Mitch turned to me and was like, "Well, I guess there are some shots of the Atlas II in the video."
Me: "Does it matter?"
Mitch: "Nah. It'll give the internet something to speculate about."

And it took less than half an hour for someone to notice and post!
I caught it first time through the video, finished it, rewound and went "Well that's interesting". Considering someone mentioned the appearance of it in some promotional content and it got discussed heavily on the old forum, it did stick out to me.

Also, the listing of "Medium Pulse MD Lasers" told me it wasn't likely a finished, polished product, the look of it seemed to be Skirmish Mode in one build of the Backer Beta, so I just assume (and will assume) that was testing out Lostech weapons we *might* locate so they could be sure they worked as intended.

will the game keys for backers be sent by HBS Kickstarter or by Paradox?

If you backed via kickstarter, you will get the keys in Backerkit. If you pre-buy the steam version on steam, I am not sure. I suspect it just becomes active the day the game goes live and no keys are needed.

This is essentially correct.

If you're a backer (on Kickstarter or late backer on Backerkit) we receive the game key for the distribution platform we chose (GoG, Steam, Humble) in our Backerkit account...a little before the game goes live in April.

Pre-orders through Paradox or Steam or GoG or Humble...etc etc may see the game in their Steam (and maybe GoG/Humble?) library but it won't download until the game goes live in April.

We are a little bit hungry for information about the game.
Adarael has 6 posts so far... just click on the number of posts under his Avatar. Some of those posts provide just the tantalizing insights (without dispelling the BATTLETECH magic!) you might be hungry for. : )

Yet nobody sees fit to actually resolve any of that speculation. You guys are having way too much fun with this. ;)

Thank you kind sir for the directions.

If you make a Linux port I will buy it.
They are working on linux compatibility. It is estimated for about three months after release. About the same time some of the additional localization options should be finished too.

so I'm super late to the party, (several teammates backed this a couple of years ago, but we were hip deep competing in MWO, so I couldn't bring myself to split my attention / funds... now I'ze sad about that); and I've very excited over the release date and got my preorder lined up and so forth, have watched a ton of stuff on youtube and just have the tiny squidgiest of questions.... this isn't a gripe or anything like that... just wondering...

Have LRM's always produced such pronounced feedback in the mech firing them? Like Grand Mal tremors? I don't seem to recall the vibrating judder in any of the earlier vids...
...wonder if that's something we can dial back in the JSONs

so I'm confused, do you play as the girl on the cover art

(sorry if this is a dumb question, I haven't been following this game)
No she is the leader of a deposed faction who contracts you in the story missions.
Whether or not you assist her in timely fashion will determine if her faction is defeated by its opposition, or if it reclaims its rightful place.

Of course you can ignore that and just take random contracts from various employers too.

Especially if you're a known Taurian sympathizer like some here. You know who you are, gentlemen.

thanks, I would have been so annoyed if they gave you a player character, it just wouldn't fit at all with all the other games.

It has been mentioned that there are going to be three of these videos released . We have seen the first one and two more should be coming.

I for one can't wait to see what they have in them.

Who could you be referring to :p
And I'll have you know, despite the order on my name, I'm a mercenary first and Taurian second. I go where the money is :D

And it has been said in a Q&A, that if you don't do the Story Missions at all not only the Restoration will fail, but the Aurigan Directorate will start to Pop up as an employer for those randomly generated Contracts. So after a while you can work for the other side. Kinda.
