I have tried 1.06c and the editor still doesn't work. I've tried uninstalling completely, deleting everything etc. I've tried a clean install, and a 1.06 install. I still get that sequence of errors.

Any Ideas?

Thanks :)

oh... and the title bar on the top says 1.05, but the 1.05 patch editor I had been using was a different date/size.

Thanks again

hehehe
And I can load one of the non-saved games files, but if I save in the game it won't re-read that file.

Thanks three times

You've tried completely emptying the "Hearts of Iron" Folder of any and all files manually as well?

I installed 1.06c on top of 1.06 and after the stupid blunder of holding Y down for half an hour cuz I can't follow directions it worked.

Is at any point the installa sking if you want to copy over a read-only file? If it does click yes or hit Y.

I did a complete uninstall (and manually deleted everything in the HoI folder, then deleted the Strategy First folder), then a fresh 1.00 install, then ran the 1.06c patch. I did have to hit "Y" (and check the box) to get the 1.06c to install over automatically.

Should I have deleted something in the 1.00 folders?

Try installing fresh from the CD then 1.06, then 1.06C.

 You've just doomed him to 20+ min of holding down the Y key. But it should work.

I'm satisic like that. ;)

You using any mods?

Do you have 16BIT color set?
Do you have normal size fonts selected?

Ok just tried the 1.06 to 1.06c, and hit yes for about a half hour. And it still doesn't work correctly.

Any other ideas?
The editor included with 1.06c definitely works although it doesn't seem to load modded scenarios that use mod-dir (like CORE). Make sure the patch has been installed correctly. Sounds like you may still have a pre-1.06c editor.

You mean the game won't read it or the editor won't read it? The editor is not really designed to edit savegames (even though the file it saves is really a savegame file). Real saved games apparently have some ai prefs that the editor doesn't recognize.

Yes on the 16bit
Yes on the fonts.

I cannot load a saved game made with 1.06c into the editor. I have been able to do this in previous version of the game.

Editor.exe 3,500KB 7/27/2004
Editor.csv 9KB 12/9/2002

Are these the right files for the editor?

Thanks

Well the Editor isn't set up to do Saved Games. Only the Scenarios Ie "Road to War.eug" ect in the main folder.

7/27/2004 would be the right date so that sounds like you have the right files. And Yeah the .Csv file is correct. Have you tried opening the Scenario's with the editor?

Since the editor hasn't worked since 1.0 what exactly do you mean? You can load Saved games from before 1.06c into it but not 1.06c saved games? Again try loading a scenario instead. take a pic of your screen with the error...

Hit "Print screen"
Open up pain hit paste
click save as and change it to a .jpeg
Go to http://imageshack.us/index.php
click on browse find your jpep click ok
then click host it.

Copy the line that says

Make a post here and paste it. Maybe with the collective minds here somebody can think of something. :D

While you may have been able to do it before that is not really what it's for so it may or may not get fixed. What do you want to edit in the save?

I like to branch off games, as in, well what if the Marines stuck on Wake in 41/42 had had decent air cover, more men, and adequate supplies. How long could they have held out.

Or giving the Brits enough strength in Dunkirk to keep them from having to pull back etc.

I can edit the txt directly, but it's a pain.

I would have to say the editor is Working as Designed.
