It is recommended to to run all Paradox games in 16BIT, funny that the color depth would effect your screen size though.
I would think that more an issue with your sektop res not matching the game res.

Copy all the files from your CD to the Harddrive and install from there.

No, the game-screensize is intact. The top of the loading-picture disappears when the game is loading (not scenario-loading)... This isn't a problem at all, as it doesn't affect gameplay what so ever... It's just a strange bug...

Rename the AVI folder to AVI_back. See what happens.

I get the same thing even with no AVI, about one time in 5 or so while loading the game. I assume it's a driver/directx issue. Doesn't seem to cause any actual problem.

That happens only for very few people now.
It had been a major problem for lots of people but Johan fixed it for the majority and an AVI rename helped most others, but there are at least 3 members that still have this problem occur, at least occasionaly.

Hmm... resurrecting an old thread here. I never managed to install EUII. When I tried to copy the CD onto my harddisc to install from there, it refused to copy the setup file!

The link to the patch that could fix the "scandinavian problem" (see above) does not work any more.

Is Castellon still around?

Thanks Castellon, although unfortunately it did not help that much. I have downloaded the INX file and extracted it but I still can't copy the game from the CD onto my harddisc...

Whenever I try it says that the "source is protected from copying".

Any ideas?

You mentioned it was the setup file that gave you the error, can you copy the rest then use the setup file you downloaded from here, if not what other file gave you an error?
