It would be enough to scale pop growth accordingly. In DW and especially in Gal Civ II you have trillions of people after a few decades, starting with a population of only a few billions.
Clone creches, rapid maturation therapy and direct neural interface downloads!
Who wants to take care of a child for 18 friggin years when you can just plug them into a creche and have an adult you can drink and be friends with in a couple of months!
So you don't have problems with intergalactic human empires? That racist!Realism? We're talking about intergalactic mollusc empires and we're wondering about realism?
Realism ? No. It's about consistency and likelihood. Just like in sci fi movies and books.
Any realism is a space opera is destined to be obsolete very quickly anyway.
It means that the devs are free to put a lot of things in their game, but the explanation "it's just a game, bruh" is never a good explanation. Everything has to be justified in game. The limit is imagination.
