Do you only get a fixed number of units per match then?
Yes, here's an example of the deck system from one my... more fun decks ;) glorious land based USMC deck
as you can see, there's a little green number at the bottom left hand corner of each unit image, that's how many of that particular unit in whatever veterancy I have selected available
*full disclosure, this isn't a very good deck, I use it in clowny 10v10's

Those have been taken into consideration, and added in small numbers to divisions.
Will you guys do dev diaries like paradox typically does? I just think it'd make it easier for me to decide if I want this game as I usually am a dedicated paradox gamer. And do you think a computer that can kikd of run paradox games ok can run this?

Eugene does do dev diaries, iirc if you can run say, Cities:Skylines then you can run Wargame which this shouldn't be much different than

I haven't gotten a paradox published game before so I don't know :p

Paradox may (and I think should) request that they do dev diaries to help build hype and keep the community engaged. That's the sort of PR Eugen has always been a bit lacking, and which I hope they could learn from Paradox.

That said, the game is already in closed beta so it can't be terribly far from release at this point. I'd bet any money they're aiming for June Sixth... so if it's three months away that's -maybe- twelve developer diaries so is that enough to justify making the effort?

I think what's going to happen is that you are able to chose from a set of battlegroups, then go within them and chose individual perks and shift around small numbers. Nothing too serious. If you're playing against the 12th Panzer Division, then you'll expect Panzers and Panzergrenadiers and no Fallschrimjager or what the hell not.

I just wish a DevBlog to the Deck System comes out as soon as possible.
To make "mistakes" with that one is worse than Tiger II having the wrong front armor.

Will I as german even read "12. SS-Panzerdivision" in game?
Questions, Questions

TBH I wouldnt be suprised if they are completely not in the game, at least the 12th, given its the "hitler youth" division isnt it? I could see that minefield being avoided given the culture of complaints thats built up recently.

As for the decks, so long as i can bring lots of tetrarch littlejohn support for my paras, i will be happy. Will i be able to do this?

It was right on the beaches, no way in hell they won't add it.

I wonder how divisions are going to be balanced. ABN units in WWII were really, really lightly armed compared to leg infantry, let alone armored units. That's going to be a huge problem in-game if the deck specs are in any way realistic.

On the other hand, if they are in multiplayer, will we be able to deploy paras and gliders live on the battlefield? Not like we have helicopters this time around...

Something that would be SUPER amazing if it could happen is gliders/airdrops are setup prior, like, you say "at x min this drops in here", so you have a pre-planned setup, you must hold your landing zones or have zoes that you plan to use for harassing. Prob wayyy out there. At least, in my head this would be super cool.

I don't really know how else you could implement them except as a way of introducing flavor, at least in MP. In SP they can be used as they were IRL- to drop behind the enemy and occupy them/hold points until the heavies could come up from the beaches and support.

In MP? Assuming we're playing Wargame: Red Dragon: 1944 edition, they'd just have elite infantry... and that's it. Inferior in every other way (arty, towed weapons, armor, transport) to any other kind of formation, and they can't even fly around and flank/ spam millions of Hinds like they can in WRD.

This is more or less what I suspect will happen. Given Eugen's history of aversion to tactical paradrops, I don't think we'll be seeing too many troopers falling from the sky CoH-style in the middle of a battle. Hopefully the detachments mentioned on page 1 will help shore up airborne's gameplay weaknesses, lest they go the way of the Wargame airborne spec.

I am hoping for a realistic division pool. Rather than a cherry picked one. Like close combat.

I'm guessing that TOE will be semi pre-set. But there will probably be some customization available within that.

As for airborne, the phase system they have should take care of that. Airborne will be really powerful early when its just skirmishing infantry but fall off when heavier assets come onto the field.
