Many thanks, Crackler, for your quick answer, but I was looking for a different answer. Sorry for the unprecise question.

Maybe I should rephrase my question: If I release/liberate in HOI2-DDA Russia, of which provinces/areas will it consist? Which are intentionally left to set free other countries, e.g. Belarus etc.

but sadly they never show up and can't be used as an alternative to Nationalist China. But if I add Berlin which is ofc totally unreasonable as a minimum requirement for a chinese revolter, Nationalist China is gone and both show up. How can I achieve this without excluding Nationalist China as an important revolter from the game?
I'm not sure what is going on there actually. For example, if Germany annexes Belgium, it can chose to release Belgium, Wallnoia, or Flanders - all three are available as revolters. I have no idea what is going on with China that prevents this.

Does anyone remember which parts of the Soviet Union are not part of Russia? The three siberian revolters combine nicely and use all provinces eastwards of the Urals, but is the revolter Russia similarly constructed and is reduced by Belarus, Ukraine and maybe some caucasian minors? Or does it take the complete western half?
You can check out how it is in vanilla by yourself, but I don't think it matters, it's up to you. Perhaps add the RSFSR provinces as minimum requirements, and other republics of USSR as extras?

I fear that it has to do with the CHI tag which these revolters share with each other. Walloon and Flanders don't have the BEL tag so that doesn't pose a problem for them. But I'll test some ideas this weekend.

Yes, I have Arma reinstalled and use my modified event 3815, so that I can check how all the revolters look in Arma. For Russia I have decided that it should match the post-cold war Russia in its todays borders. The player can then decide if he wants a big puppet or a bunch of smaller ones while he keeps the larger part of european Russia for himself.

If you want to play AOD with the E3 map you'll have to download these files:

The E3 map v0.5 made by mumia :

E3Map v0.5 (6th April 2010.)
- compressed: 29,3 MB
- unpacked: 73,2 MB

Rapidshare: (6th April 2010.)

Megaupload: (6th April 2010.)

Speedyshare: (6th April 2010.)

Sendspace: (6th April 2010.)
http://www.sendspace.pl/file/1b736e3cda1965290e33a3b

Still to do:
- terrain
- areas and regions
- IC and resources
- territorial claims
- some names on the map (font needs to be fixed)

The adapted 1936 scenario files:
The adapted event files:
The adapted revolters (plus minor fixes):

Add all files in this order. Drop the unpacked files directly into the db, db/events, map and the scenarios directory or use JSGME. For the installation of the files I recommend using JSGME which makes it quite easy to add all modified files. All downloads are JSGME-ready. ;)

Loading the game for the first time after the installation of the E3 map will take longer than usual. Don't be frustrated if it takes 5-10 minutes. The game needs this time to create a new navaldist.tbl. Afterwards any loading of the game is as quickly as before.

For playing (vanilla) AOD with the E3 map you can download an expanded set of game files. See here

The revolters are finally done. :) It took way longer than planned. I hope I have ironed out all typos, but there might be some left. Any comments or suggestions are welcome.

Liberating as Japan those two special chinese puppets (U74 Northern China & U87 China-Nanjing) isn't possible unless you add a province of e.g. Switzerland to its minimum conditions. An alternative would be to amend the chinese surrender events so that these two puppets would be directly acitivated. Mostly players will agree that liberating National China as the only puppet of Japan in China is a quite gamey choice. We could replace this option with the option to release the other two special chinese puppets. Then Japan could decide if it rules alone, uses the warlords as its puppets or installs the other two as puppets. Any opinions? :)

China-Nanjing needs another name...

hey, I did all of that, and it didn't work. the game gets stuck while loading. it gets stuck "initializing provinces". I am at a loss. I know absolutely nothing about modding or anything so I am kinda helpless at the moment. so any help would be appreciated.

Can I help at all? I can edit the inc files, editing the IC, infra, AA guns and so on. I can also edit what provinces the AI targets for either naval invasions or land invasions in the ai files.

I am loving the new map! But I find it weird that many of the islands are rectangles but I guess that's so you can see the whole name. How can I find the province numbers for the e3 map?

China-Nanjing needs another name...

At first it's astonishing because you don't know what's happening but everything is ok. The game simply needs 5-10 minutes to create a new navaldist.tbl. It takes only the first time this longer time to load. Each new start afterwards is as quickly as before. ;)

The additional revolters were introduced by Arma. This name originates from there. And yes, I find this name not very suitable, too. I hope that we can find the names of the revolters in one of csv files in the config directory so that we can change them. ;)

It's ugly. Really ugly.

Northern China or something like that would be better.

But sadly, that is the name of the other japanese puppet. ;) IIRC has AOD several new, read empty, revolters introduced which we might use if we want to change the chinese surrender events in a plausible way.

Sorry, I mean Southern China! :eek:o

Yes, we need definitely help. And you seem to have the skills which are needed right now. ;) Besides the ai files, which I'm atm hesitating to do because of the already announced 1.05 ai update, we'll mainly have to deal with provinve.csv. Terrain, climate, areas/regions, infra, IC and resources are all handled by this file. Jounk35 has started fixing the areas/regions and also the climate of the changed provinces. (see his last post here) The most recent province.csv until he uploads a new one is already included in my E3map-fix1.

Re adapting the ai files: let me first check how they're organised. Since there're several hundred of them we can easily split the task of adapting them.

I am loving the new map! But I find it weird that many of the islands are rectangles but I guess that's so you can see the whole name.

Readibility and clickability. Many islands are so small that you can't put a corps, an air wing plus AA and other buildings onto it and differentiate between them. Therefore these show up partially on the rectangles.

How can I find the province numbers for the e3 map?

You already know the showid cheat? To make changing province.csv easier I have tried to arrange the revolters as clearly as possible, too. You might also use this file offered by Amalric.

What do you mean?

Any help is appreciated. ;)

Sorry, I mean Southern China! :eek:o

No offence taken! ;) If we could add two more revolters to China we could split China in six parts: Manchukuo, Mengkukuo and e.g. Western, Southern, Eastern and Northern China. We only have to take care that each of them has a decent industrial base.

Sorry if I mis-read, how can I help? Are you aiming for a historical mod as I can edit the AI so it performs amphibious assaults on the places that were historically attacked e.g. Normandy, Pacific Islands, Philippines, Dutch East Indies. I can also edit which provinces the AI considers essential to control e.g. Stalingrad, Moscow, Iwo Jima, Okinawa. Or are you aiming for a mod in which the AI is flexible e.g. Nat Spain joining the Axis, Allies invading Axis-controlled Balkan states (IRL Churchill wanted too, but Roosevelt disagreed)

Baltic states?!? Never heard that. Are you sure you didn't mean Balkan states...?

Yea I did sorry, but in my defence the Baltic states do exist (Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia)
