First, let's eliminate mods, as until they are updated by their authors they can cause problems after any new game patch. Please add --disableModding to the game's Steam launch options. Then start a new test city - do you still get these crashes then?

If so, please try this: Rename the "Cities Skylines II" folder in your C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\LocalLow\Colossal Order (to whatever you want) and then start the game. To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

The game will create a new clean CS2 folder and if that works it means that something in your original folder is corrupt and preventing the game from starting. Do NOT delete your original folder though as your saves are stored there and if you want to keep playing you'll need to move them over to the new fresh folder!

Let us know if that helps you. Good luck!

I did this and it did not work. I've done a clean install as well. I also do not have Player.log file- is that normal?
It will almost certainly be there.

  • The player.log
Located in \AppData\LocalLow\Colossal Order\Cities Skylines II (To see the AppData folder you’ll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer)

No files are hidden and I followed the path given. My player.log file is not there. I did a clean install and I cannot get past the launcher, so the game hasn't officially started.

Yes, crash again, I do adding --disableModding in the steam, renamed the "Cities Skylines II" with other name, but still the same error

For some reason, i can't see the log file and neither the logs folder. I did a search for the file with the explorer, and it only showed me the backup log files. weird..

It is not in either of the folders in your screenshots.

In File Explorer click on View and tick Hidden Items and File Extensions. Then click on Local Disk C: in the left column.

Then in the right pane double click on Users, your user, AppData, and so on down this file path
\AppData\LocalLow\Colossal Order\Cities Skylines II

The error is happening before the game even starts, there might not be a Player.log. It's a launch error

Let's set you up to bypass the launcher, maybe that will clarify matters.

- Download the attached cities2.bat.zip file
- extract form it cities2.bat
- Place the .bat file in your game's Steam folder (In the same place as your cities2.exe)
- Right click the game in your Steam library
- Go to properties
- Select Set Launch Options
- Copy and Paste cities2.bat %command% into the input box
- Select Ok
- Run the game

Let us know what happens then.

Ok, it run and I can start a new city, now what's next?

It seems to be working now, how can I enter as -developerModeon? Do I need to add any lines to the .bat?
I don't know, sorry. Maybe try placing it after the cities2.bat %command%
