Alright. I think the best thing to do given how I don't have the original save game, CK3 has been out for years now, and I don't want to drag this (finished) AAR thread around continously half-alive for another year...

Ok. Basically, the thing to do I think is a reboot or a proper sequel. Ged's X (name pending), a new game of CK3 utilising all rhe new additions and craziness therein, deliberately built from the ground up to continue into EUIV etc.

The later parts of the mega campaign still keep the spirit of 'first impressions of this game I don't know how to play' but it also allows everyone to have a relect on CK3 and what's gone on over the past few years.

It's a bit disappointing that I can't carry on with the OG timeline...but I'd have to recreate it perfectly and pretend that it was the same thing anyway, which seems disingenuous.
I like it. "Ged's Return" perhaps.

Well the overall mega campaign is going to be something along the lines of Ged's Universal Horror, so using and aping Horror movie sequel titles is apt for each AAR part.

In tangentially related news, our latest guide dog is in fact called Ged.

That is all.

Irish Setter?

Hopefully not an Irish Water Spaniel, just in case it keeps trying to lead you into the sea before vanishing.

No...some crazed retriever labradour cross. Big, fluffy and daft. Which is...not a great foundation for guiding the blind. We'll get there.

For guiding them into the sea on the other hand...

The Irish do not need help with that.

One benefit of ck3 rather than ck2 is that ships don't exist at all, not even for transport, as a separate unit. So this new run will presumably still have lots of people walking into the sea at random, especially in and around Ireland. The dev team I guess really wanted the graphic of the ship to come in only after the army completed moving onto the sea tile.

Oh, also I am steaming through Ged's run of CK3. Will stop when he meets his inevitable demise and write it up, then play some more.

I had some doubts about starting this up again but so far two golden lights have shone from the game thus far.

1. They've added more tutorial stuff.
2. There is a (potentially on purpose/potentially not) running gag already and it's only been 10 years.

Will you be using Vic2 or Vic3 for the step of the mega-campaign?

That has yet to be determined, however by the time we get there Vick3 will hopefully be fully stabilised and operational...so I see no reason to not keep the trend of the 'current' paradox headliners I'm trying for the first time.

If for any reason it's impossible to convert, or 3 becomes terrible in between now and then, I've never really played 2 either so it would still be first impression/tutorial game, keeping that theme up.

The Eu4->Vic3 converter does work, the Vic3->Hoi4 is not isn't quite there yet

HOI4 is a bit of a nonentity for mega campaigns of this type. Unless it's at the stage where we have a world split in half and a final ultimate showdown to do, it'll bascially just be a conclusion to the AAR in broad strokes. Then stellaris is the post script season of madness where nothing before it is strictly relevant but informs the background of the space Irish regardless

This will come up in the AAR after the death of Ged, and the write up of his life (part one of the AAR), but anyone who wants to get in on the action early...

I have a whole bunch of duchies and kingdoms that are/will be in the Irish empire by the time Ged dies. Readers and commentors may have one each to name, either after themsevles or a other suggested name.

The only except is @DensleyBlair, who will have two, if only because the Duchy of Blairington took on such a meme status last time round that its going to be the name for Deheubarth (south wales) no matter what.

The current list partway through Ged's life is:
...
Duchies -

Munster
Connacht
Ulster
Meath
Lennister
East anglia
Mercia
Cornwall
Gwynedd
Powys
Isle of man
Strathclyde
...
Kingdoms -

Ireland
Wales
...
Middlesex and Deheubarth have already got their new names assigned.
...

Again, the oppuritnity will come up again during the AAR, and whenever we conquered somewhere new. But if anyone wants to get in early whilst Ged is still alive and killing, now is the time.

SunnyMan Island?
SummerSun Isle?
Sunsteel Land?
Summerisle obviously. I hear it's famed for it's wood weaving crafts.

I contribute a name for somewhere else but I can't think of anything in keeping with the spirit of the game.
