Still no luck with Gamefront, no matter what browser, OS or hardware I use. Fürstbischof, could you consider a re-upload on another platform? Pretty please.

Alternative download links added. Check the third post on the first page. ;)

The entries re national ideas for SPA in the revolt.txt file are the same for vanilla and the E3 map, so I can only guess that during the install something different went wrong. Btw, you haven't accidentally copied the AOD/E3 files to HOI2...?

AOD 1.08 released

Today the new patch has been released. According to Lennartos there have been changes to almost all files. Well, I'll be able to confirm that sooner or later. ;) I can't give you a date when the adaptation is done but it might take a few weeks.

Are you still working on the E3 map?

The adaptation of the E3 map files to the new patch is still going on. To my surprise, changes to almost all files have been made. Very time-consuming are the ai files, which saw a huge number of minor changes. Atm I'm halfway through the ai files while scenario and event files are already finished. While proceeding I've fixed a number of inconsistencies, revised IC and resources and re-distributed VPs where it seemed necessary. I've found some (ai) files which are in need of some more polishing but atm I'm planning to delay some of the less important tasks to a later update. When the adaptation is finished, the download will include the latest version of my armynames/navynames/airnames XXL mod and also - if I'll find the time to compile the changes - a revised unitnames file which focuses GER, DDR, DFR and AUS.

The sad news are that I've been unable to continue my work for the last 2 weeks; I might have more spare time to continue this project at the end of next week. Finishing the adaptation of the E3 map files to the new patch might take another 2-3 weeks so it is definitely November when the download will be available.

Thanks for your hard work!

You're welcome!

As a little teaser what the future look of the E3 map might be, visit this thread over in the DH section of this forum. After a long pause mumia has resurfaced and continues his work. It seems that he's planning to double the number of provinces. If this will improve the playability of his map remains to be seen, but it'll definitely be more accurate and better looking. He gives no ETA when this map will be finished, but you'd keep in mind that you won't have a fully playable map: you'll start from scratch.

I have to say that looks interesting, but I have a bad feeling without extreme AI cheating, it's not exactly going to work that well. Other than maybe some places where few extra provinces wouldn't hurt (chiefly Africa, South-America, and maybe few European areas), I like the “current” E3 map more. :)

There are indeed some areas of the world map which should be spiced up. But tbh by doing more than this, i.e. by adding 2-3K new land provinces, might be asking too much of the ai. Making the map fully functional and also adapting all map-related files to this new wealth of provinces will cost a huge amount of time. I wouldn't bet that I'm the one who fixes all these files single-handedly.

AOD v1.08 files for the E3 map will be released soon

All fixes of the latest patch have been integrated. The release of the AOD/E3 map mod is planned for next Sunday. It might happen earlier but I'm planning at least one hands-off game. Collected late game data might be useful for a further re-evualation of the ai files. A follow-up download which contains fixes for discovered bugs - and some other files - will be released later (in January?)

Bad news: I've to postphone the upload of the AOD/E3 map files because in one of the adapted files is a bug which causes the game to freeze. I'd narrow down the freeze to the period shortly after the japanese dow on the USA. This dow lead to the merger of several parallel wars: Japan had the bad idea to declare war on the Soviet Union during the Nomonhan event while it already was badly mauled by Über-China. Since there was no Barbarossa in my latest test game - although the Italians've cleared the Mideast and were rampaging in Sudan - the war GER vs SOV was finally started by the japanese dow on the USA. Since after this series of dows almost all combatants have to change their ai files, it might take some time to identify the origin of the freeze.

Great news. Have you also modded the resources? Only being curious because I know it would take a lot of time.

The upload includes the reworked province.csv and resources which has been sent to me by Jounk35 last year. Resources were not my main priority, but I've made minor changes to some 50+ provinces.

I've e.g. fully reworked all naval areas and regions and also reorganised the worldnames.csv to identify all areas/regions which haven't been used yet or were simply never activated. While doing this the names of almost all naval provinces have been corrected according to their position on the globe. This work was the base for the long overdue rework of the naval mission ai and its list of areas which should be ignored. If you ever have compared these lists in several ai files you'll know that P'dox never did a satisfying job with that part of the ai. By finally having a complete list it's now quite easy to define the area of operations for any ai.

What's the present state of this? is it playable?

On Sunday I've finally found the cause of the freeze, which was a character hidden between two spaces. This character was then copy-pasted to several others files. It's now fixed and the latest hands-off game ran smoothly during early and mid-war. I've also integrated my Axis giveleader events for the SCW and parts of the transfer (read:renaming) events after Anschluß. Re playability I'd add that the phenomenon of Über-China is persistent although I've made a bunch of last minute changes to make life for the Japanese easier. But nonetheless Japan is way too weak after vanilla 1.08. The devs should imho re-examine the chinese theater.

All AOD v1.08 files for the E3 map in one complete package:

The adaptation of the files of the latest AOD patch is now finally downloadable. You can find the download links on the first page of this thread. (Gamefront and RapidShare are available)

The download also includes my expanded hotkeys for AOD, the revised and expanded armynames/navynames/airnames XXL and my new revised set of unitnames for AUS, DDR, DFR and GER.

Have fun!

I get unknown_string errors in options menu and in scenario. It loaded without any error reports. I made a fresh installation, applied 1.08 patch, extracted E3 map-AODv1.08 over E3 map v0.5a in my JSGME mod folder.
