Personally I'm now fully convinced that the "poor communication" from past months as well as this new "total absence of communication" were both motivated by a fear to tell us the truth: they won't fix the game.

A couple bugfixes and optimizations here and there, sure why not. But the real gameplay and performance fixes that we all expect? They can't. Maybe because they don't know how to achieve it, like many people suggested. Or maybe just because it would be too long/expensive. Meaning either they created some monstrous codebase that ended to be too complex for them, or they don't have the means to live up to their initial ambitions. More probably it's a mix of both.

  1. At first they tried to hide that truth under the carpet by building as much hype as they could. But we noticed an infinite list of bugs and inconsistencies in the game.
  2. Then they tried to gaslight us players by pretending that was our own expectations that were too high and that we were toxic. We disagreed with that.
  3. Then they tried the "we're here, we listen, please talk to us on the forums" way for a bit. Until they refused to publish a roadmap and ran out of things to say in their WOTWs.
  4. Then they bet on the PDX Mods + DLC release to bring back some enthusiasm. And that failed brilliantly.
  5. Finally, the silence.

I think they're out of options. Now it's either tell the truth (aka, "the game is already dead because fixing it is too complicated/long/expensive") and face the consequences or just bury their heads in the sand. I think the silence we are witnessing since 3 weeks now speaks for itself.

Anyway... to come back to the point of this thread: it was obviously just a hoax from some bad joker. Nothing very interesting. But the fact that nobody from CO or Paradox came out with an official clarification on this is the ultimate proof that they have given up on us.
They have nothing more to say to us. And the most logical explication to this silence is probably what I just explained above. This game is dead. It will never be what I naively paid for, I will never get my 90€ back, and nobody will never apologize to me for this. Typical dystopic capitalism.

Sadly everyone can still post threads in official forum... They should fix this to avoid hoax.

Yes, anyone can currently post in Official Information and Announcements.

Please don't do that.

Cheers.

Why is that? Is there nobody with administrative rights?
Ever since they switched to this XenForo garbage that someone external implemented every little change seems to take weeks, if it happens at all. I don't know if they outsourced even the most basic admin rights to their own forums, but at this point, who'd be surprised ... ^^

Saturday: 'It was posted on Saturday, they don't work on weekends. Let's wait till Monday & it will be sorted.'

Monday: 'The week has just started, they have lot on their plate, give them few days at least.'

1 week later: 'They will get to it, they are working on the game, you have to realize that'

1 year later: 'We have 5 paid DLCs now with great content, why should they reply anyway?'

No, the first time something about this appeared was on Friday in Discord:
( I cannot put the link to that post here, it was in the official Discord, cs2-general on Friday at 16:12 (UTC+2)

But I suppose the reaction was disappointing to the poster (almost none)

Then reach out to someone who can change that? It's paradox forum, can't tell me there isn't anyone from either pdx or CO with the power to change posting permissions.
Unless they all went completely offline.

Great writeup!

Pretty sure they just ignore the PC community for the most part because we want indeed a totally different game than their design goals (which they literally said that those goals have been fully met last year). So they are now just working full steam ahead on console in hopes to secure those people and get them on board for DLC sales and positive vibes.

They probably thought the last update + DLC release + mod release was a 'comeback moment' they clearly worked towards but has failed and backfired so spectacularly when it comes to reviews, player numbers and community engagement, that it probably was the first true wake up call for the CEO, developers and PDX management that is isn't some minor hiccup that will quickly be forgotten.

We are almost 7 months in and things have been going down instead of up on a monthly basis. I also see that for most people (even the most die hard fans) the general sentiment turned from 'it will all become great in a few months' to 'this will probably never be what we hoped it would be'

The PC community anger has nothing to do with design goals. Releasing a bug-ridden unoptimized game without mod support was never a design goal for CO. They did it because CO and/or PDX wanted/needed cash. The only part of the design which could be discussed is the game's total lack of challenge and even that has been proven to be caused by a lot of bugs and a lot of features still not coded (like the land value, only recently added in the march patch).

Mariina writing their goals had been met last year is just marketing blabla , just like "we know we've not met your expectations". This is not about OUR too high expectations or their vision of the game vs ours, it's about a half-finished botched job, a terrible product.

What I find a bit interesting is that no one from CO has said it was fake. If something like this happened to any other company, they would immediately release a statement saying that this was not them, it is fake, and to not click on links, bla bla bla......

But there is complete silence on this issue.

This makes me think that there may be something going on. First off, the screenshots we have seen appear to be coming from the OFFICIAL account used by Paradox. The players that got the email are the players that selected to follow the official account on these forums, so they never miss an official post. That is why it HAD to be the official account that it was posted with, as it triggered automated emails immediately as soon as a post was made. This leads me to the following options:

1) The account was hacked. If this was the case, this needs to IMMEDIATELY disclosed to the public, because that means that all of our accounts are at risk. If someone can hack into the official account, they can hack into any account. Obviously they would need to take security precautions and put them into place, but these things need to be disclosed pretty much immediately.

2) Someone was fired or quit on Friday, and this now disgruntled employee realized he still had access to certain accounts during the weekend, and left a goodbye present so to speak. As this is technically a crime (if their employment ended on Friday, they would be trespassing as soon as they left the building) it would explain why they keep quiet as there is likely some investigation going on.

If it is fake, it's basic customer service 101 to clarify that that's the case asap, especially if the scammer used the paradox forums to do what they did. There are real security concerns here, with people not being able to distinguish real from fake paradox communication.

Again I'm flabbergasted why no one at PDX has seen 6 pages of this thread on the front page and gone "hey, we should probably give a basic update on whether this was real or fake and whether you shouldn't trust our emails/announcements because of a vulnerability"? The lack of explanation or engagement feels unprofessional.

It feels like that, but it may make sense if it is not a hoax but a work in progress.
Maybe CO wanted to post something about this on Monday, but it was not finalized.
Today, the same happened, maybe a missing signature, and prevented a post at the last minute.

If you are an official and it is not a hoax, you cannot announce it before the paperwork is done.

If it is a hoax or a bad 1. st April joke or a security incident... I mean why on earth is the post still open? To see what we write and enjoy an active forum :D. Maybe... .

The current behavior does not make much sense. Okay, we have the option that CO absolutely does not want to engage with their clients anymore to avoid "negative or toxic" feelings. That is also possible but not likely because I assume they want to sell DLCs in the future.

A different option would be for CO to be dead in terms of bankruptcy and not care about what is happening anymore. In this case, CO does not have to interact with us because the game is dead and will no longer receive future updates or DLCs. Or maybe Paradox sold the game to a different studio —not very likely.

What else? We need more conspiracy theories :D.
