Girl in distress! Help! I'm just now having problems about 200 years into the game. It has suddenly started crashing and is a bit choppy. I've done the suggestions posted (16 bit, changing file name, closing all programs). Updated the drivers, I have windows xp, p4. I guess the NA version is 104a, so I don't need to patch??? I'm very sad, I was kicking ass as the king of scotland. Please I would appreciate any suggestions, but please dumb down the tech stuff for me, I'm not very computer savy.

Welcome to the forums :)

you will see version number in upper right(left?) corner. If you dont have 104a you must install patch.

If you have version 104a, try and reinstall CK. Remember to copy your savegames.


Take a look in the bug forum, maybe some others have the same problem there.
 
I see that it does have 1.04a in the top corner. Never noticed that. So I must have the newest version. This is all very wierd... It was playing fine for at least a good 40 hours then, out of nowhere, it crashed at a auto-save and now it crashes all the time, no matter what I do. I was really enjoying the game and now I'm sad.
I've looked through the other posts and tried a bunch of things, with no avail. I'll try reinstalling it. thanks for answering my post!

Where can I get this "beta patch"? Can someone give me a link? I didn't see it on the patch site.
I'm still having problems even after reinstalling the game, could it be that my save games are now corrupted somehow? I'm so sad. This game is soooo much fun to play when it is working. I'm going to go cry now.

Sorry for not getting to this earlier, I was off yesterday.

Yes it sounds like the save became corrupt, so making my regular 3 changes will not help that but may prevent future problems.

It could have been a bug or it could have been your system that caused the problem.

So get the latest version to help with bugs and follow the 3 things I recommend to help with system problems.
