Chapter 17
Greetings, traveler!

We left last time with the priests in Thebes rebelling against our heroes of the line of Ptolemaios. As the Egyptian troops assembled to beat the usurpers, the Yemeni Power of Yamat, owner of much of the Arabian Peninsula, declared war together with the Jewish allies in Judea.

Thus, the forces of Egypt were divided, but far from defenseless. After much hard fighting, the Priests of Thebes in Upper Egypt were defeated, and Arabia could finally see the full might of Egypt.

In the resulting peace talks, Yamnati held Judea saw the main punishment, losing all of their holdings in Judea.

This meant that the Jewish holy city of Hierosolyma was now Egyptian property. Ptolemaios naturally offered his protective hand over the city, denying his troops to steal anything from their Temple.

Judea also saw punishment, losing all their lands except a small stripe of land in the Sinai as well as one tiny, separated provinces in Samaria, making them totally dependent on Egypt, but not a vassal.

With that settled, it was time to mop up Corduene and Commagene.

Hopefully that's them dealt with.

The pharaohs have been trying to destroy the priesthood as a political powerbase for several thousand years. They are never going to succeed when they themselves rely on being literal gods that get prayed to.

Thanks for this new chapter.

Ptolemaios may be a great conqueror but he is also wise. This was a good decision to show restraint.

Chapter 18
Esteemed traveler!

While Corduene and Commagene was being incorporated into Egypt, the glorious Ptolemaios V decided to build a great work to stand the test of time, a wonder of engineering worthy of Egypt! He ordered the Pharos Lighthouse to be constructed, and so it was.

As this building was being done, he invaded the puny Iris Superioris, and her allies.

1733673638784.png

But even with money being more tight than before due to the Pharos lighthouse costing a fortune, Ptolemaios V did not skimp and ordered the lighthouse to be biggr and better than even before imagined!

1733673631390.png

Ptolemaios V’s glory was even proclaimed by the Oracle of Delphi herself, something everyone thought well of.

Trouble happened as it often does during the construction of the Pharos lighthouse, and Ptolemaios V wisely ordered replacement brought in from other territories in the realm.

The war up north finally was over during this time, and Egypt’s glory now reigned almost up to the coast of the Black Sea!

1733673610251.png

This was celebrated by declaring war on Gordyene, which brought Egypt to war with the sorry remains of the once glorious ally of hers; Armenia.

1733673604331.png

A decision of the utmost importance was taken at this time, moving the valuable idol of Kassala to Alexandria.

And finally, the Pharos lighthouse was finished built. A marvel for the ages!

Building the lighthouse will have benefits, but is Egypt prepared for potential conflicts?
She is prepared to wage war on almost anyone at this time, I think, as long as it's not against several great powers.

That's a grand lighthouse!

Egypt is on the path of greatness. I wonder if decadence will start to creep in.

Well, this Ptolemy has had a truly wondrous reign, in every sense. Some most excellent accomplishments for he of the two lands, he of sedge and bee.

What is a decadence? Ptolemaios does not know this word.
Nothing like building some great wonders of the world. Congratulations on your success.
Thanks! It will not be the last.

He truly has! May it continue in the future. :)

Chapter 19
Esteemed traveler!

The greatness of Ptolemaios V was indeed big, and he proved it again in 91 BC when he decided to further intregrate the small and insignificant powers of Mysia and Aigai into the great Egypt.

With this feat accomplished and with the Pharos lighthouse fresh in mind, Ptolemaios V decided to build a temple to the Muses!

1734113641634.png

He kept expanding the greatness of this wonderful wonder, increasing the amount of amazing texts.

1734113633712.png

Meanwhile he also continued to improve the livelihood of his provinces, including Cappadocia Pontica.

1734113623317.png

He, of course, chose the best of the best to lead the Museion, choosing Tzaponiba’l Atqit.

1734113617451.png

And finally, in 85 BC, the Museion was finished, glory to Ptolemaios V!

1734113610234.png

The provinces was indeed prosperous at this time, this made it only proper to increase the taxes of Pergamon.

But in the west, the mighty Roman Republic was descending into civil war, a tempting prospect…
