Game Freezes Every In-Game Day

The exact time changes every time I load the game, but every in-game day, it freezes for a good solid minute. Needless to say, this makes game play a hell of a lot slower and thoroughly annoying. It started when I invaded Russia and the machine suddenly had to work harder, but it's continued even into a period of relative inactivity.

im having the same prob with armagddon. it starts in 1940 with it freezing for about a second every day. by 47 its freezing for half an hr twice a day then completly freezing. cant even move the pointer to exit the game. also a fleet of 30 ships sank due to lack of supplies an hr after leaving port. another fleet of 30 got sunk by 1 dd. also how can i reg the game? i got HOI2 complete which has HOI2, doomsday and armageddon. from a shop new and sealed. there isnt a manual or reg code. the manual is on the disk but the reg code isnt there. HOI2 works ok its the expansions that dont. their even worse than HOI3.
 
As far as I know, Anthology was the only version of HOI2/DD/ARMA that had a code - you don't need to be registered to use this tech forum, though.

There is a bug where the AI produces thousands of empty 'ghost fleets' - this slows the game down considerably. It's fixed by the Armageddon 1.3 beta 2 patch.

i tried the patch but the game wouldnt start afterwards. all i got was error in DB. had to reinstall the game to get it working again. now i have a major prob. italion units keep appering in africa in my provinces. there to far from the coast for invasion and there not para units. my entire army in africa got destroyed when that happened. as all but 2 divs were in africa i now have no army. all the commonwealth divs also got destroyed. so now all thats left is 2 inf divs 90 ships and 20 aircraft to fight the axis. i lost 100 divs in africa. they didnt even get a chance to fight. ive got HOI2 1.0 DD/arm 1.0 HOI3 1.0. only HOI3 is working the way it should. all the patches ive tried make them unplayable or not work at all. ive read all the HOI3 probs but i dont get any bugs at all untill i get the patch.

The 'Error in DB' message and the other problems indicate the game is not installed correctly.

Also you should make sure the checksum (four letter code in the top right hand corner when you start the game) is correct - otherwise problems are pretty well guaranteed.

If you have Vista/Win7, don't install into C:\Program files

The way to install Armageddon (assuming you don't have Anthology) :

- install Doomsday first into a folder, say c:\doomsday

- install Armageddon into the same folder, overwriting the existing files.

- extract the Armageddon 1.3beta2 patch into the same folder, again overwriting files. Note - it *must* overwrite files, otherwise it won't work.

- Run Armageddon and make the checksum is correct - PHVR
 
Do you know how you go about installing the patch on the Steam version?

EDIT: No need to answer. It was very straightforward. Just follow the official installation instructions and it works perfectly.

ive sorted the freezing prob. i uninstalled and reinstalled. but now the game wont go past 00.00 1st jan 55. the clock stops but units still keep taking supplies. but as no supplies r being produced they soon run out and get destroyed. i deleted the folder after i uninstalled but thesaved games r still there. tried playing brazil cause uk and italy dont work properly. everything was going fine. was about to declare war on the usa when the clock stopped. i control everything south of the USA border. as germany and japan r still fighting and d-day didnt happen plus SU declared war on the allies in 41 and germany didnt go to war with SU it looks a diff world. UK declared war on germany in 38. as it stands the allies r at war with every country not in the allies. germany annexed vichy france in 44. mainland UK is the only place that germany doesnt control in western euroupe. but they do have ireland. i formed my own allience with some countries i liberated after i annexed them.
 
ive followed the instrutions for installing dd. the checksum is MOVX. tried the 1.3beta2 patch but i get the error msg file corrupt when i try to install it. then when i try to start the game it says error in DB. the game i got is HOI2 collection. its got HOI2. HOI2 dd and armageddon. i uninstalled HOI2 to see if its a conflict but it doesnt make any diff. tried downloading the patch 4 times but get the same error every time.
 
I haven't heard of that particular checksum before.

Have you tried uninstalling everything, then just install Doomsday, followed by Armageddon over the top of it.

Don't install Hoi2 or any patches, just check if it runs properly and see what checksum you get. With vanilla Armageddon 1.1 it should be GKCW

If you're not getting the correct checksum on a basic installation then the patches aren't going to work.
 
i cant reinstall. i uninstalled but when i try to reinstall all i get is repair or remove options. tried remove but that gives me an error msg saying install wizard has stopped working. tried it 30+ times. repiar only puts the folder back on and nothing else. had the same prob last time i tried the 1.3beta2 patch. the only way i could get it sorted was to format my hard drive and reinstall windows7. but had to do that anyway cause windows updates put a trojan on my pc and stopped everything working. my new anti virus found them and cleaned them out. my old anti virus didnt spot them. im back t playing the original HOI2 cause it works but not properly. it worked fine on win 2000 but its full of bugs and errors on win7. but HOI3 1.0 works perfect on win7 no bugs. but when i put the 1.3 patch on i get nothing but bugs. so think its the os not the game thats causing the probs.
 
ive just spent hrs going through every folder in windows 7 registry. cant find anything to do with paradox games. ive got HOI2 HOI3 and EU 1 2 and 3 on my pc but no registry entries for any of them. so cant find the 1 for dd to try to fix the prob. getting a reg cleaner next week to see if that can find and fix it. if not the only thing left is yet another system restore. that will be 4 times in the 2 months ive had my pc.never had any probs on previous versions of windows only win 7. its very unstable and not very user freindly. trying to work out how to get rid of win 7 and go back to win 98ME. never had any trouble with that in the 10 yrs i used it. all games worked fine. on win 7 every program stops working even those that came preinstalled.
 
reg cleaner found and removed doomsday entry but it keeps going back in. i found a doomsday file on my pc but i cant remove it uninstall wont take it off no delete option. its just an empty file that i cant get rid of. cant get dd back on my pc cause of that file. it only shows when i use the uninstall program on win7 its not anywhwere else on the pc. so whatever it is its stopped dd working. i ran reg cleaner 5 times and each time it found an entry for doomsday and removed it. but it just went straight back in so think its a virus or trojan. it only did that after i got the 1.3b2 patch.
 
I keep a copy of the 1.3 beta 2 patch on my PC and AVG hasn't found a problem with it.

Have you tried one of the freeware aftermarket registry cleaners such as CC Cleaner or Revo ?

If you are using a digital download version of DD & Arma from either Steam or Direct2Drive have you checked their technical forums ?
 
ok all fixed at last. the prob is the installshield wizard kept the file on my pc. it wont uninstall or delete using win 7 tools but i found Ccleaner on the web and tried that. it allowed me to delete the file. now i got dd installed again. ive got the game on a dvd i bought from a shop. maybe i need to get an older patch 1st and try that then work through all the patches till i get it upto date. maybe get 1.1 1st that should then get the right checksum to add the next patch. all i got to do is hunt around the forum and hopefully find a link to the older patches.
 
If you've got the disc version then after installing you can make a backup copy of the entire game to another folder and apply the patch(es) on the backup copy.

That way if there are problems you just delete the backup and start again :)

Also Armageddon installed from a disc should be either 1.0 or 1.1. In either case you could try the 1.2 patch first.
 
i found the 1.1 patch but when i tried to extract it it said its corupt just like all the other patches i tried. i tried the one from gamersgate, gamershell and a few others. the only patch ive been able to get is 1.3 for HOI3 but that made the game unplayable. with that patch the AI invited every country into my faction only for them to surreneder and get annexed within an hr of them joining. even the USA got annexed by italy an hr after joining the allies. think ill stick to 1.0 in all my HOI games. cant get any patches to work. im susprised that dd/arm is 1.0 since i only bought it new in december.
 
i found the arm 1.2 patch on game zone it installed and the game works. but it says 1.2 in properties but 1.0 with the old checksum when i start the game. from what ive senn on other sites 1.3b2 is for dd not arm. i saw the 1.3b2 patch but it was dd only. the newest patch for arm i could find was 1.2. cant get any of the patches in the links on here to work. they all come up as corrupt.

The 1.3b2 patch is for Armageddon - it's file name is Armageddon 1.3 beta 2 - 24.04.09 - PHVR.rar so it's not for Doomsday. The last patch for Doomsday is 1.3A.

Exactly which of the three games (Hoi2/Doomsday/Armageddon) are you installing, and in what order ?

I've downloaded a few patches from here without a problem. If you're not already using one, I suggest trying a download manager.
 
doomsday is the stand alone version so i installed that 1st then arm as its the expansion for dd. i tried it with and without the origanal HOI2 but still cant get patches to install. plus arm wont go past 00.00 01.01.55. the clock just stops. ive reinstalled it several times but still the same prob. setting up a new folder dont work cause windows 7 just moves it into program files x86 as soon as the game has finished being installed. i grab the folder and drag it back out but it just gets put straight back in after a few mins. the folder name stays the same but win 7 creates a paradox interactive folder and puts all paradox games in there even when i create a diff folder and install to that. it does the same with all games. all the total war set go into 1 folder as well. it files games by develpers name. even the backup coppies i made all got put into the same folder. i even tried putting them in a partion but they got moved out again. ive been using windows since 3.1 and never had these probs before. ive even tried an external hard drive with an older version of windows but 7 will format it and install itself on that drive without even asking. the HOI games r the only games i can get to work. but none work the way they did on older windows. i played HOI2 on win 2000 for yrs with no probs or bugs. but on win7 i get loads of bugs. but HOI3 1.0 doesnt have any bugs at all till i got the 1.3 patch then it was nothing but bugs. so has do be the way win 7 works.

Okay do this

1. Uninstall HOI2 DD.
2. Install HOI2 DD in the following folder (during the install it asks you where to install -- put it here -- C:\games\hoi2dd).
3. Install Armageddon on top of the folder in 2 above.
4. Verify that Armageddon is installed by running the game.. you should get a nice Armageddon graphic.
5. Then install the 1.3 beta patch on top of the directory in 2 above.

Document what you see in every step above.
