How can i make morroco renouce its cores on provinces i just conquered from him?
In your next war, demand that they renounce cores in the make peace screen. Tab two I think.

Im kind of trapped in 80 overextension thanks to that ;P. Nothing i cant handle for 5-10 years.... but cant wait 50 years for his cores to go away.
What does his core have to do with this? That should go away if YOU have a core.

And now it doesn't.

For one thing, it allows Spain to give French troops access to Portugal without also providing a springboard to the Americas for the French fleet. It is a cool feature and I don't know how you could possibly find it "wasteful".

My point exactly. Because from what I've seen so far it doesn't do what you've just written. You mentioned denying France a springboard to the America's, fair enough. But thats only true if it extended the French Fleet's operational range from Spanish bases.......which it does not.

In what way does it not do that? Screenshot + savegame and possibly a bug report please.

But thats only true if it extended the French Fleet's operational range from Spanish bases.......which it does not.
It extends the actual range of the French ships by however much further it'll be before they sink from the Spanish base.

What exactly does Castille/Spain's Unique Idea "Allows claiming of colonies" do?

In your troops you must have a button called (claim\seize colony). It should make you able to send a troop there to conquer the colony for you (Otherwise you have to burn the enemy colony and restart everything). Not 100% sure its that, im still getting there ;P

What does his core have to do with this? That should go away if YOU have a core.

Yeah, i dont have a core yet, thats the point, im trying to remove morroco core so i can start the process without having to pay 450 adm points to create a core for 1 province.

if thats all then I'm a little dissapointed with the mechanic. I thought it would be more impactful than that. As it stands all its done is split the old EU3 Mil access into 2 parts. Fleet Basing should have more depth than simply being able to dock somewhere. It should include extension of operational/fueling range....i mean thats what happens IRL.

Although the fact that diplomatic agreements are extremely limited in the amount you can have compared to EU3 perhaps it does have some depth....its not like u could fleet base with whomever willy nilly or you'd eat up your cap.

Tried searching the thread and didn't find anything so my apologies if this has already been asked, but how do you name/rename cities? Or, are you incapable from doing so now? This was one of my favorite features for adding very simple immersion back in EU3, so I can't believe they would remove it. I have no problem with changing province names, but when I try to click on the city name to change it as well nothing happens, and colonies have to keep their province name as their city name. This kinda bugs me when colonizing North America as the Ottomans and I can't make New Ankara :(
Thanks for the help guys! :D

I posted this elsewhere, but figured I'd put it here too. If you're in a war but not the war leader, you can still find the war score (I spent a while cursing at the UI and trying to figure this out...).

You can see another nation's warscores in at least three (non-obvious) places:
  1. Click on a province owned by the nation. Mouse over the "current wars" icon (looks like a flame). The tooltip has the info.
  2. Go the the diplomacy page for that nation. The wars score for each of their wars will be listed by the "current wars" icon.
  3. Go to the "current wars" page of the ledger and find the war.

Any idea to remove the "Provincial tax income" in the convert part or at least reduce it?

Dont really want to get religious idea but with Fez and some other provinces having 4% of resistance to missionares just from taxes it get impossible to convert
them even if i get the spanish inquisition idea.

My point is pretty sure it doesn't matter if they have a core or not.

I confirmed i can´t ask them to remove their core of province X if i don´t have a core there myself. (Or its controlled by someone else and he have a core there). Also if you full annex the country nothing you can do as the national idea is going to stay there forever.

so i just paid the price. My problem now is the question up there.

Thank you. And sorry about this - each answer makes me think of a new question.
Where there are different types of cannon - say some more mobile and some better at bombardment - does this auto upgrade mean I have to have all one or all the other?

might be already too late for this, but: DON'T do this in a war, your upgraded armies will start with minimum morale

1) where is the default screenshot folder?

2) I've got a message, something about because of my marriage with Brandenburg, I've got an heir with a strong claim in their country. what does that mean? are there more than one heirs in any given time, and if "my one" inherits the throne, are we gonna form a PU, or wut?

3) if I convert to protestantism, do I lose all my royal marriages? that wouldn't be so bad, cause I didn't realize there is a limit now, so I have more than I should have, but that means I'm gonna lose the chance for the inheritance mentioned in #2, right?

bump

Thanks - I sort of spotted that at the end of one of the YouTube videos but didn't understand the context. Which of course raises another question - how long does the morale take to get back up again, roughly?

I think it's the same when you are starting a new war for example, and raising your maintenance slider from almost nothing to the max. I would say 3 monthly morale upgrades, 4 might be needed sometimes. of course if your maintenance slider isn't maxed out, it's slower.

Great - thanks for the info.

1) where is the default screenshot folder? [SNIP]
Only one I can help with, at least if you use Win 7 et al. For me it is Documents\My Documents\Paradox Interactive\Europa Universalis IV\Screenshots

The directory is only created when you take one. If you have another OS it should be in the same set of folders as your saved games.

... Ah hell I won't even bother to ask again. Might as well go play and learn for myself. What happened to quick question and answers guys? You ignore a couple of people with questions and DISCUSS about one guy's question on and on for pages...

After you click the province look for its name in the menu, just click there and you can change the name.

Any idea to remove the "Provincial tax income" in the convert part or at least reduce it?

my question, found i can´t do anything unless i find a way to reduce its base tax. But found some extra decisions that helped me avoid the idea and start the process to convert.

My first EU game, I just got a notice about Superior Unit Types now available. Is there any way to upgrade my old, inferior units, or do I just disband them and build new units?

Click the shield of your nation > Military. You should see all 3 types of units on top the menu. (1 infantary, 1 cavalary 1 artilhary), just click on the name of the unit you want to change and all units will upgrade (but will go to morale 0, so dont do it if you can´t wait 2-4 months for them to recover).

"What is the best army ratio of infantry and cavalry, and infantry, cavalry, and cannons when cannons get unlocked? "

Please don't ignore my question...

I am not a developer but it seems to be about the same as in EU3. Played now 70 years of Brandenburg and you want atleast 4k cav in every stack for flanking, I go with 5-6 k in every stack, more is not needed unless you will only fight on plains. You also want more infantry than cavalry for combined arms bonus in every stack. And later you want as much cannons as you can afford, they have very expensive upkeep tho. I tend to go with about as much cannons as cavalry and as much cannons as the size of the biggest forts for siege power. Only a few cannons in each stack in the earlier game tho because they cost so much. So there is not a fixed ratio I think, it rather depends on the situation and how much cannons/cavalry you can afford. I hope this helped you abit.
