This version is a major improvement over the previous ones.I did not have any major problems other than a few:

1.Game seems to crash every once in awhile, not sure why.

2.China does'nt have a leader after the "Death of Yuan" event.

3.If Italy does'nt side with the Central Powers, than France steamrollers Germany most of the time(When Germany is AI controlled).

Things that I liked:

1.The unit counters look great

2.AI for the most part seems to behave good

3.The techs are better done/organized

4.More events

5.Less buggy

6.In my opinion at least,it seems like its actually WWI,not a modified WWII
game.

Two very big thumbs up to the team :D

Just completed a game as Germany and really enjoyed it. I steam rolled France and took Paris but had to transfer troops over to the Russian Front due to poor planning. Units might move a little to fast, but that's just my unqualified opinion. Also in the two games I've played the UK does not show up on the continent. The only other problem is not being able to enjoy the great Naval battles, but of course that's not your fault. Looking forward to continued updates! :)

I havent experienced any CTD's yet been playing almost nonstop since the release of 1.03b
and in my games germany does not get steam rolled.

Very very nice improvement from earlier versions.

Well infantry has the same base speed in TGW as it does in normal HOI - the question as to whether it should be changed in TGW so as to make infantry a little slower rests on whether one thinks that infantry in 1936 moved considerably quicker than they did in 1914.

The only thing I can immediately think of that would possibly make infantry march quicker in 1936 is a certain amount of motorised transport (but this might be covered by motorised infantry itself), as well as an improvement in roads and railways (yet this would probably be handled by a province's infrastructure rating)

If people really think that all ground units should be slowed down a notch for gameplay reasons, then I'd be happy to endorse the change. :)

Quick Question for a non-computer person:

Do I need to reinstall HOI and then install 1.03b? Or can I just install over my current version? Thanks :)

Don't under any circumstances install it over your current version.

I'll quote point one of the instructions:

1. Make a clean HoI v1.05 install to your hard disk drive. Path does not matter.

Either install HOI in a different place, or copy the current HOI folder and unzip 1.03b over that :)

I followed these directions from Steele.

Well their Johan's and mine, but Steele does the important part of hosting them :)

Hum...This version is very good.
There is no "mobilization event" for the Alliance, but it's not an Hindrance as germany and AH seems to be more numerous at the very beginning of the war.

But: I think "defeat" event are too difficult to happen.
As German, I occupied all France during two years, no Event defeat.
With Russia, I occupied a very large part of Austria-Hungary during a very long time, and no defeat event...
On the other hand, such events seems to occur very quickly when it's AI...

Other problem: I'm curently playing Russia, I've all techs required in order to build fighters, bombers etc, and I can't!

Italia seems to enter the war 1 game on 2...
There should be some event in order to help Soviet: although the war is clearly win against Russian fédération, he has already to conquer the Ice deserts in North Russia.

PS: Sorry for my english
PS2: keep going that marvellous job
PS3: Allenby: I didn't found any pictures at the moment...

After holding off on the earlier versions of the mod, I decided to download TGW and give it a try. I am playing a game as Austria-Hungary (normal/normal) and so far it has been pretty fun.

I held a defensive border against Russia while invading Serbia. Germany did pretty well in the east and they knocked Russia out of the war without any offensive assistance from me. The western front was touch and go for a while and I was about to dispatch ten divisions to Germany's western front when Russia's defeat event triggered. This allowed both of us to double our efforts in the west and I ended up sending 22 divisions to the western front. We are now making some progress in the west and have seized about 4 provinces.

My navy was slapped around a bit by the UK early in the war and ended up hiding in port. However, the british have lost half their battleships in conflict with the Germans so I might try my hand again.

Good work guys. :)

In order to stir up some competitive rivalry with the mod, and encourage people to play it, I'd like to pose a challenge:

Beat that!
(playing on hard/aggressive)
:D

What's the date, please? It's hard to beat that if you don't tell people by when they should do it. :)

I think the defeat events need to be looked at again. I've played two games thus far, as Germany, and have "defeated" France over and over and over again, each time occupying perhaps a third of the country and each time having France go to war with me within days. In each case, all the territory that was occupied magically returns to French control and the French then declare war on me while I still have loads of troops inside France?

I -think- I understand the intended purpose behind the defeat events, but I'm concerned over the effective implementation, which, I assume, is turning out at odds from the intent?

Unless my take on the intent of the defeat events is totally off, which isn't beyond the realm of possibility :)

I had a wonderful game this morning with this current version, playing as Germany

I left some troops in the east and headed west...conquered Belgium and northern France but got my arse kicked in Paris (Foch defetead Ludendorff, which made me jump with joy)... For the rest of 1914 and the beginning of 1915, the front remaind static...

In the east, the russian took a lot of my provinces (had to leave 4 behind) and massed a super great force...it was a hard thing keeping the statu-quo with all my available troops (the ruskies had about 60-70 divisions in my close vicinity). The serbs seemed defeated, at first, but managed to hold the austrians until january 1915...Yay!!!

I managed to pull off a great offensive in September 1914 with all my forces in the east, hoping to encircle the russians. Things didn't go as planned (the russians managed to retreat with some forces), but, after fierce battles and three close encounters near Berlin, defended only by two guard-artillery divisions (btw, my favourite weapon :) ), we reconquered two lost provinces and got another two polish ones...

So, you see, 1914 was super great and quite close to history (if you don't count my 10 colonial divisions conquering South Africa and part of Camerun...)

The problem is that Austro-Hungary performed a little too-good in the east...they took Krakow and about 9 provinces...which worries me, since there will be no land left for me...I think that Italy's 1915 declaration might change this, but for now, I wait paciently to start a spring offensive...

I don't know, Germany seems a little weaker at start, compared with the russians. I would like, for example, to see Austria perform less offensives against the russians, and more in the Balkans and Italy... Maybe the russians should kick Austrians more often in the balls...

Oh, well, I'll continue that game and see what happens next...But it was a real masterpiece until now...Congratulations! :)

Well, France and Russia are excellent...Austria is a bit too aggressive (which will cost it dearly in 1915, if the Italians join in)...The 1.05c naval problem destroys any chance of keeping my own vessels at bay (I managed to reduce the french fleet to 25 units...and the british one to 130...if the war continues, I'll be the only one with a fleet in the world)...

It´s an interesting mod in the beginning, but for alliance players too frustrating to be played again.

I started an Austrian-Hungarian game on normal/normal, followed the historical events until war broke out. Then I annexed Serbia and Montenegro, moved my army eastwards and steamrolled Russia together with the Germans. We shared a common border along the line Warszawa-Moskva and went to the Ural mountains. In Dezember 1915 Russia was reduced to post-Ural territories and a small exclave to the south.

Then came the "Russia defeated" event, and both me and the Germans had to give back ALL conquered territories. My whole eastern army (~40 divisions) dissolved because it was out of supply and about ten provinces east of the new (old) border to my homelands.

This is just idiotic. Why should the alliance accept peace in late 1915, when they OWN Russia, and just demand that Russia leaves the entende. I would have demanded all territories West of the Volga river at least.
Also due to the early date, no nations declared independent. So Russia now has peace, a good industry (I expanded all industry in occupied territories by 50%) and almost 3 years time to prepare for the Soviet revolutrion (should it still take place).

I quit the game at this point, and was quite angered. A lot of work has to be done around the war-in-the-east events. Especially concerning alternate outcomes.

Also there are some provinces next to Warszawa that are connected to provinces over a distance of at least half an inch away. Imagine my surprise when I discovered "trapped" Russians simply leaving the pocket as if it didn´t exist.

The next thing is that Germany never shares tech with me, while the Ottomans are eager to send me everything they get (and vice-versa).

On the plus side, the manpower for the Danube monarchy is excellent. I had big troubles reinforcing my eastern armies and couldn´t build more than 10 infantry divisions within two years.
