Nice IC by our newcomer!

As always, I will also use the post to remind about the deadline (I know, I´m a pain in the ass, but that way nobody can tell they did not know), set for Friday 12:00AM. I will also send PMs tomorrow in case any factions haven´t sent their orders (only 5 atm).

This sunday I have an important exam, so I´m pretty certain updates won´t start to appear until monday.

The Great Chief of the Manitou Tribes shook his head sadly over the reports from the scouts throughout the vast wasteland of North America. Despite the sorrow, pain, and ruin that generations had grown up with to show them the ultimate folly of war, it seemed that no one had really learned that most terrible of lessons.

No, that wasn't entirely true. There were good people out there, trying to build a new and better world out of the ashes left when the madness of the ancients called down the Atomic Gods-Fire to destroy the old. But so few, and opposed by so many madmen bent on power and conquest.

Skirmishes for land and food were as old as time and as sure as sunrise, those would never end until the last man was gone from the earth. But wars-for-empire, such as had destroyed the Old World. Those were folly pure and simple. According to the scouts sent to the far west, and the Ambassador to the Shi city of San Francisco, another such war had begun in the west. Three great Nations-who-would-be-Empires now warred for mastery of half a continent, and whichever of them won would be neigh unstoppable if or(more likely) when they chose to turn east.
The people of this "New California Republic" seemed mostly of good heart, though troublingly like the ancient stories of settlers from beyond the Great Ocean, who had come to these shores long before the Great Dying and betrayed the then-tribes who had welcomed them as friends.
"The Legion" had a strong warrior ethic that some of the Manitou warriors could respect. But there ruler was a power-hungry madman devoid of compassion or mercy.
The "Steel Brotherhood" was an enigma; they had brought peace and stability to many mid-western tribes, but at the cost of semi-subjugation. Travelers, and a few refugees, said they were contemptuous of those who followed the simple ways of the earth, holding technical knowledge in the sort of esteem normally reserved for Sacred Things. Some of the Shamans believed that the Brothers may actually worship the most advanced ancient devices as if they were their Totem Spirits.

For now that threat was far away though and the Great Chief turned his attention to domestic matters, still he couldn't help but feel that someday soon the Tribes would be sucked into the storm weather they wished it or not. He hoped that when that time came they would be strong enough to withstand the gale rather than being blown away.

The Government of the New Mexican Republic is greatly worried by the war that has been declared in the North. Our glorious nation has achieved prosperity by trusting in the democratic ideals, and although we have problems on our own and fight the ravenous raiders who wish to enslave all Mexican citizens, we heartly believe that the fate of every man, of every nation, is to be free to decide how they should be governed.

This is why we deeply condemn the unwarned and evil attack to our friends of the NCR. The world can see now how Caesar has no problem in covering himself with shame and attacking a peaceful nation as the NCR without any legitimate excuse, showing that their only intentions is to make all the free people of America bow under his unworthy knee.

People of California! Do not fear! We are sure that good will prevail and that you will defend your liberties and triumph over the evil Roman hordes!

- You wished to speak with me?- said Gamorrin.

- Yes, boss. Me worried- answered a tall, ill looking mutant.

- Then speak, Marcus! I haven´t got all day for you.

- Well...what you wannado with Steel men?

- What I want to do? Do you think that I´m in a position to decide?

- Position? You chief. You not need position. Steel at war. Crush Steel.

- Out of my sight! And do not tell me again what to do!

As Marcus left the room where Gamorrin was enjoying some delicious rare-cooked human rib, he started to regret how bad things were going for the mutants. His all time enemy, the Brotherhood of Steel, was at war with some far away man called Caesar. Any other time, this would have been the perfect chance to invade the BoS and crush the Brotherhood. But, alas! The crazy Ferals decided to invade them, and no war would be advisable with such a danger at their own gates. "Damn zombies", he thought. "This should not be our war".

"People of the republic, defend the republic!"

Caesar, you have provoked a crisis where there was none. Your needless ambition for destruction can no longer be tolerated. You are fighting on two fronts and we call our friends in Mexico to aid with who they can to crush you to the south. You cannot win. Our armies are skilled and our morale is high, yours are slaves.

When the war is won, we shall only punish you for the lives you have wasted. Your people will be warmed by forgiveness and democracy, freedom and technology. They will curse your name and spit on your grave. So is the will of the waste.

We feel honored for the call in arms that the Government of the NCR has made upon their Mexican friends. The Government of Mexico does not easily forget, and we remember that the NCR came into our help when we were surrounded by the troops of El Zorro and our own democracy was in danger.

Now, the NCR faces a bigger problem, but it is not only a issue of the Californian people; if the forces of Caesar prevail in this conflict, the whole Wastelands are doomed to repeat the errors from the past. We cannot allow such a tyrant to rule over free individuals, and we won´t tolerate the reinstallation of slavery in this dear continent. Caesar has showe many times he is unworthy of a life in freedom, and it is our duty to stio his madness and put and end to the misery of so many that are subdued to his leading.

That is why Presidente Bolívar has asked the Mexican Senate to fulfill his compromise with the Californian Government. After a short debate, the Mexican Senate has unanimously voted to
comply with article 2c of the Oak Creek Accord and honor the call in arms from the NCR. Therefore, a state of war has been declared between the infamous Caesar´s Legion and the New Mexican Republic.

For freedom! We shall prevail!

Juan Bolivar, Presidente de la NMR.

TEXAS CATHEDRAL

After yet another High Father's song of "fiyah all over your place!" brought another terrific explosion, Father Maxwell decided to do something about Dave's pyromaniac tendencies. The emissary of the western tribe did not leave yet, and Manitou's knowledge of mind-bending techniques being well known, Enrico decided to make a private visit.

Having vaguely explained the problem without any names, Prefect asked the heathen shaman for an advice. What he've got were some herbs of strange smell. Enrico thanked the tribesman and went to try them out. The initiate who smoked a tiny portion of the plant didn't seem to die, but he was certainly pacified. Being satisfied with that, Father ventured to Head Father's quarters...

...few hours later, a new song from Cathedral's leader followed. He was clearly too stoned to pronounce any eligible syllables, but surprisingly enough, a couple of words was discerned by the pious congregation, such as "peace", "love", "murder" and "agony", before Dave broke into tears. This brought some confusion, but soon the meaning of this sermon became apparent: it is Cathedral's duty to protect and project peace and love over the Wastelands, and murder and agony occurring in nearby lands had saddened Dave greatly. Having that understanding, honest people of Texas were burning with desire to punish those that dim Head Father's gaze with tears, and they've demanded Atom Corps to enlist them and supply with arms. Sadly, as many other things, weapons were lacking in the Holy State, and mob's desire to wreak peace and love upon Wastelands had to wait.

OOC: Wow, I even feel bad for Caesar, what was he hoping for? Even were Khans and Texas not to jump on the happy bandwagon of death, that looks like a massacre.

LOYAL LEGIONARIES

I applaud the eagerness of our enemies to declare their self-destruction. Better to face the degenerates in the field than suffer them in your confidence. We now discern the axis of anarchy that has established itself against us. To the east, the Brotherhood of Steel, a clutch of feeble quasi-warriors dependent on their pre-war relics for power. To the south, the Mexican Republic, an obscure and distant pauper state, so bereft of leadership and popular support that it depends on Republican arms to sustain itself. And to the west, the New California Republic, source of all woe and discord, architect of this war, hoping to score a swift victory to prevents its own antiquated civilisation from sinking into the wastes.

I ask you: does the dog concern himself with the intention of fleas? If this is all that the enemies of order can array against us, then this war is already won. The Republic is forfeit; we shall not allow such a determined enemy of stability to remain in place to practice its politics. But its 'allies' have this one, final chance to save themselves. Do not interfere in our business, and we shall not interfere in yours. For the moment you violate our territory, you share the fate of the Republic.

CAESAR THE GREAT, SON OF MARS, CONQUEROR OF THE EIGHTY-SIX TRIBES, COMMANDER OF THE LEGION

Deadline for turn 4 has passed. The following nations have not sent their orders, and thus will get a -1 order penalty, which will be increased if they fail to do so before Monday´s morning: Enclave(bakerydog) and Former USA (spectre 17).

The first update will be on monday/tuesday focused on east coast or minors, as the Mojave theatre is quite hot and needs proper calculations and probably a unique update covering all nations intervening or affected by the war :).

Due to recent geopolitical changes in the Mojave recently, Mr House has to denounce the New Vegas treaty. NCR soldiers are invited to leave the Mojave, as they no longer have rightful claims to it. No harm will be done to them, and Ambassador Crooker is welcome to stay. But, considering the lack of commitment the NCR has shown to protecting the Mojave, and considering that Mr House will need to act as the true protector of it, it's only logical that NCR elements be removed of the Mojave.

On the other hand, we thank Mr House for his great campaign against the Fiends.

Long live Robert House, our adored leader!

...whispers trickle into Canada of open warfare in the Western wastes. Canadians of all kinds are glad to live in the relative peace of their homeland, yet at the same time are fearful that, like a plague, war may spread.

市帝国
Shi Empire

The war to the south is most worrying and it is unfortunate that the two sides, though far apart ideologically, couldn't come to a diplomatic solution. The Shi empire has neither the desire for war nor the capabilities to do so. It is with this reasoning that we state our neutrality in the current conflict. We hope that peace may soon return to the wastes, it is already a hostile enough place.

In domestic issues, this has been an extraordinary year for our nation. We have successfully repaired our submarine and restored the greatest symbol of our people. With our sub repaired, we can again venture across the oceans. Our navy, although the only navy, is the greatest in the whole of the wastelands.

The return to operation of our submarine has not been our only major achievement of the year however. We can now produce electricity. With our Nuclear core producing electric, we can light up all of San Franscico, providing cheap energy to all.

We look forward to the coming year with much optimism, hoping that the successes of this year can be replicated in the next.

TURN 4 UPDATE #1

ROBOT NATION

VB_DD05_npc_ZAX-29.jpg

It is unclear from where they come, but what seems an Army of Securitrons starts to patrol some deserted streets of Washington DC. Although they normally avoid any confrontation with the Mutants that occupy most buildings of the Capitol Wasteland, a small dettachment of Mutants fires his guns against the robots, but the supperior targeting abbilities of the Securitrons win the day and make the Mutans retreat.

CANADA

wp1-f9-f2.jpg

Finally, Canadian troops manage to overcome the climate problems and are able to colonize the area of New Brunswick, where they are greeted by the few wastelanders that have settled in that location. Cautious scouting clearly helped to minimize the few hostile attacks from Yao Guais and also provided Canadian Officers with the needed terrain information of the zone. (map will be updated).

Fully resolved to become an oasis of peace and order in the northern wastelands, the Canadian Government keeps its efforts into creating a new factory of canned multifruits, which will provide with jobs and cheap meals to hundreds of Canadian citizens. (1 more turn order needed).

A group of engineers is sent to scout the Wastelands to find any Power Armor equipments that remain untouched since the American invasion in the prewar period. However, they lack the necessary training and equipment to survive in the frozen Canadian landscapes, and after a few days they lie dead in the snow and are now a nutritive nourishment for local fauna.

The Canadian Government also creates the CICC (Canadian Investigation and Computing Center), devouting lots of resources to what seems an long term project to achieve technological supperiority over their neighbors. However, delegates from the Commonwealth sneak into Canadian territory and offer a better salary to the Canadian scientists, who decide to defect and abandon the project (-1 Resources next turn).

The Elite Ants Division has finished its training and it is operative now. Avoiding major conflicts has helped Canada to increase their military forces, and step by step they are managing to assemble a real impressive Army. (Canada gains +1 Ants Division).

SHI EMPIRE

1556367-847px_chinese_army__special_ops_training_manual.png

The Emperor has been definite: Shi Naval forces will be used to find new lands to colonize, and so the "Mandate of Heaven" is sent on its first mission to scout the coasts of Oregon, Washington, Vancouver Island, Vancouver city, Seattle and Hawaii. However, the on-board computer is unable to calculate such a complicated route, and finally settles for scouting the vicinities of Vancouver, where some remains of a ruined old rig are found.

In order to increase food sources avaliable, Shi scientists use the newly learned technologies to build a fishing fleet. However, and due to a confusion, the engineers build a zodiac-gunned ship without any rods or nets. Not wanting to disappoint the Emperor, sailors part to the sea and try to shoot some mudcrabs, but are rapidly surrounded and they do not return home.

Shi mathematicians want to encourage a baby boom by enacting natality policies and welcoming war refugees from the south. However, and to their despair, they found that most of their male compatriots have became sterile due to radiation exposure in their years inside the submarine.

Although part of their industrial capacity is currently being used by Manitou emissaries, Shi technicians devout themselves to repair the SF library and collect every type of book or holotape they found. However, they know few words of English and most of their scientists are helping the tribesmen, and are only able to recover an old book, "Chinese Army: Special Ops Training Manual" (Shi troops gain a +5% to organization).

OOC:Sorry for the delay, but as I anticipated it has been a pretty exhausting weekend. At least the exam went very well :). Tomorrow I´ll keep updating!

IG-88 could nothing but marvel at the number of new brothers which were recently given birth. Seeing them standing there, in neat rows, while the Gift of Reason was being installed in their systems, was making the Securitron's circuits buzzed with excitement. Or at least with what was supposed to be excitement, because with that thing called emotions one could never be sure at all. In any case, the logic behind the deployment of more robots was overwhelming: the Human actions have made the world a very dangerous and unstable place, so that any entity claiming to be civilized has the need of self-defense forces to keep a lid on the dangers of the Wasteland.

TURN 4 UPDATE #2

VAULT CITY

Arroyo.JPG

A scientific commission is created by the Vault´s overseer, in order to study the possibility of a controlled use of the nuclear energy still stored in therecently discovered power plant. Not only they realize that the reactor could be reactivated, but the ghouls seem very cooperative and offer themselves to work in the highly contaminated areas, unnaccesible to humans. (+1 Resouces, can also trade energy with other factions).

This success clearly cheers up the vault dwellers and helps to minimize the cultural impact of working with non-humans,to a point that some dwellers volunteer to create an underground tunnel that will connect the vault underground levels with the Nuclear Power Plant.

The Overseer decides to seize the oportunity, and sends a radio message inviting nearby wastelanders to join Vault City and start living in its vicinities. In exchange of food and protection, hundreds of wastelanders settle in small towns near the power plant, and start enjoying a life in peace and with hopes of actually being happy (+1 MP next turn).

A mission is also sent to find a suitable spot to install their second GECK, sent to Vault City instead of Vault 8 by mistake, but it is almost impossible to find any opportunity as the GECK needs an inmense source of power to be activated. However, the explorers discover a human settlement in the former state of Oregon...who may be living there?

MUTANTS

Once the surprise of the Ferals attack has passed, Gamorrin orders his troops to redeploy near their southern border and start taking defensive position in the surrounding hills. However, no more attacks come from their southern enemy, and even a ghoul with a red flag appears demanding parlamentary privileges. Although some Mutants feel angry about letting him pass, Gamorrin allows it and meets the ghoul in his own quarters.

ENCLAVE

1046317-gb_concept_super_mutant.jpg

Cl. Autumn has reasons to be proud, and his reputation starts to grow all over the Wastelands. After years of investigation and hard work, Enclave has finally completed project purity, a pionner plan that allows to convert dirty irradiated water into the healthy and valuable Aqua Pura. Enclave soldiers now benefit from this unending source of pure and drinkable water, and word of such accomplishment start to travel the Wastelands (+1RES, better chances of successful negotiations with NPC factions and characters).

Enclave is convinced that a fast and military expansion is key to success, and so they send more troops to colonize parts of the Eastern coast. However, as they approach the vicinities of Washington DC, they stop finding cooperative wastelanders and instead they begin to be attacked by hostile bandit groups, who don´t manage to harm any of Enclave soldiers but threaten with cutting their supplies lines. With all their military focused into the conquest of the Capitol Wastelands, they are unable tor respond and decide to retreat to their homeland.

FInally, Autumn takes control of the troops and marches with the Regular division to the Capitol Wasteland. The plan is to start a diversion attack in the city borders, attracting the Mutants while the Elite Division, currently hiding in the city sewers, will pour out and invade the undefended parts of the city while they receive support from Enclave´s Zeppelin squad.

However, the lack of a proper radio communications system and coordination between air and land forces doom this plan since its start. As soon as the Regular divisions begins marching, the Zeppelins take flight and start bombing keypoints of the city, thus letting the Mutants know that something is approaching the city and that defence must be prepared.

Once Autumn arrives to the city outskirts, the Mutants are perfectly entrenched and waiting for Encave´s soldiers, and so the battle starts...if that could be called a battle. From all directions, Enclave´s troops are harassed by enemy fire, and the Mutants successfully coordinate sniper attacks to the officers with their Hunting Rifles with a massive destruction of plain soldiers via some stationed Mutants armed with the overkilling miniguns. The few soldiers that manage to survive and retreat into nearby buildings end with their skulls smashed as soon as they meet the Mutants armed with super-sledges.

Near the Capitol, the Elite Scout Unit realizes they are needed, and they exit the sewers to attack the Mutants. Although the first stages of the attack are pretty successful to Enclave troops and they even manage to enter the capitol, the Mutants supperiority in Hand to hand combat repeals the attack, and only the Power Armor worn by the Scouts avoid another massacre. The Scout´s officer orders a full retreat, and only the intervention of the Zeppelins aloows the soldiers to come home alive. (Enclave loses its Regular division, Elite Scout Unit returns to the base).
