I agree. I think Wargame has been one of the finest RTS series, and I think Steel Division is probably the finest example of the series (well ok it's not a "Wargame" game but I believe that's because Focus hold the copyright to that name or something, it's spiritually tied). I like the more aggressive style of play and I think the new mechanics they've added have largely been a boon to gameplay.Long may it live!
I think Eugen needs to decide what they want to do with Steel Division.
Either try to make a game for the Wargame fanbase (which it was intended to be) or go more into "realism". They tried both and neither aspect worked out very well, they made an even more niche game than Wargame already was.
Re: Coh2, I chatted with Imperial Dane and a bunch of people on his twitch about why they did/didn't like SD44(while also teaching him how to 1v1 VS brits using osties because he wouldn't stfu about how op brits were....) and the general response was that they hated how they no clue wtf was going on due to lack of coh2 style verbal feedback. He literally complained on stream about how his tank in SD44 would move forward, die, and there'd be no verbal feedback explaining wtf just happene which left them completely confused about how to handle the situation.
Another complaint was boring, which given all the exciting graphical stuff going on in coh2 makes sense.
This dude is one of the big coh2 streamers and a total history wanking ostheer fan boy who loves talking about German divisions. If Eugen couldn't grab him with a game literally intended to cater to new players who exist in that niche (aka him and his thousands of fans) they should probably figure out how to fix it by reaching out to the less competitive coh2 streamers (the heavy competitive ones are into the micro which is just never gonna be at the same level in SD or WG) and asking what they could change to make it more appealing to those guys.
Perfect plan? No. But it might help polish thing game into something that can grab a few of the players from a game with 4-6k daily simultaneous who are looking for their next RTS obsession now that coh2 is getting long in the tooth.
I had no clue what was going on at one point. What did I do? I watched replays of where I got owned. I learned from mistake after mistake after mistake. Over time I got better and could handle situations, instead of getting stressed out. I don't know this streamer, but it seems his mind was already made up before he played 5 games. If you want to see ooooo and aaaaaa explosions going on every 2 seconds go watch a Michael bay movie.
You can say l2p all you want, but at some point if people aren't learning 2 play, there's something wrong here at the design or ui level.
Disagree. The game is not easy to pick up nor is it made to fill a place in the casual section of your steam library. Not every game has to be redesigned because the learning curve is too steep for some people. You can say l2p all you want, but at some point if people aren't learning 2 play, there's something wrong here at the design or ui level.
