Olav, gonna need a steer as to how to edit the game to save the refinery - would changing the taregt province for the Weapons Manu in the event file be easiest?

If so which event and what replacement province value should I use.

OK re Novgorod release, Tver will have to wait but I won't let them get bigger.
Well, we could change target province, but Savolaks is actually the best target, as it is the only province we own that got Iron as resource AFAIK. So having a Weapons Manufactory there will give us +12 ducats instead of +6 if we had built it somewhere else. So all in all I think it's best to move the refinery (I suggest Kola). However if we own another iron or copper province, it's much easier to edit the event.

So, if you decide to give up the 800 ducats so we get the manufactory: first save the game. Open the save and search for Kuola. Add this below the fortress value:
Code:
        manufactory = refinery
        construction = refinery
        date = { year = 1501 month = february day = 1 }
I don't know if it's important to change the date...

By the way, Mega Death won't be able to play in this SG. :( So we're down to four - I hope this won't stop us. It isn't too much with one turn in a week? Hopefully not. If there's anybody else out there who reads the SG, now is the time to join in! ;)

One of us is going mad :) Isn't Savolaks a Fur province? If it is I'll just follow Emperor_krk and change the target province.

New World colonisation might be a struggle as absolutely everyone colonises in Interregnum. I'm playing an Al-Andalus game to get some practice, Bulgaria is colonising like crazy while both Quito and Mali have grabbed offshore islands, by 1540 :cool: I've also seen messages about Sindh getting colonial claims in what I think is the Java/Borneo region.

EDIT - The Lulaiva events have a trigger Not Land 7 so we won't see any of them, the cores are nice but we have the land and the other costs look high. The Explorers are nice but I doubt we'll be able to do much with them - too far from the action especially as non-euros also colonise.

Well I'd say this will spice up the game won't it? Some colonial wars are always a nice change after one has played many games as Spain/Portugal/England, colonizing every possible place before any other nation. ;)

I'm the one going mad - I'm mixing up between vanilla and Interregnum. :eek:o It's Tavastland that got Iron, but that's in vanilla. In Interregnum it only got the "marginal" resource. So forget what I said, and follow Emperor_krk's advice. ;)

Upon further investigation, I see that the leaders we get from the Luilava event are pretty much crap, so going with the New World Colonization option must be the best. I agree that it will spice up the game. And, surprise surprise, I think I will set up some rules regarding where we can build colonies. :p Northern provinces (present day Canada) come to mind. What do you think? I don't see Finland expanding in the Caribbean. ;)

To be honest I'd expect the Finns to flock to the Caribbean, it's hot and this way lies the product of the future - Banana Vodka.

I can't wait to see this AAR finished and another succession game started (this time on a mod I am familliar with) :D

Jedrek, you sure you don't want to join in for a turn on this one? Mega Death is apparently out. Haven't heard from Panther. And there's a good chance that I won't be able to go for a few days if my turn falls on the weekend.

Yeah, I think you should try a turn, Jedrek, if you find this interesting. If you don't want to play on the vanilla map - why not start a new SG? There shouldn't be anything wrong with having to SGs active at the same time. ;) Getting enough players may be difficult though...

Nah, two SGs at a time isn't a good idea, I'd rather wait until we finish this before starting another one. However, mój drogi Kubo, byłoby nam z pewnością miło, gdybyś chociaż nam pokibicował w tym AARze ;).

How come? I don't see why there can't be two or more SGs going on independently at the same time, with different players. But I guess you meant with the same players? In that case I agree. :)

Your father was a Woman? Who was he? (Hope you get the reference. :p)

By the way, when/if we start colonize, we should start north/west of the red border. The map is from another game I have running, so we will probably meet many more nations than just the Irish...

And PrawnStar is allowed to grab a "resort" in the Carribean if he wants to.

In RL no thanks, I grew up in Northumberland I like my weather wet, cold and miserable. In game it'll depend on what's available - remember half the Caribbean starts as Maya and a lot of countries get explorers. Those target provinces already have settlers flooding towards them.

Played a few years last night, no disasters yet!

EDIT - I'm enjoying this so I'd be interested in another SG some time soon - not sure about another map I can barely remember this one after so long.

Drogi Emperorze, nawet mnie z A4K nie denerwuj :D

And Brian is right - there's no need for two SGs. I'll wait for this one to end and see what happens. Besides, with all my sympathy to the Orthodoxy... Finland suxx as much as vanilla ;)

Ok I need some input here. Should I vasselise the TO? I'm in an aggressive war thanks to attack dog Tver and I suspect I can vasselise as they are down to four provinces.

Also, is Mazovia releaseable if I take it? We don't actually want it but I'm trying to set up TO for destruction.

Also (again LOL) The Russian Wars End events fired for some countries but they haven't fired for Finland yet - we're still cored on Kurland. Is this WAD or was it because I was at war with the TO at the time? Must get around to actually understanding event code one of these days :rofl:

Hmm, if we decide to vassalize them, then we should also invite them to our alliance (which will cost us some bribes). Or else we may one day DoW our own vassal due to Tver being aggressive. But it would be nice to diploannex them as well, so we get Kurland. It should be possible to release some of their provinces as vassal as well. So I think it is perhaps worth it if we have extra room for another member in our alliance.

I didn't find Mazovia anywhere in the database files. Maybe some other country will get the province if we release a vassal? I can check around a bit.

What's WAD? Anyway, it's nice with a permanent core on Kurland. :)

WAD is Working As Design

Events have overtaken me a bit, all the sieges were running but another war started which also offers some opportunities.

WAD is working as designed.

I'd say if you've knocked 'em down to three or four provinces then force-vassalize. Maybe the event in which we lose the core hasn't fired yet, but it still could once we're at peace. Might be hard to get a CB after that.

Besides I think that part of our house rules is no force-annexation. So we're going to have to vassalize and diplo-annex sometime to get rid of them. Why not now?

I don't, and would be glad if you could explain it to me. ;)
About colonization, I agree with you, Olav, we should go for the northern provinces of America. That is, if they are still accessible.

What I had in mind about the number of SGs is that the scarcity of potential EU2 players renders having two SGs at the same time, each with, say, 5 different players, impossible. Unfortunately :(

I think vassalizing the TO is a nice idea - for the reasons Olav stated already.
Mazovia isn't releasable, not in Interregnum. We may add it though. Or we may just give up the province in the first war in the south we get into (against e.g. Volhynia or Poland).

It appears that we would lose the core on Kurland only if we were not at war against the Teutons between January and March 1544. I think having it as a core will be useful in the future.
