WELCOME TO THE EVER LASTING EMPIRE OF IRIDIA!


Welcome everyone to my new game, the Ever Lasting Empire!. The game this time will be a character based game set up inside a fantastical empire in a different world. The world of Zalsar is currently rapidly developing technology and industries not see before thanks to the use of the powerful Whale oil as a fuel, especially for the empire of Iridia, for the generation of the energy needed as well an explosion in inventions based on it. However it must be emphasized it is meanwhile rapidly exploding, just starting. Much of the world, including the majority of the empire, currently is around the technological level of the american civil war, meaning around 1860s technology in certain areas.

Great ships propelled by sail transverse the seas, as men arm themselves with rifles and guns akin to the weapons of 1850-60 in our world powered by gunpowder. No such thing as ironclads have been developed nor steam ships. Much of the farming of the world is still done the old fashion way, by huge plantations and labor intensives, even though the first apparatus of mechanization are being quickly invented by genious minds. It is the same state on the mining industry, where men with pick axes bring the great ores to fuel the industries of Iridia. The first railroad line, being powered by massive amounts of whale oil, was inaugurated just few years ago. The people in the countryside, by large live by the old customs and traditions of the empire (or their nation) subjected to their lords as labor (since serfdom was abolished 40 years ago) and following closely the religion of their ancestors, knowing nothing of the great things being created at the moment.

The cities of course by their place of trade and development are much busier than the rural areas, you can see the oil textile industries processing cotton to make clothes, the drydocks and ports, and the great merchant houses. Indeed advanced as one may say, however it is the great city of Iridia, the imperial capital where the great advancements are currently concentrated, it is here where factories powered by whale oil have begun appearing, it is much different from the rest of the empire. In here the First and one of the Few Whale Oil refinery exist, processing the whales brought by whaling companies, who sail in ships made of metal and not wood, and powered by whale oil, to hunt the beast around the world. In here ambitious men and women from the natural sciences academy begin developing things beyond imagination, it is here where the Imperial Palace the first building to ever have electricity exist, already the high class neighborhoods have begun adding the electricity to their homes, four of you can't afford it...maybe you should live somewhere else.

The Game itself you will play characters inside at least at the game start of the great and eternal empire of Iridia, based out of the great city of Iridia in this times of change. What will you do will determine the fate of millions around the world, be it explore hidden and new lands, discover secrets, invent gadges that changes the wolrd, or bring equality to all! its all up to you and no one else. It is important to note (a more detailed post will follow) that the Empire of Iridia is a constitutional Empire in whichs the House of lords holds great power inside the goverment and controls much of the imperial family influence. At game start the emperor is death , a war is being waged and a new regency council awaits!.

Orders


Orders are a simple affair, everyone gets 2 orders whatever they may be to do whatever they decide to do, if within their possibilities. The cabinet's position and the regent/emperor get a extra government order to do things may or not be related to their job. Lord Field Marshal and Lord Admiral get a order to do with armies stuff.


Sign Up:

To sign up is easy, as this is a very character centric game, in the lines of Iis game you will build your character selecting several options from each category, then you will pick any property you want up to two (read property). It is important to remeber jobs and so on not covered on honorifics are available too:

Honorifics: honorifics involve a lot of your work and social rank and unlock certain type of property at the start of the game, you can select up to 2 honorifics, but you can definitely choose none if you prefer.

Personality Traits: Personality traits are more defined to your character, you can choose one i will give you a second one randomized.

Example:
Someone picks to be an officer in the Imperial Navy, then i randomize his rank and give it when i return stats, he then pick a school of offense personality trait, so he has a bonus to combat in offensive actions.

Honorifics: Up to 2
Personality Traits: select one and i will give you one random trait.
Property: up to 2
Biography:

Property:
Players of all jobs and classes can own property, after all a man without property is worth nothing in these changing times!. So what is property? Well anything! It can be several merchant vessels, warehouses, whorehouses, large plantations, factories, shipyards and more, as you accumulate wealth and power!. Characters have the possibility to pick up to 2 Properties (whatever they may be) at start, however pay attention certain kind of property is linked to certain honorifics!.

Honorifics:

Sheriff: The sheriff oversee the police and local security forces of a determined area and lands. Being a sheriff usually involve being in charge of the police force of a city. Sheriff have good renown in their areas as they serve as the face of the police to high society.(Sheriff selects a city under his police jurisdiction, +1 to actions dealing with crowd control etc.)

Mayor:
Mayors rules cities and towns. Elected by the people with the right to vote from their area. Currently women are not allowed to vote in elections from the mayor's anywhere. Males have the right to vote for their mayor everywhere however from city to city it varies who can vote be it property owners or every male. (Character selects a city to be mayor or town to be mayor of, high prestige in the city.)

Trade Company: This person owns considerable trade post/hubs/nodes in foreign lands. They are accruing large amounts of wealth because of this. (+15% Income)

Tycoon: In charge of a large business enterprise, and a master of economics. (+1 to administrative rolls)

Shipping Magnate: oversees a sprawling maritime enterprise. (Free reroll for all maritime based administrative rolls. Highest roll is used.)


Officer in the Imperial Army: The Character Is an Officer in the Imperial Armed forces, rank determined by wishes and GM. (must be noble to be after certain rank), can Choose to be the leader of the Imperial Guard, however that is a rank Lieutenant in one go (check mil ranks).

Officer in the Imperial Navy: The Player is an officer in the Imperial navy rank determined by RP and the GM.


Independant Captain: What every boy of the islands desire to be! A free and independent owner of your own ship, king of your castle as they say!. The captains of this world keep the economy running, bring much of the food and more importantly hunt the whales!. (Character can start with his own ship, of his own choosing, be it a whaler, trade ship, pirate ship and so on. Character receive +1 to rolls in sea related activities)

Banker: Ah the bankers, the filthy parasites as the noble call them, yet they hold thousands of golden imperial in debts with them!. Bankers usually utilize their money in investments, supporting new companies and more important than all loaning it. (Character can start with a bank as property as well a great wealth that comes with it, character starts with high influence in the merchant class)

Plantation Baron: The plantation owners possess lots tracts of land, especially in located in the island of Ailhus. Usually plantation owners are nobles whose families successfully went from holding the land as lords, to simple owners of it with hundreds of employees. (allows player to start with large tract of land in Ailhus, Character gains mod amount of influence in the people of the area where his land is and hundreds of farmers.)

Industrialist: You have decided the future of the nation is in the new technologies, and how to mass produce it in factories out of children's tales!. (Industrialist can start with a factory in the capital of the nation and get a +1 bonus to orders dealing with industry.)

Inventors: Ah you may not have money (yet), be born of the slums!, or a foreigner but that matters not for your brain!. All this new plans and thinkings are showing up constantly, you will bring creations to the world beyond what have ever been dream. Inventors are highly intelligent and capable with mechanics and other sciences, making them able to discover new things and develop inventions of their own, who can maybe one day change the world!.( Inventors get a +2 bonus dealing with orders of inventing and developing gadgets etc.)


Natural Scientist: Natural scientist have been the norm in the academic fields for a while now, even though the new rise of mechanical inventors have begun they are extremely valuable. Scientists are highly intelligent and belong unlike the inventors in the Natural Science Society a highly praised and valuable organization. Scientist are able to study nature, and the ways of it, plus start with higher renown. (Scientist get +1 bonus to researching natural wildlife, and dealing with natural sciences. Scientist get a bonus to prestige, +1 to exploration rolls)

Clergymen : The Church of Romelia is the the main religion of the state and the empire as a whole, you belong to the elite who control the masses through the church teaching and its devouts followers. Grants high influence on devout followers on all social classes. Randomize position as one of the island bishops (controling teh church in on of the home islands) or the Grand Archbishop whom control the church of the main home island. ( only for females at game start)

Rebelion Leader: You are on of the traitors to the empire, leading the false republican cause against holy order!, or so the vile oppressors claim. Two spots for becoming rebelion leaders at the republican rebellion at the start of the game. Even if defeated, you remain influential in republican leadership and ideology if survive the war, +influcne on Kusma Island.


Nobility: The player is member of the nobility of the nation, which come with rights and benefits depending the station of the player in the ranks and so on. (noble rank is randomized by the GM, however preference is taken into account if you don't wish to be a high rank)

Claim to <place> : Player have a claim to foreign thrones, or nobility titles having this means a character can press legal or even military actions to take land. This include royal blood to foreign lands or other claims.


Claim to Throne/Imperial Blood : Player has a claim on the Imperial seat though familiar links. The player has a connection to the Sovereign, this allows their voice to carry more clout among the nobility and peasants and furthermore provides added protection from the law due to their blood. Grants Knight noble rank if nobility honorific not selected.

Sovereign (automatic with the Emperor position) : Being the Sovereign grants immunity from the law. It furthermore puts the Imperial Estates and palaces at the players desire and allows them to collect their incomes which are substantial. The trait furthermore grants positions within society and grants an automatic respect towards the character, among other things mentioned under the Emperor/Empress description.

Personality Traits:
Handsome/Beautiful: You are among the most if not the most handsome/beautiful within the realm, making men and women drawn to you. Foreign diplomats praize your looks in reports and foreign nobility speak of your beauty. +Prestige, higher influence on diplomatic actions.

Public speaker: You are a known speaker of the public and has mastered the art, you are able to make crowds roar at your political ideas and speeches. +Public political sway


Glutton: You are known for your love of food, perhaps a bit too much love as you have put on a few pounds as of late, perhaps the corset simply shrunk in the washer. - General public opinion

Hedonist: You enjoy a good cigar, wine, whisky, brandy, expensive food and most importantly, women (or men). While your activities aren't known to the public, then it could cause a scandal should it become public. - General public opinion if discovered and character has a high social standing, +chance of getting children.

Healthy: You have never really been ill, always at great health, up and ready in the morning without issue. Whenever you felt ill it was nothing more than could be slept off in a night. Less likely to die from wounds and diseases.

Insane: You are crazy, everyone knows it. You mood changes, your tongues! it makes you feared. -public opinion of your character. +chance of re roll in an order randomly for better or worse.


Clever: You are very clever, always thinking of ways to solve your problems no matter what they may be, and often succeeding. +1 to rolls

School of the Offense: Some say that the best defense is a good offense, others would put the quote under a picture of you for you certainly adhere to it. You always favour the best offense, and when you see a war table, you see only opportunities where others see obstacles. You are known as a man who will take whatever hill. +2 rolls in offensive military orders


School of Defense: No one is able to draw a better line of defense than you, you can take any position no matter the circumstance and turn it into a fortress, able to hold out against any odds the enemies of the Crown may throw at you. +2 to defensive military orders.

Born tactician: You have a skill for command, no matter what the position may be, do you need to overrun an enemy fortification or erect one yourself, then you are able to do so. +1 roll military orders.

Greedy: The world runs on money, and no one knows that more than you, but now it's different. You need more, your bank account is never large enough, you always want more, see the numbers rise as you salary increases. +10% income


Prestigious family: Your lineage traces back to the great houses of old, your family is a known household name and it wields influence within the Empire. Noble houses would be honoured to be connected to you. +Influence in the House of Lords, better chances of a good marriage.

Bastard: You are the known fruit of an unblessed union outside of the wedlock, it has never been fair for you, it was never your choice but that is how society works. The public may warm up to you, the nobility will always look down upon you. -influence in the House of Lords

Army veteran: You are a veteran of the army, a known soldier and as such can command respect. The younger recruits look to you when in the heat of battle and your fellow veterans know they can count on you and listen to your advice. +influence within the army lower ranks.

Navy veteran: You are a veteran of the navy, a known sailor and as such can command respect. The younger recruits look to you when in the heat of battle and your fellow veterans know they can count on you and listen to your advice. +influence within the navy lower ranks.

Foreigner: You look different, your customs are different, even your religion may be different. You are not a native to the Empire and you come from a foreign land from which you still have connections. The citizens of the Empire may welcome you, but they always look at you an extra time to make sure you behave. -public opinion, + connections of own choosing in a foreign nation, can choose a foreign origin which may provide unique bonuses.

Traditional army officer: You are a man of the old ways, you support the army and the officers within, there is no need for change and if there is, then the army will find out on its own, a vision you share with the senior army officers. +influence among the officer corps

Army officer reformer: The old ways are holding the Imperial army back, while the rest of nation modernizes then the army is turning to a relic of old, no longer able to perform as it once had. It is time for change, and you are one of the men to lead it. +influence among the rank and file soldiers, large influence boost if reforms are carried out by you.


No taxation without representation: Every man has the right to voice his opinion and have a say in how he is governed, we will not be taxed without proper representation as befits every human. +Higher influence among the poor if working for voting rights

Wealthy inheritance: You have wealth and plenty of it, your parents were always frugal and as such when they died they left you a wealthy inheritance. Start with added capital

Generous: You are generous by nature, you always help the homeless, putting out bread and milk to those who cannot afford it themselves. Should a man be short on money or be unable to go to doctor then you have always been willing to help. + your charitable works have brought you closer with the poor

Respectable businessman: You are known in your industry as a man who honours his arrangements and knows his craft, you are respected by your peers and you know a good business deal when you see it. +2 to rolls including business arrangements

Diplomatic nature: You know how to mince words, you know how to turn a boring story into an adventure of old. You are perfect for foreign courts when the Empire needs to charm a foreign kingdom or simply secure a favourable agreement. +2 to rolls in orders of diplomatic nature

War hero: You are a hero of war, your name is known in every home and the Sovereign personally awarded you the Order of Nir, your achievements are grand, something neither peasant or noble would deny, and as such have given you clout within the nation. +Influence amongst the Empire, higher chance of political office


Gifted administrator: You are skilled in administering whatever you put yourself to, if it be army supplies, taxation, infrastructure reforms, a workplace, it just comes naturally to you. +2 to administrative rolls

Shady business associates: You have contacts with what many would call scum and people of low morality and lack of manners. If you need something, you know who to go to if you cannot obtain it through legal means, or your wishes need special care. +2 to intrigue orders.

Nobility Ranks:
Knight: Someone who has been knighted. It is too the way normally peasants are granted noble titles. Knights are given out by the emperor but need 51% approval by the house of lords. Once in charge of all military matters the knights have spent the last century being pushed out:

  • Knights can be officers in the Imperial Army, usually start at level similar to commoners but can climb the ladder.
  • Low Level Influence in the Imperial Army if in the army.
  • Low level prestige bonus
Baron: Once the lowest level of the proper nobility scale. Now the majority of the members of the House of Lords.
  • Low level of influence on the House of Lords
  • Medium Influence on the rural peasants.
  • Low level prestige bonus.
  • Can be officers in the Imperial Army
Earl: Once the rulers of counties and castles around the empire now a days they are many of the minor nobility of the House of Lord
  • Medium level influence in the house of lords
  • Medium Bonus to initial prestige
  • Can be officers in the imperial Army
Margrave: Especial Rank of the nobility once upon a time given to frontier lords, to command the defence of the kingdom. Still many margrave noble have kept the military traditions of the past.
  • High Influence in the Imperial Army
  • Must be an Officer in the Imperial Army
Duke: Once upon a time ruled entire provinces and islands on their own. Now a days those times are gone.
  • High Influence in the House of Lords
  • Can Serve as an Officer in the Imperial Navy
  • High Bonus to Initial Prestige
Voivode: There are few voivodes, yet they are often left in charge to exert royal power over whole regions or territories. This position is never hereditary because of this. Voivoides get high influence inside their region and authority to carry out projects. There are only Four Domestic Regions:
  • Ailhus Region
  • Tasmir-Carbona Island
  • Kusma Region
  • Eastern Region
Emperor - Highest position of country, as royalty. Influence Limited as Underage Emperor.
  • Benefit(s) - Large levels of Influence in the House of Lords, Imperial Navy, Government and and Foreign Policies

Imperial Armed Forces
Imperial Navy:
The Imperial Navy is the most esteemed institution of the empire, where men go to serve proudly their nation and the emperor himself. The Imperial Navy admiralty (HQ ) is located in the home island of Iridia , meanwhile the Imperial Naval Academy where the new officers for the navy are trained is located in the Island of Romelia.

Unlike the armed forces the imperial navy as the main arm of the emperor and the defence of the nation do not discriminate based on class, instead everyone is allowed to attend the naval academy is the can afford it, of course this means most officers are from families that can support their studies, however several scholarships are given to talented young men from the masses every year so they can attend the academy. In the imperial academy service to the emperor is stressed as service to the empire itself, for the emperor is the empire and the navy his sword.

The Leader of the Imperial navy, the Lord Admiral is elected by the emperor directly and carry enormous influence on the members of the naval forces, it mainly comes from the active admirals or sometimes from retired admirals to bring back their knowledge. The naval force is equipped with what are called marines, soldiers whom main job is to fight in boarding actions (or to board other ships) and fast raids against targets of the fleet. Big landing operations are done by the soldiers from the army.

Imperial Navy Ranks

Lord Admiral: selected by the emperor himself to lead the naval forces of the empire the lord admiral possess the utmost admiration of the naval personnel, even though as a “dog of the emperor” it is not well looked in the house of lords especially when commoners are granted the privilege. Usually a desk job, once in awhile the Lord Admiral takes the field himself.

Admiral: Admirals are the direct subordinates of the Lord Admiral. They are usually leading large concentration of the naval forces for example, the Northern fleet, central forces etc. In war they lead up to hundred of ships to great confrontations.

Rear Admirals: The subordinates of the admirals used to command segments of huge forces or when an area posses several bases that must be protected spread into several islands. Rear admirals take command of several dozen ships for their assigned segment.

Commodores: The commodores command naval squadron in the seas in the name of the empire, to bring prosperity and glory to it. Usually commanding squadrons sometime close to twelve ships, commodores are the day to day issue fixers, patrol this trade routes, fight pirates, carrying sneak attacks and so on on ports.

Captain: captains as the name implies command a single ship as kings, usually they are grouped into commodores task forces when many ships are needed for big actions. However their modus operandis is to operate on their own, patrolling the seas, scorting trade ships and doing daring raids upon unsuspecting foes or enemies of the empire.

Imperial Army:

The Imperial army is lead by the Lord Field-Marshall, whom is elected by the House of Lords, working in some sort of defence minister position in our world. Unlike the Imperial navy, the Lord-General is most of the time a political appointment and without actual connection to the army of military knowledge.

Officers in the army are almost invariable members of the nobility, be it noble title themselves or related to them as lesser nobles. Officer positions carry with the tradition to be sold to nobles and regiments led formed from people from specific locations, for example the Darriwell regiments and so on. Unlike the navy only nobles are ever given officer positions, few commoners have achieved high ranks in the army much less the position of Lord-General.

The army ideally works in tandem with the navy. Being supported and launched from the ships to occupy land as the naval forces don’t are usually expected to fight, nor have any sort of special forces on their own.

The lowers ranks of the Imperial Army have been pushing for modernization of the weaponry used by the armed forces and the expansion of it however the noble class have been reticent of such things, especially the creation of military academies like the imperial navy possesses.

It is important to note the special unit that the Imperial Guard is commanded by a liuetenant the 300 strong man force is the elite of the army, tasked with protecting the emperor, his properties and the imperial palace of Tolstov. Unlike the rest of the army, it give great renoen and fame to be part of the Imperial Guard and is a position any soldier or low level commander would want.

Imperial Army Rank:

Lord Field-Marshall: Supreme ruler of the armed forces below the Theoretical control of the emperor of it. Being awarded this rank give great amount of influence in the officers corps however much more valuable influence in the house of lords.

General: Generals are the direct subordinates of the LFM, generally in charge of regional forces and garrisons in entire islands for example. As well battle groups when at war.

Colonels: ranked below the generals the colonels are their direct subordinates carrying the directions of segments of the forces under the general control and leading in the field unlike generals usually leading parts of the armed forces for example garrison of provinces and frontier lands.

Majors: Subordinates of the colonels leading small forces inside the Colonel regional commands usually garrisons of a city, fort, fortress and so on and part of their forces. Major usually command cavalry forces personally meanwhile they put their infantry man under their subordinates.

Lieutenants: The highest rank a non noble have ever achieved. Lieutenants can only command infantry forces if a non noble. Usually the rank given to young nobles from start so they can begin gaining experience and expertize they command infantry or cavalry units. The truth is no many non nobility is granted the position as there are always nobles wanting to play army.

Captains: Captains already implies the non nobility of his holder. There has never been a noble whom have wielded such lowly rank. Captains usually leads small forces for their lieutenants, are used as guards of certain outpost, parts of walls, small advance guard outpost in the borders and first line of defence (to not risk noble life in a surprise invasion). It is the true higher rank commoners can achieve as in practice few if ever commoners are names lieutenants.

Even though in other nations, the ranks of captains (or comparable) are higher that lieutenants , in the imperial army is the lower rank of commissioned officers in order to show the navy is below nobility no matter their ranks (as captains is a rank in the imperial navy)

History of the Empire of Iridia

Year 50 OC : King Jonah III begins the First Invasion of Ailhus Island, landing with 4,000 soldiers and accompanied by 20 warships.
Year 70-80 OC: Second Ailhus War breaks when Jonah III´s Son King Mardurs, invade neighboring small clans with a force of 7,000 soldiers.
Year 120-150 OC: Third War of Ailhus against the southern confederation, would drag out for thirty years but end in victory.
Year 200 OC: The first margraves of Aihus are created to defend the border against never ending raids and rebellions, granting themselves extensives lands.
Year 220-400 OC: Pacification and conquest of southern ailhus by independent Margrave actions.
Year 438 OC: The kingdom of Utican is divided between the twin Brother Malchor and Melkor.
Year 438 OC - 1 IC: Melkor finish the Utican Union wars, unifying the central and southern kingdom and forming the Utican Empire.
Year 468 OC-1 IC : The Ravinoid civil war ends, with the defeat of the mad king Marrian Ravinoid and the ascension to the throne of his cousin from Tasmir island, King Valers I, whom declares the Kingdom of X into the empire of X as a renewed power of the world after twenty years of civil war, beginning the new Imperial Calendar.
Year 12 IC : Conquest of the Kingdom of Kuril and the Kusmian People.
Year 50-55 IC: Renewed conflict with the people of Ailhus, beginning of mass migration of Imperial subjects to new conquered lands. Defeat of the central coalition, and ascension of the three petty kingdoms.
Year 84-87 IC : The Nobles uprising, after attemps to centrilize the empire by emperor Marius II, nobility from Ailhus, Novers and Nira raised up against the emperor, after convincing severl key noble members of the royalist faction to betray the emperor crippling dfeat was given to the royalist army in the batlle of Yakon, Novers Island. The following peace agreement would create the House of Lords and reshape the empire.
Year 100 IC: The Eire High Kingdom is formed to oppose more imperial expansion.

Goverment of the Empire
House of Lords

The house of Lords is composed for every single nobility member out there (meaning carrying principle title). They house serve as “equalizer” between the nobles meaning each only get one vote, however the truth is many nobles are highly influential and convince other to support whatever they are wanting at the moment, as well ideological similarities and so on. It is the ruling body of the nation were laws, budgets proposals and projects are accepted or denied, including the ones the emperor herself/himself propose.

In order to go to war the any member of the house can propose it, it needs 60% of the votes to be passed. This applies to signing treaties with foreign nations, 60% is needed to pass.


It is quite the battlefield as prominent nobles battle to get the support of a commanding percentage to get things pass. At the present time after modifications through history a proposal only needs 51% to pass the parliament, the weight of the lords that abstain or don't vote is reduced from the number needed (so if you don't vote, you aren't counted for the %). The House of Lords only accept new proposals until ¾ of the season (aka of the turn length). Votes go off until the end of it or when a 51% is achieved, whichever happens first.

The emperor meanwhile having the need to obtain support in the house to pass laws and protect, have ultimate veto over the proposals about foreign policy, with the lost of control of internal proposals some 125 years ago with the foundation of the House of Lords. This means all foreign deals, treaties, war declaration and even peace declarations can be vetoed by him, with no way to reverse.

The House of lords elect the Lord general of the empire, according to the laws, anyone can be elected Lord Commander of the Armed forces of the empire, yet in practice as the armed forces officers corps are mainly staffed by nobles and noble relatives it's usually someone from the House of lords elected to the position, without care for military knowledge or not and more to do with politics. There has been cases of non nobility elected for the position, yet they never last long. Lord Commander position comes upon review,every 3 years is elected by simple majority (meaning whoever candidate gets the most votes) and can be dismissed at the will of the House of Lords with 51% support of it. The lord-Field Marshal position election and dismissal cannot be vetoed by the Emperor

Non-members of the House can petition the house for projects or help or what not, as don't the nobles care for all the nation?. However once the petition is done they have no right to vote, no to discuss it with the rest of the house, they must simply let the house debate on vote on it. On practice rich men from the country that hope for some sort of grant or permit bribes nobles in meeting to vote for their prepositions or make propositions in their instead adding another layer of politics to the house.

The House can ask for the dismissal of a member of the cabinet of the Emperor with a vote of no confidence on their acting, however this vote have meanwhile be called many times, succeed little for there is a need of 70% of the vote to achieve so. Even then the emperor can veto the dismissal of his cabinet member for one season in which another vote will be taken to verify if the house still feels the same. Another work of the House is to vote in extra money grants requested by the cabinet members of the imperial cabinet. The Emperor/Empress:
The Emperor position have been retained by the same family since almost 200 Years ago, making it almost virtually impossible non related claimants exist for the throne of the empire. After the reformations of the government systems, which eliminated the absolute position of the emperor and created the House of Lords some 125 years ago.

The emperor have several offices whom he appoints without the intervention of the House of Lords to rule the nation, those are: The foreign Ministry, The Ministry of Finance,The Lord Admiral of the Empire and the Ministry of Imperial Affairs.

Cabinet
Foreign Affairs Ministry:
Usually a trusted member of his highness close circle, most of its jobs is analysis reports coming from foreign nations, making deals to be passed in the House of lords, advising the emperor on foreign relations or attempting to establish strong alliances and deter war with the many enemies of the ever glorious empire. This position comes with a great deal of influence and connection outside of the country ands is many times seek by those who wants to use outside forces to grow in power.


Minister of Finance:
The minister of finance is the Emperor’s right hand man, carrying out policies of all kinds, from new taxation, to public infrastructure, leasing lands, permits and more in the name of the Emperor. The position manages large amounts of money as well as control over the taxation of the lands and the revenue of the state. Highly influential in the nation, this position is sought by those wanting to obtain great power and friends with it.


Lord Admiral:
The Lord Admiral is appointed by the emperor himself without need of approval from the House of Lords thanks to a loophole in the legislation which created the House of Lords, exploited by the emperors some 100 years ago creating the position of Lord admiral as supreme commander of the prestigious imperial navy and all its members. Unlike the Lord-Commander, the men usually appointed to the position are officers of the Imperial navy or retired admirals, who knows the ways of the seas and more importantly hold loyalty to the emperor of the nation. There have been only a few men appointed to lead the navy whom have not been an officer from it. Unlike the Army, many officers from the navy are not nobles, and many of the Lord Admiral's have come from humble origins.

Lord Field-Marshal:
Maximum leader of the proud armed forces of the empire. The HLG is elected by the House of Lords without the input of the emperor, contrary to the Imperial navy the HLG many times is selected more for his connections and money than any actual ability to lead men to war or any such things. Usually the HLG are not that loyal to the emperor as their loyalties lies with the House of Lords, for only few times it has been a non-noble elected for the position


Ministry of Imperial Affairs:
A secretive position designed directly by the emperor, the imperial spymaster. while not an unknown position of the state, is shrouded in mystery and conspiracy, after all he operates with almost absolute freedom, granting the emperor no need to know of his activities or be informed of them in case all blow up. The Imperial spymaster leads the operative of the empire externally and internally for the safety of all.

The Emperor has further duties, such as opening the house of lords every year, as well as attending once a season to listen to partitions and the plans of the government. The sovereign furthermore must sign any law for it to come into effect and be recognized, however unless they are in certain terms where he has the right to veto, he cannot refuse to sign a law.


Society of the Empire
Shining, glamour, prestige and splendor, all of which can describe the nation of Iridia, at the center of which stands the Tolstov Palace, the Imperial Palace within the capital where the Sovereign resides. But the moment that one enters the slums of the capital and enters the rural areas of the Empire the image shatters. Poverty, sickness and hunger reign supreme amongst the peasants who work the fields of the Empire, who struggle in the mines under fear of daily collapse and the lower servants who scrub the floors of the lavish mansions, palaces and estates of the upper classes. While a select few dines, drinks and parties away their lives, others struggle to allow them to live a life of luxury.

The society within the Empire is vastly different from the rich to the poor, money is plenty for the rich who grow up in luxury and plenty. The richest grow up in gilded bedrooms without a worry in their mind, they often receive private education from tutors who live in the house with them or in the nearby villages. The vast majority of the nobility could never dream of entertaining a member of the peasant classes, as many views it as below them due to the simple fact of their blood and bloodlines.

The nobility is the officers of the Empire, leading its young men in battle during times of war, above the rest. The nobility furthermore gets several privileges and rights within society, there are laws which they do not abide, such as several taxes, but they also have the right to sit in the House of Lords as long as they have a title of nobility, as such it excludes brothers and offspring of lords.

Due to the prestige of the armed forces, the nobility often wear their uniforms at events or while at court, together with their medals to show prominence. Attending the Imperial Court is less frequent nowadays, it happens during the summer months between June and August where a month is reserved for balls, dinners and so forth, here young ladies seeking marriage are presented in front of the Sovereign who will give them his blessing and welcome them to the capital. After which they they greet and converse with the rest of the nobility, aiming to find a proper husband.

The middleclass is a rising class within the Empire, brought about by increasing trade but more importantly the new technologies which are developing all around the Empire. These are the merchants, bankers, jewelers and industrialists who are still growing in wealth and power, and who even with small voices are beginning to demand a right in how the country is governed. They number only a small percentage of the population, but are mainly located within the cities where they seek out new adventures and investments. An older class of this social class also exists in the countryside, often simply referred to as the landed gentry in times past. Many in this class learn how to read and write, allowing them to hold offices of mayors and sheriffs and run the day to day business of the empire. It also often from this class that the naval officers of the Empire have their origins, as they can afford an education for their children, while at the same time can avoid the snobbish nature of the army. Those children who have exceeded expectations here have gone on to great naval careers, and some even rewarded with nobility.

The lower classes of the Empire makes up for all the farmers, miners, laborers and so forth who lack decent wages and income. The class is almost entirely illiterate and without prospect of rising within the Empire. As of late there have been a migration of the poor on the home island to the capital, with the rising of industries as a new way of seeking employment and a better life. They are often treated harshly in front of the law, and if a lord of the Empire accuses a peasant than its rare that anything but a pretend trial occurs.

A woman’s place in the world

Women within the Empire have the right to inheritance, both high and low under the circumstance that no male offspring of their parents. If this is the case then a woman has the right to inherit all of her parents lands, as well as their position within the House of Lords. Due to this it has become normal that women have a voice in politics, even if a weak and small one as these circumstances are rarely met.

It is also uncommon for women to be in the armed forces, but not impossible, just a rarity. This is not to say there aren’t several thousand as many work as nurses for wounded soldiers, but as commanding officers they are a true rarity, that said there have been a handful of truly renowned female officers. Women like men also have the right to start businesses, but as it is a patriarchal society it very rarely happens, and most businesses that women own are sewing and nursing as they are considered unfit for large industrial corporations, but one woman has to be the first to change that.

The Judicial System

The judicial system within the Empire is split into four parts, the County Court, the Ducal Court and the Imperial Court.
  • The County Court: This court deals with minor crimes such as brawls without loss of life, property damage, poaching, drunkenness and other similar offenses which could be dealt with without much trouble where the guilt is also clear. This has come about as the Ducal Courts had become tied down with too much work compared to how often they gather, and as such the County Court was constructed to handle lesser crimes.
  • The Ducal Court: Meet once every season, they handled judgement which involved capital offenses (death penalty) where they dealt with all crimes of this matter.
  • The Imperial Court: The Imperial court meets twice a year and judges cases with treasonous nature, they furthermore interpret law which has been submitted by mayors and local magistrates who are unclear as to what the intent and wording is to be understood and carried out.

Main Resources
Coinage:
Oh the good old, cooper? No too small? Maybe silver is more of your like? Oh i see, gold...the doom of all men. What would anyone be without any coin? Just ask the broke nobles who sell their votes for some coin of the fat merchants and industrialists alike!. The Empire of Iridia use the following system :
  • 1 Golden Iridian = 100 Silver Crowns
  • 1 Silver Crown = 100 Cooper Marks.

Whale Oil:

A whale oil, the nectar of the gods, the empire, infact much of the world have had the long tradition of hunting whales, however it hasn't been until recently that it have been achieved at mass scale with the improvement of ships and technology for harpoons to do so.

It was only twenty-three years ago that the vaunted natural scientist Ivan Ivanovich discovered that the oil you could make from the fat and blood of the whales possessed high amounts of trapped energy, beyond any known substance, not three years passed since the first uses for igniting began to be developed, today, Abramovich inventions is one of the great technological houses refining the oil. Whale oil is the great fuel of our world, which have launched to technologies not though before!.

Meanwhile practical applications are now appearing, it's already used to bring energy to the factories appearing in our vaunted capital, as well power up the great whaling ships made of metal, for the ever hungry refineries. It is no small thing to say whaling is the great industry of our time!.

Metal Deposits:

he ore deposits of iron, copper, coal and more are important to feed the growing industries of the empire, the build the new ships, and to create the steel needed for all. If coal is to power up all, metal is to actually be transformed into something else. Most Iron and Coal mines are located in Carbonna Island, with minor ones spread in other areas.

Precious Metal and mineral Deposits:
Precious metals, be it silver, gold, diamonds, or any other precious stones, will always be highly valuable be it for glamours, the rich or making the coinage of the empire. Most Gold and Silver Mines located in Slaven Island with spread in other places.

Timber:
ah the material of the ages, timber is used everyone to build the highest and mightiest palace, to build the great warships of the empire and more. Yet the rise of the new technologies threaten to break the great timber fortunes, for metal plates are the future, some say.

Nations of Zalsar
Pavithra (Southern Continent):
The lands of the South meanwhile had been known for a while as unreachable until not long ago, a history full of failed colonies and lost voyages. Until that changed recently, with the advent of better ships and technology the empire was the first to successfully settle a colony on one of the surrounding islands, followed by several other nations. The colonization attempts have been disrupted in the empire by internal instability as such no more colonies have been set up yet, however the colony that do exist is already well established and becoming increasingly wealthy by exporting cane sugar and much more importantly spices obtained by trading with natives in the coast. What other wonders and riches await in the mysterious, brutal and savages lands?

Winja Continent:
The northmost continent and until recently the biggest landmass in the entire world is the Winja Continent. The winja continent being is naturally colder than the rest of the known world for its location, yet it paradoxically have a great population exceeding any other known landmass. Inside it there are three nations:
The Lagus Republic:
The lagus republic is a city state nation created after a failed revolution against the Utican Empire by several lords. Even though the war eventually was turn against the revolters (even with shadow support of the Empire), eventually the emperor of the time was convinced he must launch a war to keep a hold of the areas, the imperial navy meanwhile allowed resupply of the city and nearby areas could not push inland, and a stalemate was met. With suffering trade by the Utican Empire, and agreement was done. The Lagus Republic was created from the nobility that escaped the Utican Empire centralization efforts. Currently it is really an oligarchy controlled by local and exiled nobles and allied to our most glorious empire.

The Kingdom of Istaria:
The kingdom of Istaria was created after by the brother of the King of Utican some 250 years ago after the empire was divided between the two sons of the dying king. Several wars have been waged as both families have claims upon each other's being related and all, always ending in Utican small victory. Currently, the kingdom had ended a civil war between different branches of the ruling family for control of it which have resulting the exiling or destruction of several branches of the family (with several well known cousins/nephews of both sexes being escaping the kingdom). The current king’s only surviving child is his daughter, whom is engaged to the heir of the Utican Empire, once more launching fears of a reunified continent spanning empire which would be able to pull its resources from border defenses and fortifications to build a navy to rival our glorious empire, nonsense of course we say.

The Utican Empire:
The Utican Empire, one of the major rivals of our glorious empire, the most populous nation in the known world and one of the biggest armed forces too. The Utican Empire was formed from the Utican Kingdom after its division 250 years ago. With the loss of half the kingdom to the north the newly crowned and young king launched a series of successful wars unifying the resisting kingdoms with bribes, arms and extortion at his death fifty years later the central and southern continent was on his hands. From there on it has entered repeated clashes with our glorious and everlasting empire.

The lagus war seventy five years ago which ended in victory, and the failed Zarmir (lasted 3 years) war some fifteen years ago lead by our recently deceased emperor, which many heroes died in a bid to liberate Zarmir island, with near fifty thousand soldiers and fifty five warships were lost. The Utican Empire is ruled by the absolute power of the Utican imperial family, whom centralized the empire after the Lagus war, exiling nobles opposing it and crushing the rebellion independant nobles, a most atrocious act. Now fears exist the Current heir to the throne shall reunite the brotherly kingdoms, as he is engaged to the female heir to the kingdom of Istaria.

The hated Utican Empire, is currently supporting materially the madmen of Kusma island in their unlawful and traitorous rebellion against our most prominent empire, meanwhile they have not began to directly send troops, rumors say they have allowed mercenaries and are delivering weapons and supplies to ensure their independence as well as trading with them, we will not allow our citizens to be destroyed by madmen.

The Central Isles:

The Island of Ailhus
The island of Ailhus, rightful land of our everlasting empire. King Jonah III launched the first wars of conquest some 600 years ago, slowly but surely the border lords have driven the Eirea people from the land and converted them to the proper imperial ways. Currently some half the island enjoys the luxuries and ways of our empire, with the great lords of the empire ruling enormous plantations to feed our nation, and our proud and noble army watching the border as well keeping the Eirea on their places, below the righteous imperial colonist and citizens.

It is in Ailhus that the imperial army is most popular and one of the major focus of noble power in the empire with great extensions of lands and plantations owned by them as their sons lead the army to defend the colonist. Campaigns planned to finish once and for all the conquest of the now called Eire High Kingdom have stalled with the failure of the Zarmir war and the following internal conflicts.

Meanwhile the enslaved of Eireas that once was practices was abolished alongside serfdom on the empire some one hundred years ago, discrimination against them still exist especially in the higher the position they get to.

The Mivean Thalassocracy:
The Thalassocracy formed from an alliance between the 3 islands of Mir, Nar and Kar to fight the growing power of our most beloved empire upon the seas, some four hundred years ago. The islands grown rich by control of much of the trade with the western islands which afforded a great's navy. Failures to destroy the Thalassocracy have fueled their expansion by integration of several other city states island nations as well outright conquest, making them a bitter naval enemy which works to undermine us at every steps. Currently their control of the trading lines to the western islands fuel their ever growing fight with our empire, forcing our merchants to pass by their waters or brave the pirates from the Meladir islands or the never ending raids of the brutal warriors of the south, the last passage the death filled passage of Carbona another unlikely way.

Several wars have been waged against the Thalassocracy including taking the island of Slaven from them, some one hundred years ago in a pyrrhic victory at seas which doomed their mercenary forces. Renowned for their warships and trading ways, the thalassocracy possessed weak land armies, however with the immense wealth they really in foreign mercenaries from the western islands to fill the void and volunteer citizens being drafted especially from their only real mainland hold in our borders.

The Thalassocracy is infact a confederacy of several city states, each sending a representative to the great council in the city of Narbonna where they lead the nation in the matters of diplomacy and foreign relations. Each city have rights to rule their land as their wish as well their naval and mercenary forces.


The Meladir Islands:
The Meladir islands are resource poor islands where their folk survive mainly on fishing and whale hunting, in fact it is believed the best whale hunters come from this land, With such poverty and hunger in their nation they take early to the use of boats and piracy, meanwhile low on population many of their best can be seen leading naval forces for the thalassocracy and other islands nations as well their our merchant forces , even the empire have many of them in their sailor ranks. What can be say however the trade routes taking near them are dangerous and usually attacked by pirates desperate for gold to provide for their families and lands. The islands have no real government or laws, dens of depravity and piracy they are where a man is truly his own king.

The Island of Tasmir(Part of the Empire of Iridia)
The current royal family hails from the island of Tasmir, from the powerful and still connect nobles of the area, through several wars and inheritance much of the island is under control of the empire, with only the southern cone being lost to the Thalassocracy. Many influential nobles, especially of the imperial faction hail from the island as they have blood connections to the Imperial family which now look with worry the death of their emperor at the hands of rebels in Kusma and the election of a regent for the young heir, which could spell the beginning of a new power clique.

Kusma Island(Part of the Empire of Iridia):
The island of Kusma is the lasty trade post to the island kingdom of Lahore, a land of mystery and more important neutrality, trading to all their exquisite and elaborate crafts, many rich merchants hail from Kusma making their fortune in trade. The island too have fertile lands for cultivation and one of the last lands to be inhabited by the people of the empire, some two hundred or so years ago ago during the fourth expansion era. The previous kingdom was subjugated to the might of the empire and its people integrated with a royal marriage between the two. After the disastrous defeat in the Zarmir War the imperial army was weakened considerably, more importantly the southern fleet lost many of its forces.

Fearful of the future, new taxes imposed on trade to rebuild the fleet and assured by the Utica empire they could achieve victory the people of Kusma have led a revolt against the empire!. Most dastardly even though many nobles were killed or have fled several have become the paragon and leaders of the movement to start a “republic” like the nonsense of the west!!. Our brave Emperor Emiliano V, personally and against the wishes of many took the field against the traitors, the reason for doing so that he blamed the noble leadership for the defeat in the Zarmir war as a way to undermine him. As providence may have it a lucky sharpshooter took the life of our most glorious leader, dying before he could see his young child once more!.

Now the traitors of Kusma believe they are safe as the imperial forces have retreated from the island, however many loyalist hope for the return of our righteous men to reestablish order once more!.

The Island of Nira (Part of the empire of Iridia): The island of Nira is renown in the empire for its whale hunting, being the traditional activity of the inhabitants of the area, with the explosion of whale hunting needs, hundreds are leaving its ports to find the precious cargo, famous natural scientist Ivan Ivanovich. comes from the island.

The Island of Iridia (Part of the EMpire of Iridia): Home island of the empire where the biggest city in the world, the mighty city of Iridia resides and much of the nobility of the empire comes from!, in here the mighty Imperial Palace wtch over the city and the first railroad amaze everyone. It is in Iriadia that the 150 square miles, and with 4000 rooms imperial palace of Tolstov sits guarded by the Imperial Guards and elite 300 men strong force tasked with protecting the emperor and his lands.

The Island of Slaven (Part of the EMpire of Iridia): The island of slaven was won from the Miviean bastards some 70 years ago, and since then have been the location of the Imperial Naval academy as well renown for its silvers and gold mines.

The Island of Carbonna (Part of the EMpire of Iridia): The island of Carbonna , one of the main raiding targets of the Meladir pirates, and the further point of the empire, much of the iron of the empire comes from the island

The Island of Novers (part of the Empire of Iridia) : Novers is not particularly especial, very similar to Iridia, was one of the first annexed islands into the empire, with a strong population and fertile lands.

The Republic of Nikon:
When the bloody republican wave of the dark decades hit the world (approximately forty years ago), it was on Nikon where all started and survived the righteous purging by the forces of order and justice. The so called Republic of Nikon is a den of depravity, where men are declared “equal” under god, where the mob rules the land!. In the lands of the republic a constitution made by the lesser rules the land with their elected president and their so called elected chamber of representatives.

People from Nikon are always to be watched as they could be republican infiltrators trying to once more spread their disease across the lands. The truth is however the republic survived and consolidated from the ashes of the Kingdom of Nikon. The republic truly came to exist after the royalist forces and their Kasmir and Taros allies were defeated and expelled from the island. WIth it the seven years long war ended and the Nikon royal family fled across the world to safety hoping to recover one day their throne. From them on untold amounts of nobles have fled or been purged as the so called Republic build itself up, though weakened by the war greatly and the embargo on it on its early years (the empire ended it some 10 years ago, kasmir still doesn't trade with them) they represent a threat as they hope to expand their evil ideology once more.

The Union of Taros:
The union of Taros is what remains of the Tarossian monarchy, when the revolutionaries waves hit the Tarossian kingdom began helping the Nikon monarchy as they were closely related, with it came war and shortcoming that exploded into their own rebellion (as it happened in many other countries), with so many resources tied up in the foreign war the kingdom began losing against the rebels in their homelands, only saved by a noble army descending in the lands of the duchy of Stigra. At the end of the conflict the kingdom peace agreement created three new nations, the Union of Taros, out of Taros city ruled by the royal family. The republic of Polska ruling from Polska city and the duchy of Stigra an independant new royal nation. The union even though with enough contacts around the world lacks the population of its land rivals.

The Republic of Polska:
The republic was born out of the dissatisfaction with the ways of the monarchy, rebellion grew into a true revolution, out of polska city and then the formation of the republic. Holding half the entire island population, the republic however have strained finances, as well a weak navy compared to the Union of Taros of the duchy which make them target of raids. Maintaining a big army for its size on its borders always watching for an invasion.

The Duchy of Stigra:
The duchy of stigra born out of a collapsing kingdom, called illegal by the Union of Taros at a perpetual cold war with the republic of Polska. The duchy maintains the best armed and trained army on the island, filled with mercenaries from other lands to boost up from their lower population and relative decent navy compared with the republic, though below taros, ruled from the inland city of stigra.

The Kingdom of Kaldosia:
The kingdom of Kaldosia, out of Kalder city, one of the most unstable monarchies, why? Because the extensive royal family of it, with hundreds of living members!. Nobles usually put themselves on camps to try to unseat current kings for other which may favor them, keeping the intrigue and fighting always high in the court, with assassinations not being uncommon. The kingdom possess strong cities however as they are regularly assaulted by raiding clans of Nairia, they have launched several punitive actions, yet the low stability back home always end them on failure.

The Southern Islands:
The Sultanate of Lahore:
The exotic lands of Lahore, truly a absurd place where the ruler or sultan possess a harmem one thousand woman strong!. What really disturbs us though is that this harem is the true power of the sultanate, meanwhile the sultan live to enjoy the pleasure of life his harem control government positions, lead their armies lead the state and finances!.

The Kingdom of Meldavar:
Enemy of Moldavar, the kingdom have attempted to take the city back many times, failing to do so every time. Ruled by the same family since 500 years ago, one of the oldest lineage of the world.

The city of Moldavar:
The city of moldavar and their eternal enemy the Kingdom of Meldavar are truly just equal with different names. The city of Moldavar is ruled by an oligarchy composed of a branch families of the noble families of Moldavar turned merchants. The small island is rich thanks to its trade of species nairia and the southern continent explorations.

The Nairian Clans:
The lands of the Nairia islands are divided into hundreds of different clans each not answering to other. The people of nairian are one of the best and still remaining warrior people, living greatly of plunder and attacks upon trade as well raids of cities and lands not so nearby attacking islands in their proximity. Once in awhile they unify under a strong religious figure and launch crusades in attempts to conquer other islands. They have been repealed most of the time, with last crusade time at the same time as the republican revolutions some fifty years ago, some wonder when another one will hit. Do not take the naiian clans as barbarians with no technology of course, they are dangerous people, which do not falter behind as some may think, their warships believed to be one of the best on the world.

Biography:
Lord Arthur lead an interesting life. Born the son of Lord William Neville, the 4th Duke of Towton, he was already raised in a traditional martial family, know to have produced some ofthe mightiest generals the empire ever saw. Arthur's father, William, was a good commander, however, since a young age Arthur would read on military strategy, and in the old campaigns of the Empire and would see all the mistakes his father would do while planning manouvers and tactics. Arthur, on the other hand, showed himself to be brilliant, a very intelligent man, he was known to be able to beat anyone in chess, including his father and his fellow peers, and showed to have an extraordinary knowledge in military tactics and History. His course was already set from the start, and he, like all the men of his family, joined the Imperial Army at the age of 16, to do his duty in the name of the emperor. In the military, he drew up a career tha would shame most others, since the beginning he was known to have been not only a brilliant commander, but also a brutal administrator, who managed large regiments and orders whit alot of ease at the same time, quickly gaining the title of Colonel of the Imperial army. His time to shine however came during the Zarmir war, though the war was a failure, Arthur showed his tactical genius, striking and leading some of the few Iridian victories during the war, even while being outgunned and outmaned most of the time, and is hailed as a hero due to his brave actions. Since the war he has remained a faithful member of the house of Lords, being very interested in Politics, and wanting to do his nation good. He is also a die-hard monarchist, who will defend the right of the Emperor and his family to the death. Lord Arthur also has a wife, Lady Katherine (Born 162), who Arthur is very devoted to, they have four children, three boys, and one daughter. All his sons are in the military, and his firstborn, Henry, seems to have the same level of skill and valor as his father.

As a leading noble on the Island of Kusma and owner of a sizable company involved in the manufacture of arms, Allaire was immediately against the taxes imposed on the island to rebuild the fleet. Although instead of simply being disgruntled over an unfair tax- he took the imposed tax as a sign of tyranny and began a petition to the imperial court and led a call within the House of Lords to end the tax and to hold a vote on the matter.

He gathered with fellow merchants and noblemen who were also against the illegal taxes and after their calls fell on the death ears of an Emperor unkind to his people, he moved that they plead to the same people directly. The various nobles and merchantmen gathered agreed with his conclusion and they quickly brought together large crowds of support for the cause under the cry of, 'No Taxation Without Representation!'

However, the community leaders were described by the imperial court as being, "Rabble-rousers", "Traitors", and "Rebels". With warrants for arrest being issued against the members of the gathering with the only chance of 'redemption' being that they renounce their calls to the people for protest. The Emperor himself had set out with his imperial army to arrest the good men and women of Kusma for their peaceful protest. Clovis Allaire did indeed stop calling for protest by the people, instead he began to call for open rebellion against the 'illegal seizure of popular sovereignty and breach of electoral privilege!'

Clovis Allaire was quickly proclaimed 'Protector of the People' and the rebellion quickly got underway with the rag-tag volunteer army being issued weaponry from Utican Empire and from his own company's manufacture. There in the opening days of the rebellion, the Allaire Rifle made its name in history as a dependable firearm, in fact when the revolutionary marksman fell the Tyrant-Emperor in battle, it was with an Allaire Rifle.

Biography: The Oraweis family is an old and highly respected clan, based on the isle of Novers, which they once ruled. Following the abolishment of serfdom nearly a century ago, and the great reduction of noble power, the Oraweis family suffered greatly. Though maintaining their lavish palace, they lost more and more wealth without their holdings, and much of their finery had to be quietly sold off. Harild Ferin la Oraweis attempted to restore his family's wealth by turning to investment and speculation, which he was fairly successful at, forming the Oraweis Bank in 189 IC. He died from illness just over ten years ago, leaving his bank and ranks to his only child, Liane Gesila le Oraweis. Born in 183 IC, she has spent most of her adult life running the Oraweis Bank, and refused the advances of many suitors, fearing they would attempt to wrest control of her family significant fortune away from her. And her suitors have not been few, with her beauty being widely acknowledged through the whole empire. There are several members of the Oraweis extended family who frown on her refusal to marry, while others accept it with glee, hoping her wealth and influence would pass to them if she died without issue.

The Duchess herself cares little for matters of succession, more concerned with the immediate world, and her bank's investments. While sympathetic to the reasons behind the Kusma revolt, she has remained loyal to the Empire, though the death of Emperor Emiliano V has given her pause regarding her continued support. She currently resides within the capital, to be near the economic center of the Empire, though the Oraweis estate is still maintained in her name on Novers. She is a member of the Orders of the Golden Collar, the Silver Star, and the White Sash.

Biography: The Fitzgeralds were initially an unknown, virtually non-existant family in the eyes of common nobility until Emmett Fitzgerald, one of the many colonels in the Imperial Army, solidified his family's legacy for decades to come when he lead the charge during one of Iridia's only major victories against the Uticans in the Zarmir War. Emmett and his family were awarded with the Barony of Fitzgerald by the Emperor, allowing the Fitzgeralds to catapult into nobility status and finally having a proper voice in the halls of the Iridian Empire.

Oliver was raised in such a fortunate environment, with his family raising and rearing him in the art of warfare. Once he reached his majority, he immediately joined the Imperial Army and was appointed as a lieutenant colonel after only three years of service. Nowadays at the tender age of 30, Fitzgerald seeks greater ambitions and wishes to eventually prove to the Emperor that the Army is far superior than any Navy that the nation can muster by any means.

Fitzgerald secretly sides with the rebels in the Kusma Revolt, believing in the establishment of a fair and true republic above the ashes of the old and outdated Iridian Empire.

Biography: Edward Albert II was born the 12th of March in 155 to his father, Lord Edward Albert, Earl of Shrewsbury, as the first-born son out of a family of five. His old man was an influential person in the house of Lords and was Minister of Foreign Affairs from 146-150, 156-160 and 163-170 and Minister of Finance from 175-179 when he died at the age of 84. Even though his father wanted Edward to get a place in the house of lord he hated it and left a year later and joined the Imperial Navy Officer Academy to become an officer in the proud navy. When he was done and he became a Lieutenant Commander from the beginning largely due to his father's connections. He became a hero during the Dark Decades when he defeated the Revolutionary Fleet and captured many of their officers. During the decades he rose to the rank of Vice admiral in the end. During the Zamir war he rose to the rank of Admiral and was granted the command of the Central Fleet.
When he was 27 he was married to daughter of a rich nobleman to fill the coffers of his rash father. Even though the marriage was not harmonic they worked hard to prevent a divorce and Lady Edith died in 208 of Pneumonia after what many described as a succesful marrige that left 3 children. After that he married a distant family member he had met a few years prior his wife's death and whom he fell in love with.
Lady Anna is a fashionable young woman who loves the newest fashion and use, what some would call, horrendous amounts of money on clothing but the Admiral is very calm about it.

Biography: One of the younger brothers of the late Emperor Emiliano V. With two elder brothers, he was not expected to ever be Emperor. While not cared for by his father, he was left to his own devices. He loved reading books and pretending war by himself, but was mostly quiet around others, except for his twin brothers, both of whom he admired deeply. His early years were spent in happiness and content. During this time he befriended a person at the royal court, Bethany Konrad.

When he was five years old, the famous elderly General Marrian Konrad, a decorated hero from the Lagus War and crusher of revolts in the Dark Decades, and also the grandfather of his friend Bethany, took him under his wing. He taught Stannis a firm sense of loyalty, duty and honor, and the importance of them in the military. From then on, he knew he wanted to join the military. General Marrian only lived till he was eight years old, leaving him broken and resentful. After a period of this, however, he realized his duty to the crown and country, and continued his studies. He became quiet and serious, only really opening up to his brothers and to his friend Bethany.

Two years later, with his father's permission, he began a long five year trip to travel around the world, spending time in foreign courts, learning new customs and languages, while continuing his studies, and frequently corresponding with his brothers and friend Bethany. This experience profoundly changed him. While still being serious, he learned how to talk to people, make deals, foster discussion. He learned the art of masterful speech, on a private scale. He was definitely not an orator. But when he came back he was fifteen years old. Now finished with his studies, he entered the military as a simple lieutenant.

He was not the only one to have changed. While he had been corresponding with Bethany frequently during his travels, he came back to find that he had different feelings for her than before. She reciprocated these feelings, and soon they were married, both at the age of sixteen years. This act stunned the Imperial Court. While his father paid little heed to his third born son, and allowed the marriage, and Bethany's noble status, several members of the court were outraged that he had been able to marry of his own accord, and that a diplomatic marriage could have had some political advantage- and also, he was too young to marry, right? Stannis paid them no heed.

But the same people would soon be shocked at the change in Stannis. He became happier again, and began to smile more publicly, and rose in the ranks of the military. His loving relationship with his wife would bear much fruit. He would have a total of eight children who survived to adulthood, six sons and two daughters, Stannis(21), Marrian(19), Maximillian(18), Emiliano(16), Victor(12), Bethany(12), Maria(10) and Harold(4). His wife would have three miscarriages and two daughters who did not survive past infancy, much to his dismay, and the loss stuck him deep. Still, he loved his family dearly, and also loved his brother's children, treating them as well as his own.

Meanwhile, he continued to climb through the military, and found himself not too long later in a war. At the rank of major, and at the age of twenty-three he lead his forces into battle in the Zarmir War, alongside his brother, now the Emperor. Mocked by other commanders as a "royal weakling" only put in his position because of his birth, he would shock them by his command. The war proved to be a disaster on the large scale, but Stannis's unit, known as the Iron Stags, would prove to be a strong and capable fighting force. Stannis himself rode into the thick of combat, encouraging his men, and not fearing to take his sword out to slay the enemy. He impressed his men by sleeping in the same conditions that they did, eating the same food, and riding into battle with them, earning their respect and devotion.

Despite the small victories the Iron Stags won in the war, the war itself was a disaster. During the largest battle of the war, when a unit was trapped, surrounded by enemies, and close to destruction, Stannis disobeyed orders and charged with the Iron Stags through the bloody fighting, breaking through the lines and the encirclement, rescuing many of the surrounded men. However, the victory came at great cost, and Stannis himself was wounded and later in the day knocked off his horse. He continued fighting, but it soon became clear that the battle was lost. While most of the army cut and ran, Stannis and his unit kept on fighting on until he was ordered to retreat. For his actions, the Emperor gave Stannis the Bulwark of Nir, and awarded him both the Order of the Silver Star and the Order of the Golden Collar. When he saw his wounds, Stannis asked to be taken to a common field hospital, however the Emperor would have none of it, and quickly fetched a personal doctor to tend to the wounds.

Soon enough, the war was over. He returned home to find the House of Lords had approved of his Bulwark of Nir award. He was granted leave to spend time and recover from his wounds, which were not too serious, and he soon recovered. He was soon promoted to Colonel, which disappointed him because he had to relinquish command of his beloved unit. Given the command of a garrison, he could spend time with his wife and children. He always took delight in his children and nieces and nephews, and spent his leave time spending time with his family in the Imperial Palace. He wanted the best for his children, and tried to provide them with a good education, and tried to take care of them as best as possible.

His eldest son Stannis is a spitting image of his father, a twenty-one year old military lieutenant whom is serious and, admiring his father greatly, tries to be like him as much as he can. His son Marrian joined the Imperial Navy instead, and to his father's dismay has a drinking problem. His son Maximillian is an aspiring diplomat, who like his father has traveled the globe and is an easy, outgoing and charming man, and gets along with everyone. The shy Emiliano is the scholar, who rarely takes his nose out of his books. The identical twins, Bethany and Victor, get along very well, and are the troublemakers of the family. Maria is quiet and gentle, with a very vivid imagination that she uses to keep herself occupied. After Maria, two of the miscarriages and two daughters who died in infancy seemed to indicate that Bethany would not have anymore children. However, six years after Maria was born, Bethany gave birth to a sickly boy, named Harold.

After twelve years of peace war finally erupted again, and Stannis was called with his force to war again, against enemies of the crown. This he gladly accepted, and left his family to fight for the crown. However, on the eve of battle, he was horrified to learn that his brother was shot by a sharpshooter, and dead. He was summoned back to the Imperial Palace, to arrive to support his nephew and see what he could do to help the new Emperor through these difficult times.

Biography: Born to the King of Mir, Allison was the youngest child of King Richard Greymarsh and Queen Veronica de Valois of Nar. Her two older brothers, Issac, the first born son and heir to the throne, and Harold, the spare, were complete opposites. It was obvious from an early age that Harold was not going to be content to with his position. Seeing this, King Richard sent Harold to a military academy for most of his childhood.

During her Childhood, Allison and Issac were good friends. Issac, while not perfect, did generally care for others, and had the makings of a good ruler.

Allison ended up betrothed to a local noble at 18, and was married at a private ceremony. However, during the reception, Harold left the room and the door were locked. Suddenly, the musicians pull out firearms and started to slaughter the guests. In the chaos, Allison's Husband, King Richard, Queen Veronica, and her brother, Prince Issac.

She managed to survive by playing dead, and then running like hell out of the city. She managed to commander a vessel in the harbor, and steered towards the empire, trying to get get as far away from Mir as possible.

Prince Harold was made King Harold, and the city-state was now under his control. Allison has spent the last 10 years hardening and planning to exact her revenge, make Harold pay for his crimes and take the throne of Mir for herself.

Biography: A rising industrialist and politician Abraham Millikan was one of the leading forces behind the Kusma revolt and most accurately represents the interests of the merchant class in the rebellion. The son of a independent trade, Abraham watched as his father lived as though he was an incredibly wealth spending lavishly, while in reality he was barely to pay for the single small trade vessel he own. Eventually his father went bankrupt and Abraham and the rest of his family was lived in poverty for much of his early life. When he came of age Abraham decided to join the Imperial navy. There he discovered his innate strategic mindset and eventually rose the rank of captain. However during his time as a captain he received several unimportant and forgettable, and was often passed over for promotions in favor of up start noblemen. Eventually he had enough and left the navy, now going in business. Here he thrived, have both an effective business mindset, and an intense desire not to end up like his father. Eventually he established a near total monopoly on trade coming in and out of Kusma.

When the Empire sought to impose substantial tax increases on the Island, himself and several like minded businessmen felt their own ventures where threatened by this. He sought this as opportunity to gain even more power and influence both on Kusma and abroad. Forming an alliance and between other disgruntled merchants and nobility , then gaining the support of Utican via several business contacts, they managed to whip up anti-imperial sentiment on the island, and declared a republic.

Biography:
Heliodorus was never intended to exist. The son of John Caldwell, a lesser noble known for his horse-breeding enterprise, and a domestic servant named Julia, the latter died shortly after Heliodorus’ birth. He entered the world ignored by his father and hated by his adoptive mother and siblings. Heliodorus was savagely bullied throughout his childhood, and he could only find friends in the servants and stable boys.

However, the death of Heliodorus’ older half-brother in a hunting accident saw an improvement to the poor boy’s life. His father, although unable to legitimize his only son, was forced to recognize Heliodorus’ existence and sent him to a cavalry school on Iridia Island, along with granting the boy a small estate and a handful of horses. In 212 IC, Heliodorus has just finished his schooling, and is a newly-minted Lieutenant of the 8th Imperial Dragoons. While a competent commander and a skillful horseman, Heliodorus is quite reckless and prone to committing extreme acts of valor on the battlefield, many of which see great danger befalling him and the soldiers under his command.

Bio: Durham is a cousin of a King of Kaldosia, brother to the previous, uncle of the one before that, grandson of the one before that, etc. Born in the capital of Kaldosia, was quickly moved to a strengthened capital ship by his father's men to ensure survival. He witnessed his father's final charge against the current King, from the safety of the ship, and saw his father's men slaughtered. The King allowed the now orphaned pretender a stay at court under his protection until he came of age. He moved to Iridia at the age of 20 to gain support and avoid death by family. He joined the navy and has offered that if he gains the throne of Kaldosia, with the aid of the empire, he will submit and become a vassal. It has been 10 years and many Kaldosian kings, he no longer remembers his relation the current, he gave up 5 kings after he left, since, he has proven a capable commander, but only time will tell what shall become of him. He is married to his childhood sweetheart Emalia Sondus, age 29 and who is a distant, distant cousin. They have yet to have children.

His father took him in as a squire, where he first learned his niche for warfare. Stephen officially became part of the military at the tender age of 14 (no doubt do to some prodding from his father). Since then, Stephen has continued his military career, serving faithfully as Major for 6 years, when he inherited his title from his father, his two brothers being thrown off a cliff in a carriage. While Harwick seems cool and collected from the outside, inside he feels extreme stress from the expectations placed upon him due to his lineage, which he lets out in whorehouses near his station.

Bio:

Born to a merchant family of moderate means in Kuril, Friedrich studied economics at Fairwright University and quickly found himself drawn to radical politics. Along with several others at his university, he was one of the initial members of the Fairwright Circle, a group of republican intellectuals who advocated for restructuring of both the economy and political system. Playing off liberal sentiments in Kuril City, he got himself elected mayor at the tender age of 26, utilizing the connections of both his family and his university to take office after the departing mayor retired due to old age. Even before the Kusman Revolution, Friedrich was often in trouble with Imperial authorities, supporting commoners and laborers against the Imperial elite in civil and criminal cases as well as in taxation. His most famous work, On Capital, became the rallying document of the radical wing of the republican movement. Capital called for a democratic organization of the economy around cooperative management by the working class. When the Kusman Revolution came, Friedrich of course was a member of the provisional government and the chief voice of the radical republicans. He is distrusted somewhat by the more elitist and industrialist portions of the rebellion, but has a very large popular following. In addition, his grasp of economics and politics from his time serving as mayor has made him an adept organizer, ready to defend his homeland from tyranny as best he can.

The Beginning of a New Era!


The Zarmir war, fought between 197 -200 IC was a disaster for our empire, we lost over thirty thousand men and near fifty warships, and what did we obtain? Only humiliation and the beginning of a chain of events that would lead to a death Emperor.

The true reasons of the war are most likely the objective to control the only other trade rout of Lahore, if the empire took Zarmir then the Utican Empire and their trading companies would be forced to rely upon Iridia for the obtention of Lahore fine goods, increasing our power over them and the fortunes of many merchants.

Our emperor, our steemed emperor, was tricked i say by the merchants and many nobles to launch the war, with promises of riches and glories. Everyone knew our emperor had missed the wars of the dark decade, and was growing old without a victory under his belt, something that drove him mad every time someone mentioned the great expansions of the past. Lured by this against the wishes of the majority of the house of lords, the emperor as is his right declared war upon Utica over a series of small incidents with Iridian merchant vessels.

At first it would go well for the empire, caught by surprise the utican navy in the island was unprepared for the attack and defeated soundly in their attempt to slow down the landing of the reluctant forces of the imperial army.

The Zarmir garrison at Soris was defeated after 4 hours naval bombardment and combat of the city, gloriously being conquered by our men!. From there on things got..difficult. Lagus refused to fight the Utican navy which let them to do attacks on the supply lines. The garrison in Miras city was underestimated and the Utican population of the island took to fight guerrilla upon our forces. Crossing the forested and mountainous range in the middle of the country was difficult, the terrain did not cooperated, and winter came early upon the island. Thousands died unprepared for the conditions as supplies were hurried up. Then came the siege of Miras, the city with some 250,000 inhabitants was protected by a determined garrison and ditches. Our navy was unable to help as the double forts in the entrance blocked them.

Lord Field-Marshal Pierre Marcel Ordered to take them out, however now is taught was unnecessary and the city could have been taken out without the need of the navy. The forts siege was bloody, made to resist this kind of attacks and in the middle of winter, hundreds more died of hypothermia and other diseases wet and full of mud. However both were captured then the navy began their attack upon the city.

The city burned as was attacked, yet the Utican navy arrived, lagus ships had failed to keep track of it, and they cornered our naval forces inside the ports destroying them as thousands of soldiers landed under our most desperate defence. From there was a retreating battle, the moral was collapsing and thousands surrendered, instead of fighting.

Utican would invade dunwell in revenge and begin massing forces in the border with lagus, The emperor was furious and began fighting with the nobles, a relief fleet was sent and hit by a strom, showing not even Romelia was with us, over fifteen ships sunk on it and thousands death, signifying the end of political will to fight anymore, both sides then declared a truce and carry in negotiations for a peace agreement. In the end near fifty ships were lost and thirty thousand men died.

The debt of the war, paying the reparations agreed, the cost of financing the one year with almost seventy thousand men and almost a hundred ships was ruinous, when added to the damage to trait, the state had to take considerable loans to finance it. Not many years later our emperor would be enamoured by those inventors with a wonder, a railroad from the imperial city of Iridia to the small recreative town of Razir one loved by the nobles and the emperor himself...it would cost an enormous amount of money, using the funds to rebuild the lost forces on it!.

In the end mad over the lose of its forces, shamed by defeat and blaming the merchants that convinced him to go to war, it was decided a new round of taxation would be created, especially upon kusma merchants, many of the instigators being from there. This lead to rebellion financed and supported by Utican by the greedy men and woman of the island, using republican ideals though only found in the west!

The emperor, wary of the nobles decided to go wit the army himself!, it is rumored after a series of fights between the emperor and the Lord-Field mArshall leading the expedition, he resigned and let the emperor take control, some rumor it was a set up to blame defeat upon the emperor. Ou valiant emperor would lead to several small victories upon the rebels but when definite confrontation was ahead, a cursed sharpshooter hit him square on the chest!, the army would retreat and rout back to Vick fort meanwhile the emperor agonized for an entire week before passing.

Now we murn him, yet we must quickly organize the defense of all that is right and proper, In kusma the traitors already attemp to rally more people to their fake cause!. We mjust move quickly for many still disagree with their actions and are loyal to our lands...but for how long will the evil demons allow them to defy their fake ideology?? We must act before is too late for those souls!.

As such the House of Lords have called to extraordinary meeting to elect a regent for the young prince!. A new Lord Field Marshall is needed too, for we have a war to fight, all nobles wherever they are are called to make haste and join the session, in what is going to be one of the biggest sessions of the decade!.

(The House of Lords call to session, to all nobles to elect a new reagent for the young monarch!, the House will elect to a new Lord field marshal a much desired position for military men!. Any noble can nominate himself or someone else for the regent position, and defend why he must become it, at the same time any noble officer or not can be nominated for the Lord field Marshal position.

When most pc players have voted or by wednesday/thursday i shall close the session and name our new lord field marshall and Regent! At same time any other preposition will be heard! related or not!
