Anyways I was asking about Air Superiority as a question to whether you can achieve it across the Channel to catch the STRATs there and destoy their runways. It was an "offensive defensive idea" :)

Hmm, yes that might be possible. I wonder what kind of damage the english AA-guns and radarstation can do to such offensive?

Statistics

Some statistics information of the german armed forces.

I think I read in the strategy guide, that you have to occupy one home province of that country to make it break. So all the strategic warfare will not amount to much, if you can't make it on the island.

But then again ... maybe you could slowly wear their navy down while your subs and tac bombers deprive them of ressources.

The war continues

Belgium apperently didn´t like the german attacks on the Netherlands and on France and decided to mobilize it´s army.

HoI3_40-1.jpg

And on the sea on of the first battles occurd. Forces from the Royal Navy manage to find and engage a german taskforce that tried to sink finish convoys.
The Kriegsmarine did officialy win the battle, but the loses was heavy. Deutchland, Admiral Scheer and Nürnberg was lost. And it would take many moth for the Kregsmarine to recover.*

*Advice: Remember to change your pop-ups, so you notice when a naval battle starts. :eek:o

In the lowlands the german advance continued. Some dutch divisions had been encicled and destroyed, the rest of them was retreating towards the coust.

The first stage of the invasion of France worked pretty much as planed. The french forces was beaten back. And the door was surley kicked in.

A New front

In France the war continued

HoI3_44.jpg

The german forces continued gaining ground and closed in to the mainland of France. The main french force was still in the Maginot area, but they slowly redeployed and tried to counter the german offensive to the south.
But now it was time for the second stage.

HoI3_47.jpg

German decleared war on Belgium and Luxemburg.

HoI3_49.jpg

Luxemburg didn´t put up much of a fight and was soon annexed and therefor a part of the german Reich.

HoI3_45.jpg

In the east the japanese controll of Formosa was soon to be end. Chinese forces invaded the island and the japanese was after a month forced to retreat. That was a hugh blow to Japans imperialistic ambitions.

Well, good news on the French front it seems! You're overrunning them pretty handily. The Kriegsmarine was handled a bit roughly though, that was definitely a Pyrrhic victory.

Poor Japan. And silly Belgians. They have that notion having a common border with Nazis means you could be invaded anytime. You wouldn't have invaded had they not mobilized, would you? :p

It looks less and less like a frontline on the French front. Do you have large enough stacks to exploit the holes in the lines?

You're making good progress :)

Yeah, that was just stupid of me. I had them in the Baltic trying to sink convoys, and then I didn´t notice thet were engaged.
But it´s is good to see, from a gameplay point of view, that the AI didn´t like that I sunk convoys :)

Yes of course, Germany can´t have armed forces threatening it´s borders. The silly Belgians can only blame themselves. ;)

Yes, I will have. All reinforcement from the eastern front wasn´t yet organized properly, but they will... :)

War going well, in other words :)

That reverse Maginot surrounding is SO cool.:D

To set the trap

The invasion of France did upset the rest of the world.

HoI3_50.jpg

The United States of America joined the Allies. But to Germanys great surprise they didn´t join the war. So the affect should be limited for now.

HoI3_51.jpg

The encirlclement of Maginot was complete. The German army had encircled a large part of the french army. If the trap would hold it certainly would be the end for the french republic.

HoI3_53.jpg

But the french army had no intention to go down without a fight. With all it´s power it hit the German lines and managed to breakthrough to the Belgium borders.

HoI3_55.jpg

But the hole was soon to be gone. German forces from the north did its work well, and the Maginot was once again a pocket.

HoI3_54.jpg

French bombers attacks a German divisions.

Whoops, one of my provinces has the wrong color. What happened? :p

Slow, but steady and good going. It isn't Blitzkrieg, but it isn't Trench Warfare either.

Cool and interesting AAR, I will be watching.

Operational warfare perhaps?

So, about 80% of the French army is now encircled then? That's a pretty big victory, once that pocket is crushed.

The Axis

The German army now had a large part of it´s enemies surrounded and it was time to start stage 3 of the German plan.

HoI3_61.jpg

HoI3_62.jpg

Italy and Spain was invited to join the war, and so they did. The thought behind it was simple, France had to divide it´s already limited forces to meet the new threat. And then France would be doomed.

The German command believed that Spain would be abel to hold it´s ground or even conquer Gibraltar, and mabe also make som progress in Marocko. Mussolini would probably attack southern France with massive forces and maybe lose some ground in Libya.

HoI3_65.jpg

Spain had a impressive force at the french border and attacked over the mountains with full strenght. The German command was pleased.

HoI3_68.jpg

But Mussolini apparently had other plans, because his division moved away from the french border. What did Il Duce plan?

HoI3_64.jpg

In France the battle continued. French forces managed once again to break through the German lines and establish supply lines with Paris. But the Germans did all in it´s powers to once again encircle Maginot.

Hehe,
I´m still on my first, or maybe second day of gameplay. So I was a bit surprised with supply lines and battle delay after I conqured a new province. I soon learned that it wasn´t a good idea to use all my Panzer divisions to attack and then get 105 hours delay on them :)

Cool and interesting AAR, I will be watching.

Thank you! :)

Operational warfare perhaps?

Yeah :)

Nah, not 80%, but maybe 45-50%. France still has some forces in North Africa, The Italian borders (See the screen) and so on. But the forces in Maginot are strong, and if I only could tie that Kessel together properly... :p

The French are definitely feeling the heat now. Half their army nearly incarcerated and with the Spanish now taking them in the rear, and the Italians distracting them a bit...

Italy entering the war might not yet be a disastrous event for France, but Spain joining the war certainly is: with nearly no troops on the Spanish border, a large part of Southern France is about to be overrun.

Ambassador Pétain has failed to keep Spain out of the war; now that he'll have gone back to the seat of government, one can only what the old man may be up to...
