Hello everyone!

We are currently working to track down the underlying causes of the performance issues, and we can use some help gathering more instances of particularly poor performance.

It would be helpful to get a variety of saves from (unmodded) games that were started after 4.0.3 was released, where performance is really bad. We'd like to use them for both script profiling purposes and to try to identify common elements between them.

Thank you!

I don't have any yet but I'll throw one here if my current game devolves drastically

No saves from me, but this is what I wrote on Reddit yesterday.
Maybe it helps:

----------------
The game performance after the new update is... let's say... suboptimal. Many of you have already noticed that. So I ran a test myself using the console command "Fast_Forward" up to the year 2300 (1000-star galaxy, 20 AI empires, 3 Fallen Empires, 2 Marauder Empires, all DLCs, no mods). The lag is noticeably worse than it used to be around that time.

However, I also noticed that my gaming laptop heats up significantly less than before. With version 3.14, a part of the laptop would start to warm up noticeably by midgame at the latest. Now, that part stays almost completely cool.

This leads me to conclude that the performance issues in the new version may stem from the game barely utilizing the available hardware resources.

My specs: Intel i9 13900H, NVIDIA GeForce 4070, 32 GB DDR5 @ 5666 MHz, 2 TB Samsung HDD (edit: SSD), Win11

Hello, here is my save, 400 stars in the galaxy (maximum empires, marauders, countries) and by the year 2424 it is already quite unpleasant to play. To be more precise, I turned on the AI somewhere in the year 2324, then went to sleep and the year 2424 was in the morning.

Hey, I don't know what qualifies as "really bad" but I guess this one doesn't run as expected? I don't know if it's a me issue. :)

I wouldn't say this was really bad, but I get noticeable slow down as each month ticks over and the game intermittently goes through periods of stuttering.

This is my, in 2299 it already goes at speeds which I usually experience in very late mid-game. The slowdown started around 2250 or so.

I don't know if multiplayer games are eligible but we have constant desyncs 60 years into the game.

Same for my MP game, it was running completely fine until 45 years. After that the desyncs came in faster until after a couple of in game years it became unplayable (just a month or so after we resynced it would desync again). I posted a bug report for it.

Where do you feel the performance should be vs 3.14 in this build? Is poor performance meaning late game feeling the same as 3.14 or just feeling worse than 3.14? Also did the multi-threading enabled by the new pop system get implemented or is it still yet to be added?

Getting near the late game. Its slowed down quite a bit, but not the worst. Feel like I've seen 3.14 games at this year that are worse. Galaxy is Huge.

Here's one from 2342 in a game I gave up on due to the tech output bug for Wilderness. It didn't seem to lag too bad for me but I have a 7800x3d.

I wouldn't say the game has slowed down, but constant freezes at the beginning of the month are very noticeable. And after a couple of years the game crashes to the desktop, don't be alarmed, I've already made a report

Does this include the 20-30 second freeze when completing ground combat? If so, I have a save on my home PC I could provide. However, I have no other performance issues in that game (early mid-game).

Thanks everyone!

Sure, we'll take it.

It's the same multiplayer game but this time we get a desync every month even if we restart and rehost the game. Thought it might help you guys to figure out the issue better if youve got the same save in different years
