • Fascism or Communism
  • Changing the governments of the commonwealth.
  • Federalising the Empire (Fascist and Communist styles)
  • New alliances.
Decolonisation events (separated by continent)

Japan's Day of Decision
  • Democracy/Communism/Friendship with China/Transform Manchukuo into the Qing Empire
  • New alliances
Status of Korea (Independence for ROK or DPRK depending on government)
Manchukuo's claims on the USSR (Outer Manchuria)
Mengjiang's claims on the USSR (Greater Mongolia)
Aligning Tibet (must be at war with China)

Russia's Day of Decision (these are numbered in-game to help guide you)
  • Absolute Monarchy/Constitutional Monarchy/Nazism/Republican Democracy (Mongolia and Tannu Tuva follow suit)
  • The choice to bolster Mongolia with land in the east.
  • Status of the USSR's former republics (Freedom/Keep Ukraine and Belarus/Maintain the Empire)
  • The choice to create a Siberian state.
  • [if chosen to keep the west or maintain the empire] The choice to add cores in Europe.
  • The choice to befriend (puppet) the Baltic states
  • New alliances

Recreate the Ottoman Empire (transforms into Ottoman Empire and adds generous cores)

Bring back the Kaiser

(planned - independent states in occupied USSR)

Force reset (now French troops can reach full organisation)

France's Day of Decision
  • Fascist France/Communist France

  • New alliances

Yugoslavia's Day of Decision

  • Claim greater Yugoslavia
  • [If Fascist] create a new European Bloc with Hungary and Poland.
  • [If Communist] Join the Soviet Bloc

Austria's Day of Decision
  • Habsburg Austria/Communist Austria
  • {If Habsburg] Revive the Habsburg Alliance with Hungary and reclaim lost land
  • [If Communist] Create a new multinational communist bloc
  • [Both] Take a bite out of Hitlers Germany to become the one central power

Just unzip the folder in the DH directory.

The events work seamlessly, but any help with structure or pacing would be appreciated.

While I will continuously work on this, any further ideas/feedback would be excellent. Testing over the full duration of a game would also be helpful.

Wow, didn't see this coming. Sounds intriguing!

A Version for France ? With the 6th february state'coup of 1934 ?

Interesting. Just read about that.

I have trouble with France because it seems their army is coded to be weak, as in purposely made to fail against Germany. As soon as I can reverse that it would make more sense.

What direction would a fascist France take?

Full changelog please :D

I'll try to get it down.

EDIT: Done

Alliance with Italy, support Franco in Spain, probably would want annex Wallonia or all of Belgium and Luxemburg. French fascists were anti-German so there is possibility of war with Germany over Rheinland or Austria (if alliance with Italy is concluded)

Okay. Happy to work on that...just need to figure out how to make the French forces full strength.

would be nice something like a monarchist coup in italy or restauration of the austro-hungarian empire (waking the tiger like)

With Italy that could be done. With Austria Hungary I'll need to see if there are available ministers and leaders for the time frame. If not, I could just adapt Austria into an Empire.

Only at the price of Nice, Corsica and Tunisia :D
Seriously, an alliance with France was unthinkable in the 1930s.

I still think I would continue with that. The mod itself is more about fun and replayability than complete historical accuracy. As France, I will probably give the option to hand over Tunisia or not as part of the "negotiation" (which will be accepted to prevent having to save scum).

When the events went ? It'is on the 1933's scenario or 1936

I recommend using them in the 1933 scenario so you can adjust to whatever new regime you have (plan etc.) provided you are not at war, most decisions can be taken from 1933 - 1964

Oooh this all looks very interesting, however I hope its not just something as simple as selecting an event. Restoring the Tsar to soviet russia or the Kaiser to Germany, especially in 1933 would cause significant upheaval and maybe even a civil war like situation.

Leftists are pushovers. ;) Though realistically, Russia would be brutal with torches and pitchfork warfare, whereas Germany would face off with standard armies and stockpiles for militia.

This link is the coat of arms of Austria between '34 and '38. It is from old of the Holy Roman Empire. Habsburg seems the most peaceful coronation to occur. It might have happened as a cooperation with restoring Germany, so that provides a whole and fit ally immediately for the divided Germans. Who would it be? Otto, and Wilhelm?

Unfortunately it does, at least for now. I do want to space the events out more, but you have to remember that while all this is going on with the nation you are playing as, the rest of the world is continuing as normal. (The AI cannot fire these decisions)

If not, we kind of end up with a convoluted Kaiserreich scenario.

This mod allows players a new starting place for world war 2 - the sort of things people were doing themselves for AARs, but readily accessible and available IF you wish to use them.

For example, I always wanted to change my governments with more ease. So I ended up doing that, and then some.

Japan -> Democracy -> Choice to give Korea their independence -> Choice to turn Manchukuo into the Qing Empire...
DOWNLOADING THIS.

Time to create a real, a good Co-Prosperity Sphere for Asia.

Good news is that I'm about 80% done with France.

Also found a way to get rid of their organisation cap, meaning you can now have a good chance at invading Germany.
