But then they would have to make UE purchasers whole in some other way, right?
That would entail additional costs as well.

They are refund ding the DLC. Why would they need to make anything else whole? You get your money back, plus get the DLC free.

If the DLC was free for everybody then the Ultimate Edition buyers who paid the whole package and can't be refunded would need some compensation.

They said the ultimate edition would get refunded the DLC. Everyone gets it refunded. plus everyone gets the DLC free, No compensation will be needed.

We should find out more later today.

Which I just got, need to turn off email notifications, I see they're being sent for everything by default >.>
Oh well I see only two options. A hack, or an unfinished post that wasn't supposed to be released to the public just yet - it's just FAQ without actual context. I'm skeptical but would also like to be pleasantly surprised (not that I particularly care about refund, the game was gifted to me lol)

Exactly unless it is a security incident with a hacked Paradox forum admin account. If that is the case, it might take a bit longer, but I assume CO/PDX would have shut down the forum already, or we would have seen other things.
It could be a case of email spoofing rather than a Paradox account being hacked.

I am however surprised there has been no official reply to this thread. One would think it was in the best interest of Paradox/CO to clarify the matter asap. Especially if it is a fake email.

In the fake FAQ, they say they'll "provide additional content within the Ultimate Edition to repay the loyalty we've seen in the community since the release of Cities Skylines II. The UE is still sold and people can choose not to be refunded so the now no-beach houses pack need to be replaced by something else.

Anyway, this is a pure 100% hoax so there's no point discussing it. What is incredible is PDX silence since saturday.

Wow, you really want this hoax to be true, eh?
I suppose everyone does. It would be one hell of a way to save face.

Weekend, and now, if they noticed, they're probably preparing a statement in one way or the other. I say preparing because "it was fake and we're tracking down who did it" won't satisfy anyone and they'll be flooded with questions and more complaining anyway, as people would've wanted anything to repair the recent PR disaster. But they're silent on social media for quite some time so their silence in this matter isn't "incredible", it's almost expected.

I do not know much about how others see it, but I hope that it is not a hoax.

Sadly, the chance that it is a hoax is relatively high.

Offering it has a few drawbacks for CO/PDX but not so many. Sure, they have to offer additional content for "free." On the good side, people may not give up on this brand.

Currently, the trend is this:
CS2 has a 56% rating on Steam, and the last word (the DLC/content pack) has a rating of 10%.
-> This is a very strong negative trend with little hope.

The Ports DLC talks about 100 buildings, we already know that if PDX sells it for 10 bucks, ratings of around 10% are expected.
-> The active player base will quickly get smaller; future DLCs, even if they are great, will not achieve many sales due to the low number of active players.

If CO can fix the first DLC and bring in hope, fanboys may give CO and this series another last chance. In that case, it is financially worth it.

Is it likely? No, because Paradox history with other games suggests a different outcome, but it is not impossible. It would be the right thing to do if PDX and CO really want to save the series.
Continuing the old strategy is unlikely to bring the game back.

Sometimes 56, sometimes 53% for the total evaluations, the recent evaluations are much more negative. Also the DLC has a 4% rating that stayed since it was released, making it the most disliked content from Steam.

No, they are talking about 100 elements, this is the kind of nitpicking we have to be careful about. They could add 4 benches, 5 lamps, 1 trash bin and you already have 10% of your content. Being labeled as an expansion and following CK3 pricing, this could go from 12,99€ to 19,99€. And in the defense of CK3 these are gameplay expansions.

If CO can fix the first DLC and bring in hope, fanboys may give CO and this series another last chance.
Can we focus on the main game first? The parks are still empty, there are no bicycles, the industries produces smokes like it's the industrial era again, the metro system can still be stuck (a bug from the beginning) + no above ground metro station + no multiple levels station like in the first game, the buildings are not correctly balanced (and have to rely on mods to fix it), the paradox mods platform is more unstable than the community alternative, you need to rely on the dev tool to create a beach, the grass texture is still there during winter, the buildings are not designed for high density cities (I have to remind everyone that the game's cover is a high density city, not your local village), the airport runways are too small, the international airport does not have metro station integrated, the underground parking entrance is too big and its capacity too small, the universities are too large and would have been better with an hybrid system, the building extensions should have not been snapped (I'd prefer a similar approach like the university DLC from the first game)

4652 bug reports have been made, ~400 have been confirmed, and there's still a lot to fix. So no, before fixing the first DLC, I strongly suggest to fix the core game first.

Well, at least this is a moment where we can blame both, CO and Paradox for lack of communication.
And in both cases at least a short statement should have been given, even more so under the current circumstances.

But maybe this will finally open the eyes of those who still believe that CO/Paradox are their "friends".

I agree with you that in that situation, if it's a mistake (send something they didn't because it's not ready or it's something they are testing) or it's a hoax, they should send a statement about what's happening. It's something that can harm a company, it's not something to leave without saying a word.

And another week without WoW. Great move to cut communications...

Yes, that would be the second step.
We all know that the CPU performance of CS2 is not great and it runs only well on powerful machines. Few people have it, and therefore, it would be a smart idea to add a lot of decorations to the game.
In this way, even if your city has 100K citizens, you can have a lot of fun.

Currently, CS2 is not fun if you hit the limit so early. However, the CEO said that adding more props is not a priority. In my opinion, this is a wrong decision, but there may be other unknown problems if CO adds a bunch of decorations.

We will see. Even if it is not a hoax, I am sure a lot of people have to talk to each other to make this possible.

TBH, I am a bit surprised nothing is out.

Even to say it is fake and the website hasn't been compromised.

If there were a breach, we would (eventually) know, as it is a legal requirement in the EU. My guess is that if that were the case, we would have already heard something.

I think something else is going on. No idea what.
The fact that nobody's replying to this is so weird I have to guess they made the decision not to engage in any discussion.
Surely this thread has been a lot more fun than playing the game, so even though the email is a fake I don't mind.

It is strange that there is still no response from PDX/CO, but I noticed that if you go on Facebook and go to Cities Skylines page you can see they've posted a story in which they are looking for playtesters, so at least they are still working on the game, but it's a shame that they've cut out all comms.

That would be an issue for whatever at Pdx is responsible for this Forum, but spoofing an Identity and Posting to a Forum that should have been restricted but wasn't is... really not what "compromised" means.

I'm still mostly baffled that it seems like someone Made the effort to fake all of this.

Edit: Seems like I still have the visible option to create Threads within the "Official Announcement" forum.. not gonna comment on that because we're not supposed to comment on moderation, but definitely interesting

Was there ever a thread? If yes, everyone who is subscribed to that forum should have gotten that email. From the reactions here, I would say, looks like definitely almost none did. So there cannot have been a thread or nobody was subscribed (on Friday) to that forum.
