Help

Hi I have aod and im trying to install the mod but having some problems.

Im using the download from rapidshire

what I do is take the e3 files and drag them into their respective aod folders and move and replace when prompted.

Then I go to start up the game starting a 1936 scenario as italy and theirs the long loading time which is normal then right before it fully loads a box comes up saying scenario files had errors.

I just click ignore and it starts the game but after about 10 days the game crashes.

Does anyone know what I could do to fix this.

I went here but the file is broken when i try to download

http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showpost.php?p=11393471&postcount=6233

when i click to download it says 404 error

So any way to fix this?

Also completely off topic but does anyone know if I can make aod go fullscreen?

I have a 26" moniter but aod isnt fullscreen when i start it up.

But when I go to the download link on filefront

It says 404 not found

Is there another download link for those aod files somewhere?

Yes, I have the same problem if I try to download my own files. I don't have a clue why the link no longer works but it seems more like a server problem of filefront. During the last days while I was updating revolt.txt and cross-checking the event files I did some minor changes to some scenario files. The updated scenario files are now available for download.

If you go to the main directory of AOD you'll find the AODgame.exe and the Arsenal.exe. If you start the Arsenal.exe you can set the resolution which you want to use. You can also enable/disable the windowed mode.

Question: where can I find the list of offmap provinces in the latest E3 version?

Just half an hour ago I discovered that province 908 is buried below some egyptian provinces. If mumia is short on province ids he might be pleased to have one more. ;)

Thank you, I'll try this one. I'm porting the CORE-E3 to the new version of the E3 map and to AOD at the same time, and it turned out that the offmap province where League of Nations used to be is now owned by Czechoslovakia, so I was looking for a new offmap province to place it in.

Thanks for the help.

This map looks awesome.

I have updated my earlier message. ;)

I hope to finish the event files tomorrow or Saturday, then I'll post them together.

Hey Fürstbischof, would you mind helping me with a few problems that I'm having? I'm a noob modder so I suspect there's an easy solution, that's why I'm asking.
I wrote this in another thread, but I suppose it's relevant to this one as well.

Hello, I'm trying to port this mod over to AOD and to E3 map v0.5.

So far it's been easier than I expected, there are still some problems though.
The scenario loads but not before it gives me a warning about unspecified scenario errors. I am assuming this has to do with some province out there not having an owner, and I already found a couple of those far in the pacific, fixed them, but it still gives me that warning and goddamnit I cannot find the cause. Is there some tool out there to automatically check provinces and make sure that they are assigned control and ownership and no conflicts exist? What other possible reasons could there be for this warning other than some provinces not having owners?

Also there's this curious thing: when the scenario loads, it seems to spawn some empty air corps for most countries for no particular reason I can think of. I've checked the scenario files to make sure that these corps are not in them, and they sure as hell aren't, nonetheless they exist for the first few hours until the player gets a bunch of "air unit completely annihilated" messages and they all go away. Any idea what the cause of these ghost air units might be?

Playing CORE with the E3 map would be cool. But tbh making it playable is a huge task. I hope for you that you have some helpful mates.

Feel free to use the 1936 scenario files which I have adapted to the E3 map. Then you can concentrate on changing the OOBs. Good luck with your project! :)

Then you can concentrate on changing the OOBs.
As far as Europe and Africa is concerned, I presume that all of the OOB modding is already done by pplmm, who converted CORE2 for HOI2-Arma to work with E3 v0.3. As far as other parts of the world go, I'm thinking that since the E3 modders were nice enough to retain most of the original map province IDs roughly where they used to be on the original map, there's shouldn't be much of a reason to modify the OOB. I've loaded the scenario and it seems almost fine. There are some obvious errors, like I've noticed Dominican troops in Guantanamo bay, but even that's not vital because as soon as the game starts they are forced to redeploy back home to Dominican Republic. Once these small errors are fixed, I don't think there should be any more reason to mess with the OOBs.

Arsenal of Democracy (AOD) is a polished version of HOI2 with many new features. Some of these make playing easier by reducing the micro-management while others kill some beloved/hated gamey exploits. AOD features not only national ideas for many nations but also ships can now have several (up to 5) attachments; the actual number depends on the size of the ship. The old HOI2 scenario files don't represent this naturally, therefore it seemed to me like a good idea to adapt the 1936 scenario of AOD to mumia's E3 map. Since AOD was published with the old vanilla map it's of importance for me to present mumia's great map to a wider audience.

I have now completed the adaption of the event files to the E3 map. Ok, I haven't bothered with BP. All other major surrender events should work and give the correct borders, I hope. ;) Especially the surrender events would benefit of a completely revamped province.csv. That is a challenge which I don't accept, but I hope that mumia will publish a new one with the next update of his map. Revolt.txt, which I have done only partially, and the ai files are also waiting to be finished.

During adaption I made some minor changes to the location of installations and units and also corrected very few provinve issues. Since the E3 map is a work in progress, also this files will be tweaked if needed. Corrections and proposals are always welcome. Have fun!

EDIT: links removed

Drop the files directly in the scenarios and the db/events directory or use JSGME to overwrite the original files.

For playing (vanilla) AOD with the E3 map you can download an expanded set of game files. See here

There might be large differences between 0.3 and 0.5. But for a quick start you can simply copy his adapted OOB into the AOD files.

To my surprise they have changed several major provinces and reused their ids, even vp provinces. This has the nasty effect that e.g. several major naval bases are no longer on the map if you don't change their ids accordingly. I wouldn't bet that units stationed in these places can return on the map if you do without cross-checking. This'll take some time I can tell you. Luckily you don't have to check the location of installations. This part of the adaption is already done.

I've loaded the scenario and it seems almost fine. The real question remains how far has he got cross-checking and adapting the CORE events to the E3 map?

Sadly, the use of the newly brigaded navy of AOD is not so easy to achieve. It seems to be better to wait for the CORE devs to adapt their mod to AOD.

Hi there

Might I ask you a huge favour? Could you post all of your improvements so far with the map files - a E3 mod for AOD pack?

I hope this is not too much trouble, but I understand if it is not possible for you to do.

Many thanks in advance,
Amartus

That's true, it might be a problem I haven't thought of. On the first glance everything looks fine but yeah there are probably some provinces missing installations and others having installations they shouldn't have.
Another issue is that CORE uses a slightly different resource system where some provinces have negative resources (to simulate consumption). Switching the map to E3 cancels this neat feature unless someone goes through the trouble of adapting the CORE resource distribution to the E3 map, which would be a ton of work I suspect.

The real question remains how far has he got cross-checking and adapting the CORE events to the E3 map?
For the most part everything seems ok. Of course, I haven't played through every possible event sequence, but the default ones work.

I'm currently playtesting the CORE2 scenario on the E3 map and only a few events slightly malfunctioned. For example, the Munich agreement transferred all Sudeten provinces to Germany but one, so I've quickly fixed that.

Do you have any ideas about the cause of the warning upon loading the scenario that it contains errors, or how to track it down? It's the biggest problem I see right now.

The map has been done by mumia. It's his work and it's simply great. :) If you want to know where he has modified the map simply download and install his map.

I have made no changes to the map files, but I have looked more closely into the scenario files which are included with the E3 map. Since AOD introduced national ideas and brigaded ships these old HOI2 scenario files can't be used any longer. Therefore I copied the lines which detailed the national, owned and controlled provinces into the AOD scenario files. That was the easy part because then I had to cross-check to locations of all installations, planes and ships. I have done this with pen&paper which does take some time.

While doing this I realized that this was only the first step, because all events use the "old" province ids. So I continued and started to cross-check the event files - every line in every file. But since I'm not superhuman I expect that I may have missed some of the needed corrections. ;) Playtesting is needed.

To make the E3 map fully playable we need also to check the ai files and to update the revolt.txt file. Both are on my to-do-list. The redistribution of IC and resources has also to be done. I don't know when we'll see the next update from mumia but I hope he has already started working on these. :)
