I would be very happy, when I had the ability to install thre the maps designed for EU2. Will be there no more max province limit, it could make me happy. And the last MyMAP could only profite from the increased tag limit. So there would be Germany, Italy, Urbino and Germiyan.

As long as my name's on it somewhere. :D

I want to be famous, Michael!

You are back mandead! Whats up with these temporary trips of yours? :p

No change for the map structure and still 2020 provinces max but it means all existing maps will be fully compatible without any reworking. Not the same for scenarios and setup files because of the new database structure.

Is this Christmas or what?
Probably :)

Wait a second, did you just write you kept the annoying maximum province cap, one of THE most annoying limits when map-modding, just in order to keep backwards compatibility with existing user-maps?
Please excuse me while I bump my head on the table...

I agree with Rezaf. That is the second most limiting feature of EU2 (behind having only 340 nation tags)

Change the prov limit, even if the maps shouldn't being compatible.
And what about techs? It makes it horrible playing EU2 past 1819 with 60/60/11/11 (don't forget to make something about ther investment button), should we make the techs more moddable? Could we adopt tech solutions from HoI1/2 in there? The inflation past the end year rises there like a nuke explosion in Hiroshima.

I'm pretty sure that such timeframe issues will be addressed or at least be made able to be addressed. It's listed in the sticky.

Thit is probably a big slap in the face of all eu2 modders:eek:

At least they remembered the old game........I look forward to this release.......and thank the modders of EU2 for keeping such a project alive....You guys deserve our praise...(casual gamer)

This would mean that the province number limit was too hard to break.

Of course, it's sad that the 2020 limit is still on. On the other hand, we've already got a fair number of really good map mods - isn't that enough already? Remember as well how long the making of a map takes - if someone wanted to draw a new one, it would take another few years, by which time people will probably get bored even with FTG...

Well, if this was a free fan patch, I'd be willing to put up with that easily.
However, this will probably be a full-price game the main selling point of which is extended modability...
Same goes for a new map, the official position is "we had not time for such nonsense, so vanilla map it will be" while my position as a potential buyer is more along the lines of "a finished new map would be a major selling point".

Of course I still applaud any efforts that went into this and any final assessment has to be withhold until more info is released.

Don't forget we are also modders, but this was not for backwards compatibility. Compatibility is just the "default" result.

Exactly, map structure was the hardest nut to crack and with specific developer skills... unfortunately not affordable for this version.

Nevertheless a new member of the team has required skills and things should evolve in the future.

And you're right, we have some really good existing mapmods that will be able to take immediately advantage of the new features of the game even if this province limit still exists.

Not only extended modability and not exactly full-price.

Of course, but a brand new map also requires adaptation. This will be the case for AGCEEP and it will be public but just impossible to do without the help of the community and regular contributors. Nevertheless, new map will be available for all and for free. MattyG is waiting for adaptation of Interregnum too.

Of course I still applaud any efforts that went into this and any final assessment has to be withhold until more info is released.
So,can you reveal some of the new features?
Wait for dev diaries and corresponding details.
