Given this opportunity, I would like to offer the first golden fan View attachment 1239518 of 2025 to @diskoerekto who regularly contributes comments to a variety of AARs and has been active in the past week. Also, he hasn't won since early in 2024, so he is due.

Congratulations to @diskoerekto !
Thank you for this nomination! I didn't expect it this time, since real life has hampered my activity in this community somewhat in the last 3 years and extensively in the last one. I'm trying to enjoy what time I can spare here though and here is a gift that keeps giving both as a community and as a source for fun reads.

Congrats @diskoerekto
Congratulations @diskoerekto !
Congrats @diskoerekto!
A great choice @Chac1. Congrats @diskoerekto on the first fan of the new year!
Congratulations @diskoerekto! Thank you for your encouragement of the writers!

Mind telling us which AARs you're following these days?

Thank you all for your congratulations and good wishes. It's been a pleasure to read what you wrote, or to reply together with you. As real life has been giving me less time here, at the moment the only active AARs I'm following are ones from my wise friend @Bullfilter and the tutorial EU4 AAR of @jak7139 and I'm enjoying those to the fullest. In the past months I also had a look at the Vicky3 AARs of @Nikolai from a year ago or so but they were already finished when I read them.

Once again, thanks for the nomination and the congratulation and the fun reads, but most of all for the great community here!

A little late, but congrats, @diskoerekto.
thank you as well for your congratulations

Once again, congratulations to all for your good wishes and the nomination. It's been a pleasure to be here as part of this fantastic community, read, comment, and share. For the next nominee, I'm choosing somebody I rarely encounter as the commenter/fan, and mostly as the author. On the other hand, nowadays we're co-active in an AAR not authored by him; which is the Jak's Game Guide: An EU4 Tutorial by @jak7139 and I enjoy his commenting just as much as his authorship.

My dear friend @Bullfilter I'm nominating you as the next fan of the week!

I don't think anybody is, but if there are still people who don't read AARs by @Bullfilter please start because you're missing a lot!

Thank you so much @diskoerekto for the nomination and others who have since offered well wishes. This community has become a significant part of my ‘recreational life’ over the last eight years now in particular, as a place to write, read, comment and share thoughts and views with some great, very creative and supportive online friends. This award is always an honour and to be savoured. Again, thanks.

Thanks once more to the wonderful @diskoerekto for the nomination and for all who have offered congratulations. Been a busy few RL days, but I'll give some quick shouts to a few AARs I'm reading at the moment, mainly that have come out recently (see the awards threads for the longer lists of both new and venerable works).

This is more to give some flags for newer works that either need the support and/or you can get into before they've got too much further.

But first, in Crusader Kings II, I'll just mention @Chac1's Lost Seasons of the Danes - A Viking AAR. It's not a new one, but is always being updated and is a great example of a the multimedia AAR in a different format, that has also spawned sub-threads of related poetry and a discussion of AI art in AARs.

Some great stuff (more established now) in EU4 also gets a fair bit of my eye-time by @jak7139, @coz1 and @Rensslaer. Plenty of other good stuff there if you have a look at the EUIV: After Action Reports (AAR) topic.

I also recommend anything by @Eurasia across a number of the sub-forums.

I will say that HOI4 seems to be very strong at the moment, with both quality established works and some pretty new AARs worth following. Kaiserreich is seeing a bit of love, with both American Carnage - A United States Kaiserreich AAR by @Tommy4ever and American Caesar: A USA Kaiserreich AAR by @Bloodfelt as something of an alt-alt-history pair, with the US taking different paths during its 2nd Civil War. @TheButterflyComposer has added Destiny! Destiny! No Escaping That For Me! – The Historical Sweden Challenge as a bit of a holiday season excursion to his more established Imperial Cheese Part 2: The 'Historical' Run and Tomorrow Belongs To Me - A 'Democratic' Germany AAR. Another new HOI4 offering is Guns, Lawyers and Money, A Road to 56 UFC Honduras run (ahistorical) by @BenKerryAltis , an authAARial newcomer using a less-known mod and a rather interesting/idiosyncratic presentation style.

That's just a quick snapshot for now: there's so much out there worth looking at that I simply don't have the time to get to. Look through the genre topics and award threads to check out many more great reading options.

Next post will be my selection for the next FOTW, but I don't want to obscure/crowd them out by announcing it at the end of this post. ;)
