Cool designs but can you guys address all that's been said about the open beta? What are the priorities now? Is previous DLC content being revisited? I was working on research for a brazilian suggestions thread and I hope I can expand it if the devs take notice. Is GoE being revisited or are we forever stuck with the "Army" spirit for Iraq and a lot of "buy equipment" focuses?

We have no plans to revisit old DLC at the moment, same for GoE, except through future war effort patches, so if you do make a very helpful research post, this could insprite our content designers to pick up some of that stuff for said future war effort patch!

Well. let me just tell that content designers and programmers are not actually working at 3D models, you know?
They could create some historical skins & models matching vehicles that already have 2D art?

Most countries have no Heavy airframe model beyond the very low poly p.108 that the game launched with.

There's what, three countries with flying boats? Five jet models?

Skins and models for more trains would be interesting too, right now only majors have unique ones.

The devs created a dozen unique horses for cavalry that most players will never use, yet most countries have no unique naval models.

And plenty of these could be shared between countries as well. When Belgium got a Heavy airframe model (Vickers Valiant) the UK got to share it.

Never mind the Names, 2D and 3D art not matching for the US and several other tags.

The respondents so far appear to have a preference for more-or-less adhering to history.

I can see their points:

In a history-themed game, one expects , well, a good dose of history.

The HoI4 customers that like the "Let's Play Make Believe" haven't yet made their voices heard...as this thread matures, we might hear comments from customers such as, "These images are really cool. I'll buy them for myself and buy extra for my HoI4 gaming friends".

Edit: As I was typing the above statement, Scyobi_Empire chimed in to embrace the Soviet SMK Heavy Tank with enthusiasm.
The SMK Heavy tank is the most reasonable tank of them all and should have been in-game a while ago.

Made an account to just say this: this and the past 1 year were disastrous, laughable and embarrassing from both direction and actual quality of releases. Please re-evaluate. This is from someone who sank almost 2000 hours into this game, and bought all dlcs.

Thanks Paradox for trying to move the attention away from the terrific abomination the last dlc is by giving us funny meme stuff (for our money) instead of fixing the game.

so whats wrong with optional 3D models the AI never uses?
At what point do you say too much? When the designer has anime skins?
in the DLC pack for prototype and experimental vehicles?
Nevermind this really shouldn't have been a DLC pack in the first place - I'm sure there are more grounded designs, as we see from some of the selection.
what are they going to add? more elephants?
There's plenty of 3D art that could've been added to GTD and GoE outside of more elephants

Can't you at least do some changes to Iraq's ai historical strategy plan? Make things happen more historically instead of an early war in 1940 as well as an early capitulation? Also allow the focus to restore the regent be taken after capitulation? That last one would only take changing the value in the national focus file "available_if_capitulated" from "no" to "yes".

I've been asking for this since GoE launched.

Also, are there any plans for a ships pack? All ship models are still generic.

Some of these are cool and make sense for the game (such as the Waffentrager and the Sov. super artillery), but most are just ridiculous. I'm all for alternate WW2 tech, but this doesn't even fit in that category. So many awesome obscure german and allied designs, yet you pick weird vehicles from beyond the game's settings.
We tried to provide a broad selection of different models, both realistic and more fanciful. It's amazing just what actually made it into the war, just look at Hobart's Funnies.

Are these only 3D models? Will they come with accompanying 2D models or will they be mismatched with the existing ones.

The model pack includes 2D icons for each of the models.

Are any of them new special projects? There are so, so few land projects ingame at the moment, I feel like a bunch of these (articulated tank, heavy amphibious, round tank) would make amazing new projects

No(t yet), this is a cosmetic pack only.

Which we wouldn't do (you may hold me to that); but if we sold an "Anime Skins Pack", it would likely include Anime Skins.

I'm sure there are more grounded designs, as we see from some of the selection.

This is intended really as a companion piece to the special projects theme in GtD, so we've tried to include a fairly even array of feasible/grounded, anachronistic, and failed prototypes.

+1 for ship models. Such wasted potential

I'll make sure to make Marmot Herrington made its way to the Indies.

Otherwise, hope the 2D and 3D artists can go back to create more models for GoE.

Well since you need someone to do a research post for you, and one thing I’ve seen pointed out is Iraq joining the war too early, here is the Wikipedia page for the Anglo-Iraqi war that started in 1941 not 1940

I don’t want to be provocative but the naval system of the game is not about simplicity or “fun”. The problem is bad design altogether with lack of strategic thinking and applicable opportunities in naval battles. I can tolerate and accept the excuse of being a game only if the choice of the developers is serving something good. Naval system is not bad because the developers chose it. Really, nothing funny about CL spam and telegraphed strategies (or habits rather) which don't change according to the situation. Take your biggest task force, collide it with the enemy, see the results . Neither funny nor historical, just a bad design.

We tried to provide a broad selection of different models, both realistic and more fanciful. It's amazing just what actually made it into the war, just look at Hobart's Funnies.
But, if you research Hobart's Funnies, they actually were useful in niche situations. Flail tanks, Bobbin tanks to allow easier travel over sand and other terrain, etc.

Most of the other models were/are impractical at best, dangerous to the crew at worst.
