There now are events that make you lose claims, which is good. But due to the new pledgingrules, where catholic people from all over the map want to become your vassal if you are playing a catholic, you get way to much claims.

Since those far away vassals break away again and that gives you a claim. After 100 years of gameplay on Very Hard I already can no longer see my individual claims, but just the one on top.

Another minor thing about that pledging is that you can't say no to the count or duke but he then keeps on spamming you and then you agree just to get rid of that pop-up. I know it is not possible to teach the AI that No means No, but this system needs to be tweaked.

I like my realm to be clean and tidy, as a king I only want duke-vassals and those dukes should control their default area. But this is now impossible, as king of Poland I have vassals in Spain, France, Ireland, England, Scotland, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Italy, Sicily and Hungary.

So play a DUKE and you won't have that problem. ;) Playing Duke or Count now is definitely the Hard and Hardest difficulty mode now, especially with your liege being able to end all wars you start. You'll be pulling your hair out because of all the wars that you start that will be ended time and time again. lol You'll waste precious prestige points and playing Hard and Hardest you already know how much claims cost with those settings. So much for conquering the entire map as a duke ;)

either you're exaggerating horribly or the problem isn't the game. the only lag i'm seeing are those couple extra seconds at the end of the month. in the minds of most people that is anything but a mess.

Sorry, but, I agree with Nikolai, this delaying lag at the end of every month is annoying as hell. I'm wanting to use my mouse or open a window and there it comes again that annoying 2 second delay every month. I don't see why they can't purge everything at the end of the year, do it ONCE a year at autosave since I'm used to that one long delay after every year. That's not annoying as every month I get mouse jitters and jerks off screen.

1. The EU3-style scrolling map text telling me a technology has spread is nice, but I prefer vanilla's pop-ups so I know even if I'm looking elsewhere at the map. I checked and there's no option for it. Sucks.

Yeah I have to agree with this also. I mean research/techups don't come around that often so what was wrong with the popups like before? I think they should just be in the popup options page and let us decide if we want them or not and how we want them either as a message or a popup continue or a popup pause or nothing at all.

Any ETA on when stability issues will be adressed? I keep experiencing random CTDs with increase in frequency as game progresses. After some 25 years of gameplay I've reached a point where CTD happen in less time than minimum autosave interval.

I keep knocking on wood I haven't had any crashed at all yet. I played to nearly 1100 before starting over and I'm near there again at 1083 and no crashes so far. (knock on wood). I still think it's because of sound cards. Ever since I went to onboard sound I've had a lot less problems with all my games that used to ctd. I don't think Creative makes them like they use to anymore (sound cards that is).

I had a CTD after a few days, which was scarry, but it's running smoothly since then and I like the new features a lot.

I like:
- getting a claim for being insulted
- sending my children away to spy on foreign courts :p
- the sue for peace options
- to know who's claiming my titles, so I know whom not to invite to my birthday party ;)
- to know how old my claims are
- falling in love with my wife. Call me old fashioned. :eek:o
- the message banners are especially usefull
- the new courtier system
- cashing in on my good stability after a long war
- the relationship value, so I know who really deserves to be conquered. :p
- tech messeging :D
- finally having an inheritance ledger
- getting young chicks instead of merrying neighbours grandma, because I'm to lazy to skim through countless dautherless courts or waiting 10 years until she turns 16 when I finally find someone promising.
- that there are so many new layers to the game, that I had to rework my strategy completely to take most of it into account.

I don't like:
- my imbecille son still asking me for a court position
- not having enough time to play deus vult.

Things I have noticed in 2 days of play so far that are starting to get annoying.

1. Too many events that destroy intrigue and not enough ones that give it. I've gone from an 8 intrigue ruler down to a 2 because of events of either gain a rival or take an intrigue hit. Why are all the good traits the ones that destroy intrigue?? Couldn't you have some good ones that give intrigue AND the other good ones? I'd rather take a hit to martial or diplomacy than all these intrigue hits. To have high intrigue one has to be the meanest cruelist dishonest hateful hostile lol worst nightmare in the game and that just don't seem right there should be a balance and still have high intrigue. Anyone who plays a goody two shoes can forget having a large amount of provinces to control. ;)

2. When using the ledger and then clicking up the character page and wanting to go back to the ledger I have to close the character page then click on the ledger button again. Why can't the character page disappear when one clicks on the ledger button?

3. Flashing events I don't get to see what they are, events triggering behind events and I accidentally click on a response before I even get to read it these events are triggering so fast behind one another. I have to set nearly everything now to PAUSE when it triggers to keep from clicking on something I didn't want.

4. That delay at the end of every month has just about become too annoying to enjoy the game. Did you even test this yourself Johan? Can you sit there and tell me you played an entire game with this annoying feature every single month till the end of the game??? I didn't have issues with the game before slowing down near the mid or end game, so, this is just plum damn annoying to me.

5. Sticking crusades armies that don't go anywhere because of the neutral zones surrounding their objectives. Without Velds workaround this breaks the game as far as crusades go. It still happens on occassion with various factions vs other various factions.

6. Perhaps too many rivalry/friendship triggers pct. There's a popup every other second sometimes in a row. Not to mention these are the ones that screw up my intrigue trait.

7. Why all the hate from courtiers. I never saw so many unhappy courtiers in all my time playing vanilla CK. When I look at the ledger page I see - - - minus minus minus due to character traits. I have more people leaving than I have coming in. Hell my own kid hates me. lol rofl at that one. All my wives have negative traits and hate me or run off with the chancellor or postman no wonder skitzophrenic popsup so often in the game, it's making me that way in real life. ;)

That's all I can think of right now. Those are the ones that have stood out most so far. That delay once a month though that one is starting to piss me off moreso than anything else. Please make that an OPTION if nothing else or at least change it to once per year and soon. ;)

How to make Deust Vult a better experience

I was never able to play a single Deus Vult game over 100 years without a crush down and it may be very annoying. I hope there will be a patch to increase stability of teh game.

In case of Realm Duress event all vassals should declare themselves either for their rightful liege or the new pretender as soon the rebellious vassal declare independe and the game fires the Realm Duress event, thus saving the liege from the prestige and loyatly loss that follows subjugating the rebellion.

Existing coutiers should be hired as tutors for the royal offspring, increasing their administrative and military skills, this proving able administrative and military leaders that a large and wealth kingdom needs

There must be an option to bribe/financially support and motivate a rebellious vassal of a Rival character to declare independence and triger realm in duress event

Liege Lords should have the options such as jousting tournements, hiring ministrals, holding a carnaval/fair or constructing a great cathedral to increase the stability of their realm and loyalty of their subjects. Each option should have different cost, effect and duration.

A liege lord should have the option to offer a position in his court to an able courtier from another realm in return for gold or hand of a lovely maiden. The existing liege of the courtier will have the right to object or approve the offer.
If he objects than courtier can still depart but it will depend on a couple of factors such as countries relations, stability of the realm...but he does relations between two countries will detoriate. If the existing ruler is a friend, friendship will be lost if not a new rival might be gained.

I have a relatively new gaming PC and it's not really playable. Too many crash to desktops. Really unstable on my machine. I got too many crashes so I am just gonna put it on the virtual shelf until there is a patch that makes it playable.

I really cannot understand why people are complaining about the lag at the end of each month. I mean, wow, 3 seconds, that's such a long time!

Because when you are playing at the speed I am every 30 days isn't very long and it's like play skip play skip play skip...think of it like a record and it's stuck in that one position and keeps playing the same thing over an over again and never stops until you hit it. It's just annoying as hell because it always seems to be activating JUST when I want to do something. So, everytime I goto do something it's delaying that 3 seconds and that gets annoying as like the other guy said it's a BIG difference from zero delay when you are used to doing things constantly like I am.

More suggestions for more fun Deus Vult

There should be events in the realm that the liege lord can send his/her courtiers.
Examples:
A witch is conducting black magic
Villagers are complaining about unjust taxes
Bandits are terrorizing the countryside
A pack of wolves are attacking the animal stock
A see monster has killed many fisherman
A dragon has attacked the village
A treasure is rumored to be buried in a remote part of the realm
Very beautifully maiden is hold prisoner for ransom
Sword of Mars is rumored to be
There can be dozens of events such as these above every month asking the lord whether or not he wants to intervene. If he chose not to do anything then he losses small amount of prestige based on the nature of event
If he decides to take action than he has to chose an appropriate courtier for the task. Certain events such as fighting a monster would require strength in martial, where as others such as investigating about a witch clerical, finding a treasure espionage or deciding whether or not taxes were just administrative skills.
Difficulty and possible completion time of the mission will be shown based on the skill-set of the particular courtier chosen, at that time liege lord will have the ability to decide whether or not send that courtier or chose another one. A courtier that lacks basic skills will suffer the consequences including a painful death
When/if the courtier returns he will provide a mission summary; for example find the witch and killed it. Then liege lord will decide whether or not the courtiers actions will be appropriate under the circumstances.
Based on the outcome of the mission and reaction of the liege to the outcome both the courtier and liege lord will receive prestige, character traits and increase in their skill set.
At the end of the reign of each lord, there will be a short summary of his life listing his birth, upbringing, major accomplishments battles and quests
Any feedback!, these were all came to my mind

My main problem is that it freezes the mouse pointer. It's quite annoying. And according to Paradox's response, it apparently could be done once a year, instead of monthly, when most of the players autosave anyway. They even suggested it was a problem that only concerned "lower end" machines, completely ignoring their customers' alleged specs (P4's, 2 gb of RAM). Dismissing a problem that annoys customers whose machines are well above the recommended specs is not the professional approach.

Incidentally, there is an issue with autosave. If you press pause when it's autosaving, it will skip about 10 days into january, even though you pressed pause on the 1st of january.

I'll quote myself from a bit up the page.

On my single core computer it runs perfect but on a dual core computer I'm using it's pretty unstable. After running http://www.robpol86.com/Pages/imagecfg.php it seems to be a lot more stable. It might just be me, but no harm in trying I guess.
Since I've done this I've had no CTDs, outside of the occassional one when sending fosterlings.

I have a dual core and mine runs fine, I've just played for four hours and I had one crash..

Well now that I've played for close to 20-25 hours or so, I guess it's time to give some feedback. This is going to sound petty and critical for a lot of stuff but I think we've had enough time to fix a lot of the lingering problems (and some new ones!) - overall I'm really happy with the expansion though.

At any rate here we go:

1. The new system for changing resolutions, despite being an absolute godsend in that we can finally play in custom resolutions/windowed mode without editing crusaders.exe, still needs work. We shouldn't have to mess with text files in the program's directory (especially as this is a complete pain on Vista as most people have no idea how to run programs as administrator, which is required to edit them. That or login as administrator which you don't really want happening) just to get into a playable resolution. There's really no decent reason as to why the resolution stuff hasn't been moved to the in-game options menu.

2. For running in window from command line (the only way to achieve this functionality at the moment, no?), the game will only accept "window" and not "WINDOW" as the argument for defining resolution. WINDOW should work just as well, but whatever, it's just kind of sloppy programming to expect the user to ever follow proper case for anything other than usernames and passwords. Not to mention that it was mentioned that the argument was "WINDOW" in the .pdf someone on the dev team posted on release day.

3. The AI will still spam peace offers. Tone this down a ton in the first patch, please, as it makes getting things done in a timely manner quite impossible during wars. That or move peace offers to notification tabs in the top right a-la unmarried family member or whatever. Have them flash if you think the player will miss them, but you shouldn't really let the game throw up more than 2 of the identical window on the screen, ever.

4. Armies taking repeated losses will not be captured or disbanded. You can still ping-pong armies around. Force-demobilize and drain the strength from units at zero morale who are getting bounced between two armies. This combined with peace offer spam has brought one game I have as England to a pretty much unplayable state. No 11th century peasant is going to keep running into one of two enemy armies over and over just because his idiot (anonymous) lord is still intent on fighting for an idiot (anonymous) courtier in some pretentious jerk's (me) court.

5. Armies don't take losses at all unless they actually have time to fight it out. The cavalry of the winner should be taken into account in simulating chasing down retreating enemies (aka another solution for army ping pong and spam). This is a great way to make engaging actually mean something, since right now you can basically flee-exploit all you like to prevent sieges from going on and what not. Or you can do this in reverse and get flee-exploited by the AI such that sieging a hill fort takes over two years (re: previous game as England).

And that's about it. Looking forward to the inevitable "working as intended" replies regarding army problems again

Edit: bring back the option to move technology spread (or just that outside of your capitol province) to the log, please. It's nice to see the new addition but it also contributes a lot to displaying information that, for all intents and purposes, doesn't really matter. Even on very fast I have enough time to make sure that all of my provinces have all possible buildings, and that's just a fraction of the spread text.

Here's my opinion so far.

Likes-

1. The lack of tech pop-ups

2. Pagans/Muslims actually ask for and accept peace offers. Now I can have a strategic war for a few provinces instead of having to take the darn kingdom.

3. The fosterlings, rivals and friends feature is great. It brings back one of the unique things about CK, the character relationships.

4. The ledger (finally) leaving the ledger out was a big design flaw with CK.

5. So far no Sheik of Praha etc

6. Chicken tech is now Poultry Domestication, much better.

7. BB for taking Pagan/Muslim provinces.

Dislikes-

1. CTDs (they say they are working on it)

2. Weird liege's (Italian counts part of Sweden etc)

3. The monthly pause (make it yearly I'm used to that already)

That's all I can think of right now, I'm sure I'll think of more.
