So CO, what's the deal? You send out an email regarding the Beach Asset pack, detailing what's going to happen and the disaster it has been. Yet you remove the thread and now the link within the email is invalid?

Is jerking your customers around in private now a thing? Like, facing the public on the forums obviously hasn't worked to build back any faith in y'all... so you think an email blast trying to convince us that the Beach Asset pack is getting rolled into the base game, and it's price getting refunded, will appease us?

For anyone curious, check the email you use to sign into your Paradox account. Worst case, I've saved screenshots of the email.

I think it's time for CO/Paradox and somehow, the rest of the community, to sit and have a "Come to Jesus" moment, because this is getting ridiculous.

Maybe PDX/CO wanted to announce this on Monday?
Doing it on a Friday or Saturday does not make much sense regarding being responsive. Most official supporters do not want to clean up the mess during the weekend.

Oh, wouldn't be surprised if that was the *intention*, but at least they're being consistent with their screw-ups.

It is just speculation.
Putting the DLC into the base game also means CO/PDX has to offer something else to the people with the Ultimate Edition.
People will have questions about this...
Sure, very few people have bought the DLC, so refunding it is probably not expensive, but it has other consequences.

Sure, CO/PDX could say we delivered what we promised, and that is it, but that would be a marketing disaster again and make it even worse.
We will see.

So wait a minute, you claim that Paradox is going to refund the Beach Properties DLC and make it free for all consumers. Then why is it still up for sale on Steam and so forth? Seems a bit counterintuitive to keep selling the DLC they are refunding and making it free... did you make this whole thing up?

Haven't received any such email but then again I got the DLC as part of the Ultimate Edition. It would be nice if anyone else could confirm they received that email to clarify if this is someone making things up, someone falling for a troll email or if it is legitimately happening.

I am making no claims. I am simply responding to the email I received and was subsequently jerked around by.

I'll just say what I did in the last thread. I just want an apology, a promise to do better, and an outline of what they're going to do to make it happen. I want to believe in this game but this utter and absolute denial that anything is wrong whatsoever is insulting.

And that should have been happening on a Saturday?
Looks like someone got a hoax email.

Looks like it came from the offical forum account "Cities: Skylines Official", but could be hoax still, or somebody hit publish instead of draft, which is more likely as somebody would have to create an account with the same name and have privilages to post in that forum section (that you can follow) and that seems even less likely than an employee hitting the wrong button.

Edit: and if somehow it is a hoax email, then it also means paradox have had a data breach, so.... ???

Looking at it from the bright side --incredibly positive that PDX/CO is taking this step.

beware of the trick

Since they obviously sold very few single copy of the dlc and the extreme major part of review are from ultimate edition, this will cost them mostly 0 euros to refund trying to gain sympathy in the process. Actually they will refund nothing with this.

Mainwhile the game is out for 6 months, they still didn't deliver anything for the ultimate version of the game (since they will probably refund this), the game is still broken will full of bugs and the bug section is still deserted like the main forum

Let’s be fair, if they do refund fans for that DLC, it’s a welcome step from CO/Paradox. It was a poor DLC and it’s great that they received the feedback and compensating fans of it. I hope that the “additional content” they promised will come soon not like the assests pack, and with substantially more mechanics and assests to justify it being $10. Its a good step from CO if they deliver

I wonder does it extend to Ultimate Edition owners and knock off $10 for everyone?

Absolutely. CO can start fresh and get a new chance to produce a very solid DLC that the series deserves.
If CO is really smart, they even add a bench, a trash can, and an umbrella to the base game.
These items are already available via dev mode, so it is not a big deal, but it allows much nicer and more detailed cities.

If the DLC gets part of the base game, it would be a huge step in the right direction. There is hope that CS2 and its base game will improve and one day gets a better reputation -> more future DLC sales.

Putting the 4 new trees behind one of the worst DLCs in history was a bad idea, but this step can fix it.

IF it's true, it is a step in the right direction. I don't believe this game will ever be good, but at least they can salvage a little bit of their reputation. We will see.

Assuming this is legit, it's what people wanted, isn't it? A clear statement that the DLC didn't live up to expectation and doing something to address it.

Certainly makes sense to be skeptical until its confirmed/denied, but its kind of silly for people to react by being mad about it. Most likely it was supposed to go up at the same time as the pack stops being for sale and it takes time to coordinate that across storefronts.
