Error occured while saving a game, resulting in the game saving endlessly and forcing me to Alt-F4 since the exit button is greyed out. (It managed to save the game correctly few times before the error occured). After restarting the game, "load game" on the affected file does not do anything when clicked.

Steps to reproduce​

Triggering a save either through autosave or the pause menu; It seems to happen at random.

Expected Result​

Saving a game correctly and loading a save game at all.

Actual Result​

Error when saving. Pressing "load game" of the affected save game after restarting CSII does not do anything.

I had this saving issue after the recent Patch und some Patches before shortly after the Updates. I had that Problem many times before and in the last days, too. I unsubscribed anarchy, because it wasnt the first time this Mod caused exactly that behaviour on my system.. After making a new game and playing several hours the error didn't came Back. Maybe there are Files in Steam Cloud and corruppted save Files which were altered by anarchy, that cause the problem.

If you'd have read my previous posts, you would've realized that I only activated Steam Cloud recently and AFTER thoroughly deleting previous files and doing a clean install, starting a completely new game with ALL mods disabled.

I truly wonder what you're trying to achieve with your replies here... you don't seem to currently have the issue. You have no proof that it has anything to do with Anarchy and you don't have any logs/screenshots/posts to prove that you had EXACTLY this issue (I mean word-for-word the exact same log-file that me and the others here have posted). In fact, this issue has come up some many times recently but I've yet to see anyone mentioning it happening before - let alone making the conclusion it has anything to do with anarchy.

So, if you don't have the exact same issue as well right now and you're not contributing anything to solving the issue, I'd kindly ask you to look for other posts in this forum you might comment on. Because, frankly, all you're doing here is sabotaging anyone that's currently having the issue and who's looking for a solution. Thanks.

As I sad, I had the same saving problems like you and it helped in my case to deactivate anarchy. How can I proof this to you? You are simply attacking people that wants to help you because you are frustrated that your problem ist unsolved. You should not accuse me, that my experience ist different from yours. Maybe there are two similar saving problems with the game with different solutions.. I hope your problem could be fixed soon.

Your newly introduced feature to take a screenshot of your camera position while saving the game to display it as a preview and then in the loading screen is veeery likely causing this issue. Even I can make this (educated) guess from the posts (and the posted logs) in your forums (and other platforms). It would be fundamentally awesome if you guys could finally acknowledge that, move forward and fix the issue... instead we're still discussing if this is something you'll forward to your devs.

FYI:

• saves will result in error
• sometimes its the first save after loading into the game, sometimes its the 14th; or anything in between really
• It doesn't matter if you save locally or on steam cloud (even though when I switched over to steam cloud for a bit of testing it seemed to work for a bit (aka 10-20 saves across 2-3 sessions of playing), until it didnt)
• mods don't matter (aka the problem will happen with or without mods activated or even installed)
• re-installing the game doesn't fix it; not even a fresh install on a different disk

And no, I will not post another log as there are plenty in this post and others; any log I have or that I can create upon your request will literally look EXACTLY the same:



The only thing that will change is the sub-folder in "\\Cities Skylines II\\..." (so in the above case its "0e499ad5c6de4294b77cdb6e2ac5094a") and obviously the save file itself.

If the corrupted save file issue persists even without using a mod, then it's time for the developers to address and resolve the issue. However, there's no consensus yet.

Source? Because no, it is not caused by Anarchy. As I've said, I've gone as far as deleting ALL CS2-related data from my system (yes, also appdata and temp files; including mod-files) and reinstalled CS2 on a completely different drive, yet I still get the error on a FRESH MAP and WITHOUT ANY MODS.

So please stop spreading misinformation... you're only delaying a potential fix for the issue even more.

If you still get that issue, please create a separate bug report. Make sure that your mods didn't download automatically (only possible by starting with --disableModding), because even if you delete everything, the mods will be downloaded right away when you start the game.
