FRG borders include the entire DDR, match what they are in reality today, so no issue there. When does NATO come along? I could've avoided a Red Austria, next time I'll know better.

A "Free Poland" should be available in the likelyhood that part of Poland is Allied occupied. There was a Polish exile government in London. Now I'm left with occupation or gifting to another country (FRG?). The stacks of Soviet divisions along the border are getting higher and higher. UK has moved a lot of divisions to the Pacific.

Got my first upgrades - artillery in the Panama Canal Zone! (Groan)

FDR dies a bit early. Minor changes in cabinet.

Japanese home islands are taken, but they fight on from China. Impressive casualty ratio.

USSR dow's Japan. Does this occur a set amount of time (+/-) from VE-Day, as a reaction to what is happening with Japan, something else? US and UK will attempt to keep Russian gains to a minimum and Stalin won't be happy about that. Oh well, he should've moved sooner.

After the German surface fleet showed up in these waters I should've expected a pack of U-Boats. Note that Singapore is again a UK province.

VJ-Day - - - but no one asked the US if we accepted this.

Yeah, yeah, the UK is the leader of the Allies - so Japan gets all that territory back? I think not. Luckily I freed the Philippines beforehand or that would've gone back as well. Man, this is just plain wrong. Maybe the 1936 territories, certainly not Dutch East Indies and western New Guinea. US keeps Korea and Okinawa, but not the Central Pacific Islands? This makes me want to nuke Tokyo. Japanese retain several U-Boats, one of the German relics, 3 CV, 2 CVL, 1 BB, 10 CA, 6 CL and some DD. Most of their air force is vaporized for being in Nationalist China, a whole bunch of divisions are teleported to Tokyo while others are vaporized. I could've saved a lot of effort taking Java and other parts of Indonesia, put that toward China.

Chinese get about settling their own affairs.

North Korea? What's a North Korea? Allied forces occupy the place - there should be no such thing unless the Soviets occupy the joint.

Someones been watching too much Star Trek, the Allied divisions in North Korea just got beamed up. This is a wee bit unrealistic. Bounced to the nearest friendly province maybe, but being sent to the timeout chair and then to Washington is uncool.

Now that it's over we get prepared for the war? What were we doing before now, having our guns and butter?

QUESTION - HOW DO YOU BUILD NUCLEAR WEAPONS? I've seemingly done everything necessary - research and reactor size. So Where is the button to start building "the bomb"? Is it under production - if so where, provinces, air, ground, naval, brigades? I don't see it. Do I need to wait for an "event" to notify me they are available? I realize I'm new, but isn't this something the manual should cover?

EDIT: Checking my reactor closely (the reactor symbol says 6) shows it at 5.59 of 6.00, so maybe it isn't big enough yet.

Bombs are produced automatically once you have lvl 6 reactors and lvl 6 nuke tech (which you do have). Also make sure that you built nuclear reactors, not power plants. In any case, the nukes are counted at the top of the screen, at the nuke sign. Hover over the sign to see when the next nuke is available.

Also, if you want to avert WW3, unally with the koreans. That's usually the main trigger you cant control.

Research now allows us to produce some Jets.

QUESTION: What's the best way to go about this - build or convert existing units? Some of each?

Here's my current production screen, still finishing off stuff that started in the queue, only added reactors and the rocket test sites we inhereted from Germany.

Yet anther question/issue.
Nationalist China has now taken two provinces from the US in mainland China. We aren't at war, so what's up with this? Should I remove all my units from mainland China so they don't end up taking the slow telleport to Washington? Is there anything I can do? I suppose "military access" is what I need, but how on earth is that done (needs to be explained in the MANUAL)?

Hovering over the nuke sign shows our next nuke will be ready "January 1, 0."

When does the Korean War usually get started, 1950ish? Should I want to avoid WW3? What should be done to be ready for WW3? This is all new ground for me.

What will happen to Korea if we break our alliance? (Still a puppet.)

Speaking of puppets, should I release Japan and if so what happens then?

What events are yet to unfold - NATO? Anything I should do to prompt NATO?

Still have no idea what to do with occupied Poland. Give it to the Germans? Continue to occupy?

South American countries are leaving the alliance. That's okay so far, but what about Australia, France, etc?

How can I get passage thru the Turkish Straits to the Black Sea? Military access - if so how do i go about getting that?

Got my first nuke - no announcement, but it showed up - current game date 19 June 45. Another reactor level comes in August and I'll have the next level bomb available before then, allowing further increase in reactor size to 8.

Can you build reactors in parallel in the same province? EDIT: No, they must be built in series.

Next nuke avaliable 23 April 1947, assume that move to the left when more reactors come online. EDIT: Raising the reactor level to 7 and getting another nuke level cut that by a few days, but it's still April 1947.

Is it advisable to build another set of reactors? Expensive for sure. EDIT: Game won't allow me to start another reactor in a different province.

How about giving Korea some divisions before breaking the alliance? Will that cause WW3, or tip the scales in the Korean War?

After cutting the alliance and watching the Korean War start is it then okay to intervene, or will that result in WW3 as well?

Just tried to leave the alliance with Korea - I must have done it wrong. The US left the entire alliance with the UK, kept Korea asa puppet. The USSR and North Korea immediately DoWd Korea and the US DoWd in return - WW3!

So, what is the proper procedure to get out of the alliance with Korea without starting WW3 or leaving the grand alliance with UK?

Wish I could say I was smart enough to save (30 Sep 45) before I did this.

That's normal - only the leader of the alliance can expel a member. Now that you're alone with your puppets, you can release them as fully independent states that will be allied to you - and then you can expel them from the alliance.

But the purpose of expeling them was to avoid WW3 - yet WW3 happened as soon as US left the UK led alliance, before I could expel Korea from the US-Korean alliance.

I suppose I could cut the puppet strings as the US, save the game, then sign on as UK and unfriend, er, expel them from the alliance.

US should become the western alliance leader at the end of WW2 or when they get their first nuke - whichever comes first.

The Allies until 41 is basically just the British Empire & Friends + France - and the game doesn't really hack alliances well. That said though, you can edit the alliance leader in each scenario, so you can always 'fix' your post 44 start, so that USA is alliance leader instead of ENG
