I don't care if it's true or a scam, and I don't care it's the weekend; something like this comes out and you can't spare 5 minutes to write a disclaimer on this thread? This is ridiculous.
It's Sunday afternoon in Tampere right now. Come back in 24 hours and see if they've commented or not. Be reasonable.

It looks more like a draft version to me, something which is still awaiting details and clarification, maybe to fix some wording issues. It also has a timeline of the next patch, which is something we all want to see, but isn't being shared...
I think it's real, but I was a mug who bought Ultimate so what do I know?

You normally also get the notification email from forum_admin@paradoxplaza? The more you read into details, the more it stinks.
Forum Emails do get sent by forum_admin@paradoxplaza, that much can also be easily tested just by enabling email notifications for anything in this forum

Which I just got, need to turn off email notifications, I see they're being sent for everything by default >.>
Oh well I see only two options. A hack, or an unfinished post that wasn't supposed to be released to the public just yet - it's just FAQ without actual context. I'm skeptical but would also like to be pleasantly surprised (not that I particularly care about refund, the game was gifted to me lol)

The OP is from Saturday, 15.07 (3.07 p.m.).

Allegedly CO does have some community managers or whatever that position is officially called. None of them is looking at the official forums?
None of them is feeding the teamlead on Monday morning what the newest developments are?
Well, ok, it would fit in the overall picture.

Seems we have just the next item on the list of potential improvements.

1. It's the weekend and there's probably no one there with the authority to do anything.
2. Can't exactly deny it today only to turn around and confirm it on Monday.

We'll know tomorrow is my guess,
Exactly unless it is a security incident with a hacked Paradox forum admin account. If that is the case, it might take a bit longer, but I assume CO/PDX would have shut down the forum already, or we would have seen other things.
A hacker with admin rights would not just create a fake FAQ website and send matching emails.

It is definitely interesting. Is it likely that Paradox will agree to do something like this?
I am not sure; I would tend to say no unless the investors think the series can be a financial success in the future. Paradox is not known to try to save a series if it does not make economic sense. CS is the strongest brand in Paradox's portfolio, and that is why it may get a last chance to recover.
Does CO want to bring the game back into its proper position? Absolutely, because if not, everyone will lose their jobs. If CS2 loses 20% of its players monthly, it will not take long before all future DLCs are doomed. The active player base to buy these future DLCs is just too low.

The current situation makes sense for CO because it would reset many problems, and for the first time, real action would be visible to save the brand. Such a move would rebuild a lot of trust, or at least there would be a bit of hope that CO understands what players actually want.

So we will see.

Do we know for certain that posting in the "Official Information & Announcements" subforum requires privileges? I've never tried it but when I view that subforum there's a "Post Thread" button next to the "Follow" button. It may be as simple as someone with a throwaway account discovering that the door was left open, so to speak. It would be enough to generate the notification emails, without requiring a full-on hack. I'm speculating, but Occam's Razor seems to point in that direction.

even if it's the WE, if it's a phising mail by someone impersonate paradox, it's the duty to CO/paradox to make a communication preventing people to open the mail...

I guess its not locked down and that's something for paradox to look into.
So, seems like it was a throw away account, but notices went out as a result of subscribing to that forum section.

Edit: and to the mods, I posted that thread for science, sorry, but at least you know its unlocked.

Shame that it looks fake. It would've been a pretty good PR move from CO at this stage. It would certainly have won back some trust and respect from me.

Oh well, back to... total dev silence on this early access game, I guess. A much better PR strategy... /s

I agree, it would have been a good gesture for CO to make this asset pack free as an apology of how the game launch went. I feel the game is getting better, and mods help a lot to improve the overall experience of gameplay..... but the launch was pretty much botched. But as much as I would like to believe this is real, this is a poor attempt by someone who is toxic and bitter to get attention.

I have 100% faith in Paradox fixing the game, and they will. Making the Beach Properties Pack free for everyone - especially since the 4 trees in a DLC prevents map makers from releasing tropical maps, as it would require the DLC - is a really good gesture..... but this.... this is fake.

As for dev silence, I am indeed disappointed in that as well. I play a few games that have forums, and on each of them, even if a launch if completely botched (looking at you, Corsairs of Umbar on Lord Of The Rings Online) the devs are still interacting almost daily on the forums on what their plans are. They have weekly community streams where they themselves play the game and answer questions for an hour (well, the community manager, with sometimes a dev guest) and recently there have been live stream interviews, some lasting over 2 hours, where they really answer questions from the players. LOTRO had a completely botched expansion release in November last year (very similar time frame as CS2) because another game studio had poached several devs and they had to cut back while still wanting to meet the deadline. But they have done a LOT since then. One of the main things they did...... is continue a completely open line of communication with the players, no matter how toxic the players became.

And THAT is what is missing with Paradox.

lol did anyone believe this?

The most reasonable thing to announce and also the most practical is to promise adding 20 new assets (10 na/10 eu), 6 more signature buildings, and de-coupling trees from the asset pack altogether. Issuing refunds would be dumb from a business standpoint.

I am not sure... because it is related to the number of sales. The DLC got a horrible rating; only fanboys, rich people, just for fun, or not-so-smart people would buy a product that is rated at ~10%.
The average fan already owns the Ultimate addition, so the sales are not great.

It is more of an image thing.

Nature abhors a vacuum. And so when all of the official communications from CO like the dev diaries, patch notes, and WoTWs utterly ignore, sidestep, or outright deny the many valid gameplay issues, bugs, and half-baked DLC in favor of cheerleading and pretending nothing is wrong, that will lead people to speculate and their minds will run wild. If this specific communication is revealed to be a hoax, it is precisely because of that vacuum this happened in the first place.

The issues this game has had and the complete silence from the devs, from the CEO, from anyone in leadership whatsoever about the valid complaints people have leads us to moments exactly like this. It continues to be a massive and complete PR fail, and if this were anything more consequential than a video game people would be fired for it.

I have been a keyboard warrior since the 90s on Usenet, and I know my shouting into the void doesn't mean anything. But I am still profoundly disappointed in the communication or lack thereof about the state of this game.

But then they would have to make UE purchasers whole in some other way, right?
That would entail additional costs as well.
